C3 Corvette Blower Motor Replacement: The Easy Way! Removing the dying blower motor of death!

- In all the videos I have seen on removing the blower motor from a C3 corvette, everyone wants to take these out from the top. They disconnect the AC lines and overflow bottle etc. If you have those systems and don't want them disturbed, than this is the way to go.

Your son didn't ruin the video...he made it better.
Score on the blower replacement. What a jam packed engine compartment!
Happy to see your wife and older son again.
Including them is okay with me.
Nice to see Liam and your wife again!
Ben, you have chosen one of the most difficult cars to work on. If you have owned a C3, you realize the magnitude of Ben's patience and ability. Cute kid too!
He is easy on the eyes. No doubt.
Ahhhhhh the patience of our friend Ben. ( At least on camera )
I have 81 Corvette and watching your videos makes it so much easier to work on it. Keep on pumping them out, they’re great. Thanks
You'll be able to show him the video when he gets older. So very Cool!! Thanks for posting CorvetteBen videos again!!
This is a example of the internet and RUclips helping with a automotive repair task. Kind of reminds me of changing my 72 C10 blower motor. Having to unbolt the inner fender and slide it forward for enough room.
Not only can this man fix anything on a GM... he can do it one-handed while filming.
Kids... this is _a real man._
No bragging. No shameless self-promotion, unless you _need_ a sticker. Humility for days....
A "man's man."
I hope your kids grow up to be just like you, Ben. We need more clones of you in this world.
(EDIT: I posted this before I saw Liam. Wow.... Being a father is the best thing in the world. Sad I'll never experience that. Now... on that "child labor" kick... kids do have tiny hands. Teach him how to reach into small spaces to grab all the bolts you've dropped. My dad did it to me, and I turned out fine?)
BTW... the shop looks AWESOME. Congrats, I'm jealous. Real "BDE."
As my grandfather used to say: "If you got it, they know. You don't have to walk in swinging it around. It proceeds you."
Haha! You reminded me that my Dad would ask me to grab bolts and things dropped into small spaces too.
@@discerningmind How else are you going to learn? Seriously... the best thing you can do with any kid is to get them into your hobby or work... whatever it is, and _teach_ them. Let them work _beside_ you, not _with_ you.
Hey... tools and cars are just "big kids" toys... even if you're just wrenching on your daily out of necessity. Take the kiddio for a ride with you. Pass on the passion.

