    Thanks for the tutorial! But one thing that will make your life easier
    I noticed while setting this up, for the tile actions, they actually occur sequentially top-down. I ran into this problem while setting mine up assuming they weren't and lacked permissions on the first click. How this helps you out -- rather than surround the player by tiles, just add one additional action to reset the permissions to default. Make sure this is the last action and you are good to go!
    Player clicks the following happens:
    (1) Permission allows visibility
    (2) Chat message appears
    (3) Player opens up shop ... they have visibility so this opens fine
    (4) Permission resets to default, but the player has the shop open so it stays open and they interact normally.

    Something you could add to that is a filter to make sure the players token is within 1 square in order to interact with the merchant. The current settings would allow them to attempt to access the shop from across the map.
    I haven't been doing this for shops, but I think I might! MATT makes it really cool.

    Nice ! I just have a problem : I still can double-click and show the journal while I'm far from the vendor, so the "out tiles" won't be able to execute. How can I permit the double-click while the character is next to the vendor tile instead? This way I'd have better control. Thanks.

    Hey there so I’ve installed this module but every time I try to use the shops it saying that no journal type “shop” exists? Any fixes for this ?

    Cool module but don't play or care bout D&D 5th ed. How would you set something like this up that's system agnostic?

    • @mr.weaver6742
      @mr.weaver6742  2 года назад +1

      Fair enough. I do see 5e listed as the rules system for the shops. I imagine translating the currency would be one of the main barriers for other systems. I'll take a look though and see. I also suggest checking out the Foundry discord.

    Woo! Monk keeps making great stuff. How does this compare to the Loot Sheet merchant shops?

    • @mr.weaver6742
      @mr.weaver6742  2 года назад +1

      I personally prefer this setup for shops over the loot sheet method. However, I still need to look at loot sheets monk has for defeated npcs. That's on my to do list.

      @@mr.weaver6742 I'd absolutely recommend Item Piles for looting downed NPCs - you can preset (and personally configure per NPC if you want) what items in their inventory can be taken by PCs. It's super clean in my experience for that specific purpose :D

  • @XGNTheFloater

    What PC character sheets are you using? I'm quite fond of how clean this one looks compared to the ones I currently use in my games.

    I kind of feel like the use of active tiles overcomplicates this more than it needs to. I can see why you might want to restrict player interaction to "when they're near", but when players are exploring a town or something, just having them tell you they want to buy from a merchant should be enough. Then you just open the shop and let them go on their way. I usually just set up a separate scene for the shop using the Loot Sheet module.

    • @mr.weaver6742
      @mr.weaver6742  2 года назад

      Completely a fair point. That's why I tried to mention in the video that after the shop setup you're good to go if you so desire. (Just adjust permissions.) The use of active tiles in the video is mostly to show what is possible.

      @@mr.weaver6742 Nah, man. You did a great job. And it's amazing how close to a video game we can get with Foundry. I'm normally all for features and automation, but when it comes to setting something like this up, I guess I'm just a little lazier. Last time I set up a shop for my players, they barely used it. I guess the merchant didn't have anything they wanted. Ha. Thanks for this.

    I like monks stuff, but honestly lootsheet is better. Its faster, easier to setup, and setting up tiles is honestly over the top.

    • @mr.weaver6742
      @mr.weaver6742  2 года назад +1

      Of course! Just go with whatever works for you. I personally have found Monk's Enhanced Journals and Monk's Shops to work really well together with few issues.
      I mention in the video but the setup for the tiles is not required at all to get a shop going. I am just showing off what you can do. I have had practice with it of course but setting up a tile to open a shop can be done with just a few clicks. I also wanted to show them off a little bit because they can be used for tons of other features such as teleportation, traps, turning on/off lights, etc.

    • @Jk-zv6tz
      @Jk-zv6tz 2 года назад

      @@mr.weaver6742 I use tiles for the rest of it. Triggers for all sorts, though traps have been an odd one. Not quite working as intended.

    • @mr.weaver6742
      @mr.weaver6742  2 года назад

      @@Jk-zv6tz Do you use MIDI? Do you have an action to target the triggering token first before the attack? I've got something I want to figure out but I do plan to do a video on MATT for traps in the near future.

    this feels like clickbait
