The real saying is “ A jack of all trades is a master of none. But often times better then a master of one” just trying to educate people on that little fact.
The seat is the first thing to change on these. Makes a massive difference to comfort
I will ask you the same question, that I've asked above - what would be your seat recommendation for this bike? (I've just bought the 2022 SM and waiting for delivery :) )
Yep, I own four bikes. I ride one. The 701sm
As you can see on my videos, I just love the Racing Husky spirit! Nice video! That's definitely my next bike!
Beautiful motorcycle, just got one ☝🏿
I just wish they had a bigger culture around them. Especially in the lowering area. No lower seats? cmonnnnnn.
For Americans it's pronounced as "Hoosk-Varna". Not "Hoosk-A-Varna". This bike is awesome. I have a fully modded 2018 and I love it. Congratulations on your new bike.
Have u played state of decay 2 ?? If not play and earn RED TALON members
Johnny Moto GP here! Ripping those backroads like a boss. Good stuff homie!
Thanks dude 🙌🏻🏴
The man the myth and legend checking in. You guys need to collab soon!
Bike content is the best content - you guys definitely need to make a video together!
It's the closest bike to a jaçk of all trades. 701 super mótó is sweet.
Same engíne as the KTM- 690 super enduro r isn't it?
Use to watch this video over and over wanting one of these so bad. Just bought one (2023) and already have 700 miles on it. What a dream.
Sweet! I'm gonna go get me the same bike in a month :)
Have you done anything to yours?
@@SpawnOfSweden yes sir! I’ve done pretty much everything I’ve ever wanted to do to it already lol. Got the Wings slip on W/O DB killer (sounds so good no audio clip online does it justice trust me) got a power commander 6, SAS delete (smog garbage), Rottweiler intake, Rottweiler tail tidy, TST front turn signals for the KTM 690 (they work on 701), front black fender and headlight cover, Oberon slave cylinder (the older 701’s had a slave cylinder problem. New ones apparently have a different slave cylinder, but I changed mine out just to be safe I guess) these bikes run lean from the factory and pulling the stock slip on muffler off, which houses the catalytic converter, makes it run much more lean. Bike is choked up a lot from the factory is what I’m saying. It’s already a wild bike stock, but a tune with intake and a better breathable slip on without a big cat in it makes this bike an absolute animal. It’s scary lol. You have to seriously respect it cause the power to weight on this bike, especially after a tune, is insane. But the tune/intake/exhaust are necessary cause the stock tune is trash. You’ll go from having no power in first with stock tune to all a sudden all the power lol. Tune fixes that but again, just wanna stress this bike is nuts. 300 lb bike with something like 80-90 crank hp and 60-70 crank tq after the basic intake/exhaust/power commander mod is really something to be carful with. I’ve almost looped this bike more times then I can count now just cause I cracked it in first too hard, or thought I was in second and was actually in first and grabbed too much throttle. First will loop you faster then you can say “shit”. Just wanted to throw that cautionary tale out there. Last mod I want is a gear indicator. It’s the greatest bike ever though I’m never selling mine. Hope you enjoy yours!
@@Joebro200 thank you for your detailed information! :) this bike sounds like alot of fun!!
I hope I also can get around the bikes restrictions when Its time for that, in sweden we have alot less parts for these bikes unfortunately.
I will use your post as a help when it's time :)
Great videos mate!! :)
@@Joebro200 you even found a power commander that fits the 2023? Damn!
As I said tnx for the information mate :)
I'm now looking too ! Hopefully this fall I can pay cash for a new one
“A jack of all trades is a master in none, but oftentimes better then a master of one”
ive wanted one of these for so long. 2022 is the year im making it happen. love the content!
Me too man it’s all I can think about
me too mate, lets do it
i settled for a 510 for 2.8k euros, 701 around 10k...
Did you get it? I want one so bad!
Did you ever get it?
That's too cool. I own both a OG Grom and a 2020 Husky 701 SM as well. The Husky is an amazing bike! Just swap your Slave Cylinder and the stock exhaust and you're good to go. Got 11k on mine since I bought it in March last year.
other than the slave cylinder, how reliable has it been? does it feel like it can make it to 40k?
