Well this is the only 1985 GMC RTS from NYCTA that's still running. It was sent to Triboro Coach Corp. in 2004 as a way to fill the huge gap that Triboro had in service due to sooooo many dead buses. As of now....this is on life support, due to new arrivals of Orion VII Hybrids in what's now known as MTA Bus Laguardia Depot. This is the last of the NYCTA Hand-me-downs left in NYC. After this is pulled from service, NO MAS!
God have mercy this sounds old like the earliest RTXs. I have to cry more now when i hear this one as well. That deep deep sound of the series 71TA. This is a classic 1970s sound i was only a boy. I remember the 6V71TA plus Voith having this sound. The Allison made it sound s like the series 92TA. but this is the deep sound 6V71TA with the Voit.
@knightclassic1 Heh, the last TMC RTSes with the 6v92TA can be found out in Lakewood Bus Terminal in NJ by Loori Bus Company as the Lakewood Job Link (35 foot 96 inch RTS from 1991). I doubt if you'll be able to board, even though it's only $1.50. Take the 139 from PABT to Lakewood (16 zone interstate costing around $16 or $17 one way). Mon-Fri around 3pm.

As long as the Nova RTSes like late 90s-2000 models would operate for another 8 + years for NYCTA/ MTA.

Awesome video! The sound on that 6V-92TA is SO deep, please take a trip to Rockaways and hunt down some more 92s if u can.
