I've always had at least one black cat. Actually, my latest black cat wandered onto my property out here in the country/woods about a month ago. I'd talk to him when I'd meet him outside, asking him where he lived. He'd just look me in the eyes as if he had some huge secret. He got along with my other cats from day one, as if he'd been born along with them. They'd share their food with him and even snuggle with him. Fast forward, no one has posted anything around here that they're missing their black cat, nor has anyone answered my many online posts showing pictures of him.
So, yep... we now once again have a black panther in the gang. He is actually brownish black with deep glowing yellow eyes. I know from my previous black cats over the years, that a few of them would turn a brown shade during the summer, and go back to sleek pitch black during the winter. He has the faintest squeak of a meow and is very loving and gentle. I know he must have belonged to someone. He wouldn't be so tame, well behaved and loving if he would have been a "wild" cat. But until I find who he belongs to, or who he "owns", I'll be taking care and loving him along with the rest of my cats and dog.

I have noticed that black fur on cats and dogs is actually dark red, shows up best when the sunlight passes through it. It actually caught me by surprise, I expected to see black.