@@blixxy1320 I have 12,000 miles on mine so far and have been daily riding/commuting with this bike since March of 2020. The bike is awesome and the motor is great. I can't tell you how long the motor will last but I can tell you that it runs every bit as good as it did new. Valves, like most, were fine at 6K. Gonna check them again here soon but I haven't had any issues so far.
@@HuangHangLothat's exactly what I want one for lol thanks. I did some more research and there's a few high mileage 701s and 690s still thumping at 50k+.
Best order an Oberon or Rekluse clutch slave and change it out immediately. They are a known weak point and fail with great regularity. The problem is the stock slave has a "X" style ring gasket and it tears and loses pressure. They say that it can be corrected by installing an "O" ring but the Oberon and Rekluse are far superior in design and will outlast the stock diaphragm version. My 2020 Svartpilen 701 has essentially the same motor and setup and my clutch slave went at around 2000 miles. I have heard of the slaves failing as the bike is leaving the dealership lot right after purchase so keeping the stock unit is a total gamble. Otherwise an awesome bike. Congrats and welcome to the Husky family. Might as well get the Rottweiler fuel dongle too while you're at it to clean up the low rpm throttle twitchiness.
My 2020 701 SM slave went out at 260 miles. Follow the above advise to avoid down time!
I think they improved this for the 2021.
Awesome little bike! I’m used to riding street bikes only but this is very tempting. Was debating buying a custom bobber after selling my house but not sure yet. Keep up the good work! Always love the Moto Vlogs!!
Hey man this is exactly the review I needed!!! Absolutely amazing job. Thank you!
Glad I could help!
So you're telling me I shouldnt get a 501S that I was planning to buy, but go full send for the 701S =D
I like the sound of that, especially the exhaust
this is my dream bike, probably gonna go with the enduro just because i want to rip around on trails more than i need to on street. jealousy mode: activated
I do trails on my supermoto. It works
Nice bike. Unfortunately people drive like donkeys where I currently live (Costa Rica). So I sold my KTM Duke 690 and currently selling my KTM 690 Enduro R.
This bike is essentially the love-child of the Duke and the Enduro R..... in different colours :)
That said. I frankly see the Enduro R (or the Husqvarna equivalent of that) a more usable bike. Duke/Vitpilen for the street, and Enduro for off. It's just me, but I never got into the "supermoto" thing.... still a nice bike ...
Just my 2c. ..
Hey man I ride a 701Enduro with heavy engine mods & suspension, at times I throw on the SUMO wheels & really enjoy just what you are talking about being able to push its limits. If you really want to try something insanely fun jump on Ducati Hypermotard 950. Just picked one up a few weeks back & all I can say is the Husky will stay as enduro. You should try the Hyper.
hyper 950 gang represent....ridiculously aggressive on the road.
Great review of the 701, best I have seen so far. Years ago I also had the 400 DRZ SM, a great little bike which I always regretted selling. 701 prices in the UK at the moment are very strong second hand, enough so that you're as well buying new for the two year warranty.
I've been lucky enough to own loads of bikes; different types, small capacity up to 1600 inline six pot , it matters not a jot it's the feeling that bike gives to you at the time you have it that counts.
I have my 701 SM ordered, my motto, grow old disgracefully.
🖕
How are you getting on with it? Thinking of pulling the trigger this Feb. Also UK based.
Bro you've gotta be kiiiiiiding me. I know you said you were getting a new moto but I did NOT expect it to be a husky!! Legit my fucking dream bike. One day...In the meantime, I will live vicariously through you
Such an awesome bike, we're going to need a garage tour soon! 🤣
I have a Crf dual sport and Ninja and I put A LOT more miles on the Honda. Something about ripping up the back roads on a dirtbike and the ability to ride offroad when the mood strikes😁 Sweet bike man, the ultimate SM! I can't wait to see more vids!
I have the 2020 701 Enduro R and absolutely love it. I have been considering getting a set of supermoto wheels and tires for it. Maybe you should get a set of offroad wheels and tires. Just a thought. Keep up the great content.
Unfortunately the swap from SM to enduro requires new front forks, not cheap. Enduro to SM is great though
When it comes to my daily car, sure. Give me all the tech.
