Couple Notes: In the video I missed one module. "Let Me Roll That For You." This will give your players control over their own saves via prompt. Additional Tips: Alt-Click=Roll with Advantage. Ctrl-Click= Roll with Disadvantage. Alt-Click a Token to Target. Alt-Shift-C = Clear all Targets
Man I’ve got to tell you I am a dm that comes from the artist/writer skill set and I have built some pretty foundry worlds but I also was running modules I had no real idea what I was doing with and in the span of watching six of your videos I just cleaned out and optimized and activated features I didn’t even know I had at my fingertips in all three of my current worlds and I am *stoked*. You laid out every module I wasn’t reeeeally confident with (and ASE and traps and trammels holy CRAP what I was overlooking) and now I feel like I will be able to execute every crazy whim I have. You’re a hero. These are so user friendly and clear and you have communicated the functionality of these developers’ work in a way that almost none of their wikis do. Thank you so much, you living bridge between tech whizzes and us flaky creatives.
Do have one question though as I’m in V10 - I know ASE hasn’t been updated yet but I believe vauryx said it mostly works - have you tested in V10? How’s it looking?
@@charlesgill2891 Thank you so much for the kind words! I just wish I had more time to make videos to share. I'm a bit busy these days with my day job as an ESL teacher and also taking care of a new (small) member of our family.
As far as ASE goes, I've been using it on V10 without any major issues. I have had a few bugs with the interface, such as the images of targets not showing up in popups. I'm pretty sure some spells work better than others though and I haven't tested out all of the ASE stuff. Just summoning, chain lightning, steel wind strike, and a handful more.
I would really, really, rally love a continuation of this video. To the max. A brealdown how you would go about fully automating the most commong class features and spells, with the modules currently available (Active Auras, ASE, Midi SRD, and especially what you would need to craft with DAE yourself, and how)
Sure, I can do something like that. I will say one thing that's nice is you don't really have to choose. Argon HUD can be turned on/off after all. So the players that like it can use it, and the others just have their normal macro bar.
I have a rouge in the party that has a lot of different ways to get advantage, mainly using "steady aim" is there a way he can easily roll with advantage? right now whenever he uses his bow it automatically rolls normal
Another question - I tried spells like Charm Person and Hold Person but the status effects Charmed and Paralyzed are not applied to the token. I cannot understand why. The token only gets the Spell name status effect. But I would find it very handy if it would tell the players what the applied effect actually means. Can you help? Thanks!
In the case of hold person, although the status "paralyzed" is not being shown, the effects on that player are still active through the hold person spell effect. There's no built in automation for charm person, I believe due to the nature of the charmed condition. I'd suggest for most cases to just toggle on the status effect - one of the options for DFreds will display the effect in chat.
Is there an easy way to "undo" a roll? My only problem with automation is sometimes a player will forget they had advantage or some other thing and will have to reroll and I don't like automated for that reason generally.
It's really easy to undo damage with MIDI-QOL. I don't know about a whole roll. In my personal game, I'd just have them roll one more dice again quickly and figure it out from there. Dice tray is helpful for that.
One thing i haven't been able to figure out when it comes to everything being automated, is being able to select damage types instead of it rolling the entire thing. Like destructive wave just rolls all the radiant and nercrotic energy instead of getting to choose. Also never see an option before attack to roll versatile one handed or twohanded on longswords, etc.
That's a good question. One method would be to setup additional items for the damage type, but that's cumbersome. I know there's macros out there for things like chromatic orb. I'll look into it some more. I lightly touch on it in the video but as much as I like automation for some parts... I have learned when it's faster and less work to just do it manually.
@@mr.weaver6742 That's the same way i go about it. If its too ardous to create different item names just to do different effects, i kind of accept that ill have to do it manually. I don't really know macro writing all too well, so i'm not sure how to go about that. There is midi settings to roll other damage on prompt, but i can never get it to work.
For some reason, when my players give each other bardic inspiration, it damages them. Very strange. We are using dndbeyond importer so maybe it’s that?
Oh good catch. I missed that. In the default Midi-QOL settings it uses another module "Let Me Roll That For You." I forgot to add that to my module list. You could either add that module (and its dependencies) and it would work right away. Or you could go to Configure Settings: Midi-QOL: Workflow Settings: Workflow. Then scroll down to the saves section and next to Prompt Players to Roll Saves: Select None. Your players might like the first choice better though because they'll roll their own saves. Thanks for catching that. I'll add that module to my list and also pin a comment.

Welcome back Mr Weaver.
Damn, that midiQOL quick settings menu is such a great functionality!

Can we get a pros and cons video on Token Action Hud vs Argon Combat Hud by theripper?

So the midi QOL 'automate everything' option is amazing.. but what if i want to roll with advantage or disadvantage?
Great question. Alt-Click for Advantage. Ctrl-Click for Disadvantage.

Great video! Which module is the one that make that cool sound when the combat begins?
Thank you! That should be Monk's Little Details. It provides turn and combat sound notifications that are customizable.

That happens when there is damage programmed into the item. When you imported in from DnD Beyond did you choose the SRD option?
Automating Saving Throws take forever - dunno know why. Is it possible for my players to click on a saving throw panel in the chat without automation?
