  • In this video I install the new window motor and get the power windows to work on both the driver and passenger side.

Your spring is possibly tired, that would explain why it goes faster down than up.

I'm doing my new to me 74 vette I got 2 weeks ago. Replacing door locks, putting on all the gaskets, door latch, door locks, checking the window tracks and motors. By the way, who puts the stuff on without gaskets on NEW PAINT????

Nice! At the end of the day it’s just paint, so don’t let the shiny paint scare you from enjoying your car!

@bluesxt that won't happen. Lucky I caught it early. Now I gotta do the job. I want the little problems fixed before summer. Including A/C system upgrade to 134A.

my problem is I have new window regulator and motor in my 1980 corvette ,the window won't go all the way down. does it make a differance how the motor gear goes in the motor ?

Does the window roll down with the doors open? If so your window needs alignment.
Does the window roll down all the way if you push down on the glass and help it? Did you add grease on the regulator? The other item worth checking is your bottom window stops and your regulator alignment within the door shell.

It looks to me like you should replace the drivers side motor too. Or does it just need a clean and lube job.

It definitely needs to be lubed some more but that motor is never going to be as fast as this new passenger one. It’s just not as powerful. So I may need a new driverside motor in order for them to equally go down as quick

So I have the same problem with my car in fact might be the same model is yours I when though 3 motors and I just can get it to work try all kinds of different things check the power on the connector its all good I even ran a ground wire to it and still can't get it to work can you tell what exactly you did thanks

If the window switch is functioning, and the window motor works outside of the car then I suggest sanding the spot where the motor bolts to the window regulator. My problem turned out to be that so I suggest try that in order to give it a good ground. I either showed that process in this video or the video I posted after this one

the windows in my 79 are fast, so that is normal.

Where is the fuse for windows

Penetrating oil will evaporate eventually.... you want to use lithium grease on the tracks.

A few months later I eventually went back and used grease :) thanks
