Thank you.... I would not have tried this without this video. That’s not to say I am done though.
Of course AFTER I took everything apart I saw the piece on bolting the spring down but no harm. Just a scare. The regulator was actually much easier to get out than I thought it would be. Found a NOS regulator on line ( the regulator gear was all worn down) and working up nerve and the proper time to put it back together.
Thanks again for a great video.
Oh, BTW.... please get a chick to do all the crouching down in the next video . Because you just can’t unsee a Norge man butt crack! LOL

Thanks for making this. HOWEVER, you can replace the motor with out removing the regulator. just take the bottom bolt out and loosening the two top bolts, INSTALLING A SAFETY BOLT THROUGH THE REGULATOR IN THE 1/2 WAY DOWN POSITION.
then you can safely take the motor out and back in. NO MESSING WITH THE WINDOW.

Great job, I am starting mine tomorrow. Do the wheels that go in the vertical rails need to be started from the top of the rail tracks or bottom, or can they be put in anywhere along track??? Also there is a hole in the regulator gear mechanism for putting a bolt and nut through that locks mechanism in place to keep you from guillotining your fingers off if the sprung mechanism decides to let go during motor replacement on bench! Hope it helps! THANKS AGAIN , GREAT JOB!!!

If you have a high mileage car, I'd replace the regulator also. New ones are available and they come with a stainless steel gear piece. I plan on doing this and also removing the window glass also to replace the nylon roller on it. The roller and the. nylon buttons are also available. To remove the window glass, you have to remove the stainless steel trim piece and rubber seal that runs along the top of the fiberglass top of the door adjacent to the window glass. My C3 has about 90,000 miles on it so I assume all the window stuff is worn.

Great video. My both windows' motors work. The windows go up, then stop in the middle, kind of "slip" (grinding sound) for a few seconds and after struggling continue to go up almost all the way. The same when lowering the windows. Feels as if the teeth go off the wheel for a few seconds and then re-connect. Or perhaps there might be some teeth missing?? The motor "sounds" strong. Do you know what this could be?
    Thanks

A struggling motor is usually a dirty regulator. You need to go through the same process, but instead of swapping motors clean out the old grease and regrease the track. Your window will fly after that. Seriously - they move really fast when they're in good shape.