But for me with bikes, I like old school tech. 2022 DRZ400SM here and I love her
You can turn off Traction Control while riding, as long as the throttle is closed. Hold in for 3 seconds with no acceleration. Works on my 2021 690 which is same engine and electronics. Awesome bike. Cheers
They're nice bikes if you like less maintenance than a dirt bike that's been made supermoto. I have a gsxr 1000, a ktm 450 for enduro and KTM 525 exc supermoto and got to say I can't imagine a better supermoto than the 525 only the exc 500. They're light so good for handling and put out about the same power as the 701 so more fun for speed too. The only downside is oil change every 20 hours but I don't get to ride much so that doesn't bother me. I have had CRF 450s road legal before but the maintenance on proper off-road bikes is annoying they need new top ends less than every 100 hours where as the excf will go atleast 250 hours without a top end
I have one and definitely invest in another set of rims with knobby off-road tires. Takes like 15mins if not less to swap! Totally worth it!!
Hi bro nice moto jaja i have exacly the same i recomended more modificstions but The firts its get out The db killers jaja congrats from spain
oh mannnn im excited for this! Not many bikes have this kind of personality. Lets gooooo
I Getting one I’m just tired of riding my Ducati all the time. It pain in the ass
Hey talon I just had a video idea that I would love to see ! I’m starting to get into drones so I would really enjoy a video from you on drones and how to use them when and where you can use them and just overall education on them ! Just an idea I thought of and I thought you were the person to tell ! 👌🏾🔥thanks man SEI 😈
Awesome video. I’d like to see more on your plate relocation. Maybe a small video showing how this was accomplished?
I love this bike! Great in depth review and mentioning things others don’t. Cheers
Awesome vid! Just what I was looking for. I'm going to get one of these - the new 2024. Right now I have a nice DRZ 400 SM and looking to upgrade. I also live in Denver and love cruising that area!
Just bought a 2022 701SM. It’s coming from overseas in May. I was pretty excited before watching this video but now I think I’m going to go insane waiting for this thing to show up. Great video man thanks for all the great info.
Please let me know how much you love it
@@jakejones3921 bike kept getting delayed and delayed and delayed and once July came around I said fuck it and went with something else. Ended up getting a 21 Harley street bob 114 and I think it was the best decision I’ve ever made. The 701 is still a great bike though I just couldn’t let the entire summer pass by without getting a bike
@@zze3r011 thanks for the reply man stay safe ride on
I have 2 bikes that I don’t ride as much anymore because I’ve been upgrading my truck & building that. But I like having the option of having a bike, I have Harley iron & drz400sm I’m thinking about selling both to get one of these. I paid about $4k for each bike. Should I ?
I own a 2020 Husqvarna 701 enduro and I absolutely love it 😍
I just bought my first road legal. I had 4 Mx bikes my last being a 2021 crf250r. And now I just bought a 2022 Indian chief bobber. I wish I could drop a review of this quality. But Yea my first road legal bike is a 111 / 1890cc and it’s been amazing
Greetings, good sir! I was wondering: i'm shopping around for a bike and THAT got my attention. Thing is: i'm 6'3". You think i'll be comfortable on this?
My only problem is the lack luster gauge cluster, like c'mon Husqvarna and KTM you can do better than that
Congrats! I have the 2021 KTM SMC-R. Absolutely love mine. So much fun. Adding a Power Commander V with the exhaust added a noticeable amount of power to mine.
Just put a deposit down on a gas gas 700 Sm. Do you know anywhere you can get a flash to ECU or send your ECU off to get flashed??
@@Maoshung Rottweiler Performance
@@rodstawaa I looked them up and I planned on flashing the ECU to get ride of restrictions. (ie you twist throttle 100% but throttle body only opens 70% and doesn’t open to 100%.)
From my understanding a PCV or PC6 doesn’t remove those limitations.
Am I correct in this thinking??
@@Maoshung ask Rottweiler performance 👍🏼
so my last comment states i didnt like all that tech. i found out the 2018 doesnt have all the tech and grabbed one off marketplace... its almost too much power... its modded with the power commander and its just woah
Was looking at this 3 years ago, and ended up going with an FJ-09, which I love, but next year I may give her up for the Husky… love that thing! And Deer Creek, I’ve spent countless hours on Moto’s and my bicycle there, AMAZING. Great vid man.
