As always, good video Tom. It doesn't matter if something seems unimportant or not, if someone can be helped or informed just a little bit, then it was worth you taking the time to make a vid on it.

I can literally watch these videos all the time. I have a 1976 that may or may not need parts replaced, but thanks to your videos, it motivated me to replace the ones that look like they need. It’s getting a paint job as we speak. Thanks for sharing.
P/S… I can’t wait for the long video, summer is coming and I try staying indoors when it’s almost at 120° for 3 straight months.

Excellent video! My 74 Corvette is having some issues with pass side window motor so I’m going to take it apart next summer when I have the time and clean it up like you did yours. I love your videos, they have really been a help to this 58 year old house wife and my restomod project ~ I’m bringing my basket case back to life. God Bless you.

Really Glad I stayed with this! I had a hard time watching this at the beginning but, I figured I would learn something so I kept watching. You do excellent work with the car. I learned that I tested my motor wrong. I did not see the third (ground) wire so I figured the 2 posts on the motor were pos/neg instead of pos/pos . Thanks for the detail in your video. I also really enjoyed seeing you fix the motor instead of tossing it and replacing it with a chinese reproduction.

Informative video. One thing to note is petroleum jelly (Vasoline) is not the same as dielectric grease. Di-electric grease is silicone based and will not harm plastic or rubber. Vasoline has petroleum distillates and will eventually cause rubber and plastic to breakdown and disinigrate.

Thanks Tom, another very informative video… I’m sure many people with similar problems end up changing the motor. Thanks again

Adjusting these windows are a pita. I’ve been working on and off my ‘75 windows for three weeks. There is in the assembly manual a section for proper adjustment that works fairly well but still takes some tinkering. Good luck my friend.

that bolt with the nut is not to add grease. It is preload adjustment.

There is a hole in the regulator gear and on the bracket that holds it which you can put a bolt through to keep the spring loaded mechanism from moving when you remove the mounting bolts. This is important to do before removing the regulator to reduce risk of slicing off your fingers. New regulators come with this bolt in place and should not be removed until the regulator is installed with the window is propped up in the raised position and the motor is installed.

Yes I figured this out later, unfortunately my window was stuck in down position which made it impossible to put the bolt in but I didn’t know about it at the time anyways

using a test light would show the same thing (the light coming on) as the multimeter, correct? when testing the switch.

I think once you get the two phillips head screws loose, that will solve your window adjustment problem. I have a 79 Vette and those adjustment screws are hex head bolts on my car and not phillips screws. Anyway those two screws are attached to your window regulator and will adjust the window angle. Make sure the gear on your motor was installed correctly to the gear on the regulator. That could also throw off the height of the window.

Yes that is exactly what it was, I figured it out like the day after

I'm trying to remember but I think the ground goes on the motor itself. If I remember correctly, there is supposed to be a little connector on the motor itself for you to connect it to. It probably broke or it was removed and forgot to put back on.

My 71 Corvette doesn't have that pigtail ground installed... I assume the motor provides the ground when its bolted in to the metal components. Great video!

Dont sand your armature( copper where brushes contact) mild solvent and carefully clean the lines of armature. sanding will shorten the life of motor
