Man I wish this attire was still in style.. That suit the gentleman on the far right standing up is wearing reminds me of the suits my uncles wore down in Mexico for special events.
The red Esquire Luther Perkins is playing was purchased O.K. Houck Piano Company in Memphis. Luther fell behind on the payments and had to return the instrument. However, an old friend of his who used to work with him on the railroad happened to work at O.K. Houck. His name was Sid Lapworth. Sid agreed to let Luther to "borrow" the returned instrument for one recording session. Luther returned the guitar bright and early the next morning after using it to record, "I Walk the Line".
Why don't the music industry take all their potential talent and introduce them to a true professional!!!. He had personal problems , but when the light went red, it was all REAL!!!!!
Many great pickers in the room here obviously, listening to the new phenom on the red Fender smoking them strings. R. I. P. JCash Luther Perkins 🎸 Marshall Grant
Excellent film clip of Johnny! "So Doggone Lonesome" was the "B" side of the original SUN release of Folsom Prison Blues... Pick it, Luther! And playing for Lil Jimmy Dickens, Hank Snow, and Flatt and Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys to boot! Classic Country Royalty!
Great song and playing by Johnny, Luther, and Marshall, but the highlight for me is Paul Warren (fiddler with Flatt and Scruggs) dropping his cards at 0:52 It's funny seeing these two great bands together. It would've been great to hear them perform together.
I've always preferred his live performances over studio versions, tempo is faster, vocals stronger, cause on stage they where usually high.Check out bass player chewing the shit outta that Gum lol! Good stuff!
He wasn’t on drugs at all here, he got a certain look to his eyes, this isn’t it, he wasn’t on drugs in 55’ he tried in 56’ got worse in 58’ and got hooked and hit hard in 59’
As a young man, I admittedly get a lot of my masculinity from watching and listening to Johnny Cash. Great man.
I wonder if Johnny knew how big he was going to be. My favorite of all time
Certainly he didn't know that at this time. /CD
He WAS the the Greatest!

Johnny sang with soul and amazing rhythm.
Seeing Marshall so excited on double bass fills me with happiness!
I'm sure the amphetamines help.
Real poker gamblers would never tolerate the distraction of music.

It's weird how generations that came a couple before you always look old at any age.

The guy at the beginning seems jealous
They're just kidding around. Most Country & Western singers were like a family and were very supportive of each other.
thousands in the world that were never heard of could sing him under the table. Right place... right time...

with the same stayin power i think not !
Shut your mouth
Right place right time for over 50 years? Get out of here please.