If that’s the Akrapovic that you can remove the catalytic converter out of it get it out of there & get a pre mapped power commander from Rottweiler performance, big mid range torque to be gained AND a little hp sprinkle up top👌 701’s & 690’s are the funnest motorcycles in the world hands down in my book🤘
My '21 DRZ 400 SM is giving me a nasty look. She knows what I'm thinking.
my advice is buy good gloves . or make sure you dont crash , what you wearing here is gonna cost you your hands if you do crash
Was looking at one of those. No fly by wire for me... Guess I'll just get a zuki 400 sm
i've read a lot about throttle response and low rpm issues, did you experience these and how complicated was sorting them out?
Been drooling over one of these for a while now!
all that tech is just a deal breaker man i wish it didnt come with the shift sensors, and the ride by wire, or the traction control and abs.... id be all into 75 hp and six speed but that tech is a literal deal breaker i cant do it i want to be able to throw knobies on there and take it on a trail out camping and know i can fix anything that goes wrong...
As the owner of a svartpilen 701 with about 6k miles and daily commuter this engine is fucking nasty. I torqued myself back in the seat this past weekend running about 80 goin up into 6th when making a pass. Continues to impress me.
Happy to hear you have 6k on it and still happy. I got me a Vitpilen 701 a week a go and never been happier, thing is so powerful and so simple, but so nice to look at at the same time and looking at this super moto, the versatility of it is endless!
wait was bro in littleton ? i remember hiking down that road to south valley park a couple years ago.
Wouldn't say its the "king of sumos" not even close, but its a decent bike.
I’ve got the ‘18 701 I don’t have the traction control on my model still has the abs though !
2 years of ownership and my butt is still sore asf after about 1.5hr on the hwy but I think they fixed the major vibration issues after my model . Still a weapon of a machine though also you can take those baffles out of the muffler you just have to drill out the rivets on the carbon cap then there will be bolts that are tacked In place to stop them vibrating out then just rivet the cap back on after sounds mint
Bud pass. Get you like bike. To pc thread for me. You could of passed 20 times.
I don’t know how it’s in American but here in Europe (at least in Germany) your model is actually the 2020 701 cause the new 2021 has a gear indicator, shows you the rpm has a ,,new” light at least there is something on the end sticking out + it’s euro 5 (which is bad😶🌫️😂) and also has led blinkers (but I know that you guys don’t get them at all cause we got the led blinkers already in 2017)(pls korrekt me if this is the 2021 model that you guys get in America, I’m carious🥴😁)
EU and US models almost always have differences. This is 100% a 2021
More bike videos! Maybe some Dirtbike or adventure bike action
I heard the Duke 890 R is substantially better in every category. Do you know anyone with one of those that can compete in Top Gear style challenges to settle this debate?
The duke 890R is absolutely ideal for picking up dudes and nuts to butt riding. I will see if I can find a friend with one and do a comparison 👍🏻
@@TalonSei woah woah woah, being good at picking up dudes is merely one of the things at which the 890 R excels. We ride at the crack of noon on Sunday.
Can't take the 890 offroad.
Supermoto it's like glock😁😁😁
🍀👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🍀
Get a seat concepts seat.
Thank me later
You saying Husqvarna sounds finnish fir some reason🤣🤣 huska-vaarna
I'm getting one this year been a dream bike for a few years now ❤
Great review, Thanks. Any thoughts on Adventure bikes, I know they don’t handle like the Husky. Bikes like the Honda Africa Twin.
They are super rad but I’m not at that stage in life yet haha
Don’t know if I want one of these or a fe 501 or 24 yz450fx first
costs twice as much as a drz or klz, might as well get a hypermotard.
Will they please bring back the Husky colors.
Another nice bike .... Husqvarna makes a sweet bike ... congrats! ... best content on RUclips
i prefer the Husqvarna FS 450 Supermoto
Nice bike. I considered getting the 701 SM, but went with the Vitpilen 701 instead...you can't go wrong with either bike. Was that Deer Creek to Conifer 285?