@@rareblues78daddy Absolutely. And I did learn too.
I just did my 71 through the hood. Once the squirrel cage was off I could finipulate the motor and wheel past the OE AC. You are a huge help!
Your mechanical abilities are awesome! That video was incredible! Thanks, Ben!
Corvette Ben RULES!
You should include the family more it’s great to see the extra content that’s part of life!!😊
My day is made when The Corvette Ben puts out a video!
Won't be that long before the little one will want to join in. And I'll bet his hands will fit fine in those spaces LOL. It has been a while (I'm old LOL) but when my kids wanted to help I learned quickly to have tasks lined up and not let them wait to start "working." They got bored easily and quickly otherwise.
You're a great Dad!
Thanks Corvette Ben and family happy holidays ❤️
Love to see some Pontiac action...
Nice vid...and I had been wondering how the wife's Pontiac was faring, and did figure the attention was likely more focused on the young'un.
Your little son Ian is cute 🥰☺️
I saw one of these 82 Collector Editons cruising through Oklahoma City on Saturday. Hadn’t seen one in years.
I am glad you showed the "Cheering Section".
Excellent, detailed video! Thanks for posting. Always nice to see the family too.
Cute kid. Team him young to love cars. By the time he grows up it will be a dying art I fear.
More than likely he would be able to make a career from servicing multitudes of EV's. EV's are not going to be nearly as 'trouble-free' as everyone thinks.
So important to have you share this information. The later C3's were more complex so it is great to see your little tips and tricks. Thank you for keeping these cars running and refined.
I know it seems simple to you but to the non-mechanical guys like me it's a amazing. Keep up the good work and you have a beautiful family. Don't blink...time flies.
Ben, give that boy a set of y tools and turn him loose. We’re depending on the next generation to pick up the banner!!
My issue was due to a dirt dobber, at least as the local South Texas people call the pesky wasp like critter. I was glad to see the blower was not bad.
Thanks Ben, I saw you guys had some severe weather today up your way. Hope everything is okay. I live in Forney.
Tornadoes are really just a way of life in the south. You get used to them after a while.
Ben, your are a true magician. thanks
Nice to see your family too, ben!
Soon he’ll be wrenching with you.thanks John from Arizona
Thanks for taking the time to do this video. A video is worth a 1000 forum posts.
Very informative, but I replaced mine from the top in less than an hour. Also an ‘82 CE. Get the A/C compressor out of the way to remove the overflow tank. You then have enough room to wrestle the blower motor out. It wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be. No need to take the cage off.
Ben, thank you. I'm pleased to learn that the blower can be replaced without disconnecting the a/c lines.
Knowledge shared from you and men like you on RUclips make a job go easier and faster but to save money as well.
You guys are doing God's work, and particularly so for the working man.
Good to see you have plenty of help😂.
Ben's a big daddy 💪🏿
You are awesome!
Thanks Ben
Great video Ben. Liam is adorable !
Way to go Ben. The commercials have become more intrusive, but I know that's not your doing.
Cheers.
The RUclips Premium Membership eliminates the commercials. It's $12.75 a month and well worth it.
Hi Ben...thanks for the video always enjoy learning about the different Vettes. Look forward to the Pontiac videos, tough to balance everything in life sometimes...I have my 49 Cadillac that is just sitting waiting to get worked on.
A '49 Caddy... and you're letting it sit?
I would murder a nun for one.
Get to it. Now. Great winter project!
👍, good to see the family hope y’all have a great Christmas Ben. The little one will make it Merry And unforgettable, he needs some sisters or brothers!😁
He has a four year old older brother. Liam is number two
Glad your back love your content allways learning something that works on all classic cars
I think the 82 VETT IS THE NICEST OF THE C3 vetts
My vote is with the '73.
Good job Ben!
Great Video, Thank You!
Another Corvette vid, yesssss!
nice coverage....thanks
Good method for getting that blower motor replaced Ben! Doing it "by the book', would have been a nightmare! lol! Imagine what the Dealer would have charged for that?? Sends shivers down my spine! Merry Christmas! (if you celebrate) And a Very Happy Healthy New Year for you and your beautiful family! Peace!
Great video!
Good Video... The fan does turn off ..When you put the top lever of the climate system in off....
Actually , it's on all the time once the car is started but at slower speed.
@@josephcollins3276 In my 82 it doesn't. Once you put it in off.. My fan stops
Hope this is the beginning of many more.
Thanks for this one Ben, seeing you up and under that section makes me think I might be able to get the coolant reservoir out that way rather than trying to disassemble the AC like the AIM says to do, I know my AC dryer isn't where that one was.
Great video, way easier this way.
Did Chevrolet improve the access to the blower motor for the C4 or is it more or less cumbersome than on the C3? Just curious. Thanks for posting this video. Your son Liam is adorable!
Cute family.
Lol he isn't ruining the vid. lots of us know the family life lol.
He's as cute as ever you want a kid to be 😅
i did one on a firebird
A good question is 'why are GM blower motors of that vintage such garbage??' Back in the day, I changed the blower motor on my 84 Z28 twice before it had 70,000km on it. My new-to-me 80 Corvette doesn't have the blower motor functioning right now and I suspect I will be doing this same job soon.
The blower motor is off when the heat/ A/C are in the off positions .
Actually , it's on all the time once the car is started but at slower speed.
Question I have a c7 and when I accelerate it makes that noise and it’s coming from the AC blower is located. Still throws air and everything but could it be that?
Try doing it in a 70 Chevelle.
Is the 81 any easier than that 82?
So you couldn't take out fender shield
Little man!
Jeez I wish my Vette was that sharp! I hope I never have to replace that blower motor! Check out my channel if you want to see me getting mine back on the road.
It was not your video it was William's. 😆
As soon as you showed where the blower is located I knee it had to come out the bottom. Seems I remember other cars that you had to do that.
Ya didn't wash the squirrel cage blower
Very good. I thought I was the only one. It would have been a good time to hose down the evaporator too.
Or put the buytl sealant around the mating face
You made that look way to simple. You know there is nothing on a Corvette that simple to work on!
My blower motor is more quiet than that. It don't run lol
Liam is ok. Get the next generation interested or the cars will disappear
Ughhhh crossfire injection😖