It was 👍🏻
Love the looks of it…how the seat stretches that far out front
Fuckin sick buddy !! 🤙🏻
I was returning from Planet Fitness this morning, about 6:30 this morning... drove by the SAT van... parked at the corner of Sheldon and Wiskey Row in downtown Prescott... Just a bit too early to nock on the door... enjoy your visit to Prescott, AZ
Did you mention the hidden compartment? Fits the tools minus the one that clips under the seat to access the compartment
What the heck. You're not getting that many views are you? Hell of a bike there! WOW!! 👍🏻
Have you put on the O2 sensor mod? Makes a huge difference in how the low-end rev range feels. It's a mandatory mod.
Ooohh wow. Now you just living my dream
Online reviews just don't focus enough on the fun factor. I have 20k miles on my 701, I've owned around 60 bikes, raced offroad and road course, and this is my favorite street legal motorcycle. Its so stupidly fun, its my go to when it's too hot to ride my 2 stroke.
You live in colorado? Lets link sometime.
The only issue: why they setup the muffler on the left side😢
Considering selling my Ducati monster and getting one
That Husky is Bad can't afford it but
I've got a Honda xr650l that is pumped , it's nothing like that Husky
But it halls @$$ . I pumped up now,
And bought supèrmoto wheels a
Awhile ago and it changed the bike
Totally , so I've got almost the best of both worlds, but that Husky is the
Best get some Dirt type wheels and
Try them out , just a suggestion.
Now Go Blow off some Sport bikes.
Thanks from NOR-CAL.
Link for the plate relocation and rear led tail lights?
Watch out with that RAM mount on your handle bar bro. I wrecked my iPhones primary camera with that mount on my KTM 790 Duke. Took only two short rides to completely break the stabilization.
its interesting that both GasGas and kTM make the same bike. Wonder which one is better or are they all the same?
GasGas has one-piece wheels versus KTM's spoke and rim. Otherwise, same machine. Minor styling differences.
I ride baggers and sport tourers. I bought a 2019 model and can tell you this thing is all fun. It took me some time to get used to it but once you do its cable of anything. It is powerful and give some other race bike a challenge. I wish I got a 2020 because of the quick shifter and the riding mode. great review.
Of all the bikes I've owned my Husky TC610 was my favorite.
Husqvarna is terrible with labeling their bikes it was really a 577cc.
Lol just picked up a enduro model on Monday what a coincidence. Also it was nice meeting you at the overland expo while you were trying to eat a sandwich.
King of sumos would be a big bore 2 stroke.
I’ve commented on this video a few times now, and this is a great review. I’m a big fan of the channel this guy produces great content. After getting my 2023 701 tuned with an air intake and exhaust it’s a complete beast of a bike. I honestly think this bike goes past just being a “jack of all trades master of fun” cause it actually excels in everything pretty much better then most bikes. Honestly, this is probably one of the more competitive track bikes you can get. It corners better then anything if you can ride it to its fullest potential and it’s a torque monster. I have buddies with other 700’s and 900’s and this bike is just on another level. With it being 300 pounds and having the grunt it does, it’s a weapon. Also, comfort. This bike is honestly so comfortable it’ll ruin every other bike for you. I hear so many people say “eh you can’t ride it for hours cause the seats hard” but that’s bullshit. This bike is so damn comfortable. The seat is a perfect blend of stiff and soft. I’ve ridden other “comfort” bikes like the Tenere 700 and the tracer 900GT and they give me a very similar comfort vibe. I am 25 so I’m not dying for anything crazy comfortable rn, but this bike doesn’t miss in that department at all. This bike is a damn steal for 14K out the door. Plus, the quick shifter up and down is so damn premium. You get a lot for your money on this bike
Want! Ultimate playbike for sure. Around $12 grand though. 😳 65 hp stock. Up to 77 hp modded.
I have a 2019 701 SM...in America....did you remove the reflective amber squares on the front forks?? Mine came with them attached from dealer
cool but,,,,, KTM500 with warp 9s or knobs is so much more fun,
Love backing it in through intersections and freaking out traffic,,,,,😆
Where did you get the tail tidy?
U should take a ride on a Husqvarna fe501. I have some mild mods, GET ecu custom tuned, fmf slip on. Waiting for supermoto wheel/tire setup. Bike is crazy light, and really powerful.
13:08 it's dangerous to make hand gestures like that, the car in front might think you are flipping him off :))
I wish they look like the 450 supermoto
Did you try to remove the db killer? I've done this on my 2023 701 with leovince nero and it is... loud :D
Why just a slip on verses an entire system?
