Outstanding Video, I wish I could have viewed this exactly educational video before I rebuilt my 77 vet window regulators. It was a challenge getting it back together. In this video he made it look easy.
Realy good video it‘s helps a lot! One thing, it‘s easier to put window in before you assembling the outer seal and trim. The service manuel tell them also ☝🏼😉
I've watched endless how-to videos on C3 restorations. This is the most detailed, informative one I've had the pleasure of watching. Thank you. Very helpful.
Really great video. About that plastic shield discussed at 9:12. I didn''t install it. It's sn anti-theft shield. How it works relates to the discussion at 37:00. At this latter time point, the discussion relates to a critical gap in the door open pushrod mating to the door latch mechanism. Too big or too small of a gap results in the door not opening.....the dreaded C3 Corvette door lock horror . A common cure for the door lock horror, is to push a screw driver down through the door window slot opening and mechanically opening the door with the screw driver. If the plastic shield is in place, this screwdriver trick won't work because of the plastic shield. Today, in 2025, there's very few car thieves that know about the screw driver trick to open a locked Corvette. So leave out the plastic shield so you have this back door technique to open your car if it's locked.
GREAT VIDEO - you can actually install the window with roller on it from the top. The weather stripping needs to be removed then lower window down and install 2 nuts. Next lower window to lowest point and install weather stripping. Super video I did mine differently on 1976 corvette.
Awesome video. Lots of us appreciate you posting it. Thank you. I must be a moron: I took all the parts out, cleaned them and painted them. Some have PAR-15, others is the clear rust prevention spray. I know no one will ever see the parts I painted or polished, but I did, I know exactly what they look like. I’m just looking at the amount of time (wasted time) it took me to do all of that work that will never be seen.
The guy who restored my 76 vette was a guy who has no pride. Do you believe he installed the interior without using the metal retainers? I’m not kidding you. I’m having the car painted, and while I’m at it, I decided to strip the interior. Every interior part is screwed to the other, no clips and no retainers. The screws don’t even match. I found wood screws and deck screws holding everything together. No wonder he said that everything rattles. Now I’m looking for videos of installation of the interior, just so I can order the parts that are missing. On your video, you installed a plastic part, which is a water deflection part. My doors are missing that plus other parts. Thanks for sharing. If I didn’t watch your video, I wouldn’t have known 3 parts are missing in my doors.
Thanx for taking the time to comment and for the kind words. I know how you feel, I’ve spent many hours stressing over details that nobody will ever see except the next guy who tears it apart. Haha. The interior is such a bear on these C3’s. I have a few interior videos I’m in the process of editing but just havent gotten them finished yet. Between trying to find all the pieces and knowing what is missing like you pointed out is enough to drive anyone crazy. When I bought this car the interior was gutted, thanx to eBay and the diagrams in the Paragon catalog I’ve been able to get it together but it’s been a journey. Anywho, thanx again and best of luck to you Tony
In Iowa too have my own 70 Vette project I've done epoxy repairs and in epoxy primer. I will be pulling my doors to clean it up for repaint. Good videos 👍
Did you even do a video on installing the rest of the door items? I'm looking for some guidance on the weather seal and the door panel. Also - how to adjust the window for fitment.
Possibly, I’m not entirely sure as I haven’t tried to do so. There’s a surprising amount of room to mess around even with the window installed, you can probably do most things with it up or down but you may need to work on your contortionist skills.
I’m on my fourth install of the handle and rod. The top clip keeps popping off, I think due to the rod turning under load. The rod is also making contact with the lock arm, which is causing it to get jammed up. Any advice? How can I keep the top clip on and make it so the rod stays where it should?
@@ratfarm767 Thanks for the reply. I double checked everything and installed the lower rod clip before testing and it seems to be holding. Couldn’t have done the job without your video! Thanks!
was thinking about it, if I do, i'll just cut the pieces out of some thick painters plastic. If anything, I doubt it does much for sound proofing but it probably keeps the water/moisture from forming mold on the cardboard like material the backsides of the door panels are made of.
@@patd4346 ahh sorry misunderstood, nah I’m not going to put anything on the door skin. I know how things like that go for me.. it’ll come lose and get all crumpled up under the window mechanism. Somebody once told me if it’s too loud your too old. Haha
@@wheelenshit2ko I haven’t gotten any further since I did the video. Waiting until I get the windshield installed and t-tops mounted so I can adjust the glass. Once I get that done, I’ll do an update on it.
I’m not quite to that point yet but when I get there I’ll see what I can do. I still need to install the windshield and get the t-tops fitted first. Slow but sure.
Great video! Even included a "that's what she said" comment.
Thanks. Takes both hands to roll windows up and down on my garage queen. Time for a regulator overhaul and new weather strips. Good video.
Thanx for the kind words. Good luck 👍🏻
Probably the most detailed video I've ever seen, thank you for posting

Thank you a TON for making this video! I just got my C3 a few weeks ago and my door windows rattle to no end. I'm going to be fixing that with this!
Congrats and glad to hear this video helped you out. Good luck on your new vette!

Great video no BS . I used on1970 coupe. The velt guides where in different location. Mine has power windows. I learn the need to clean tracks. Thanks
same here, my window is electric and moving slow, think just need to clean tracks before motor burned away
Thank so much. Yours is the only video that actually worked for me. 👍
I’m happy it worked for you 😀
Great video... Will make my life much easier... Thx... Wish there was a vid like this for a C1.... M
Exactly what I needed. Thank you! I was a little stressed about doing this job and now, I’m looking forward to it.
Two years later - I'm finally re-watching this to do mine. Super helpful!
Thanks, very thorough

Nice job showing the task.

Priceless! Thank You
Look forward to window adjusting !
Outstanding video explanation
thank you!
That was great, thank you so much.
Great video! I would have applied white lithium grease to the rollers and rails while you had access.
agreed!
Thank you so much. Very helpful video
Excellent tutorial. Thank you.
9:43. That’s what she said! Good one.
Outstanding very well done 👍
Nice job on the video. I've lost a lot of hair trying to put that back nut on the outer door handle on.
Lol. No doubt, you gotta be a contortionist to assemble these doors.
Leave off the back nut. One nut hold down the door handle very nicely. I think that nut goes in easier, if the door latch is not yet installed.
Did you even do a video on installing the rest of the door items? I'm looking for some guidance on the weather seal and the door panel. Also - how to adjust the window for fitment.
I never did, was going to like a lot of other things I just didn’t get around to filming it.
@@ratfarm767 No worries. I got most of the parts on and all that’s left is the window adjustment and card, which can wait. 👍🏼
First door took 8 hours

Second door 1 hour

What do you call that piece at 9:07 ? My driver side door is missing it.
Is it a water diverter, or anti theft?
I lubed the wheels and tracks 1st. there is limited access after installing. Looks good.
Thanks very helpful
great video! is it possible to adjust the exterior door handle with the window in the car?

Hmm I’m not sure. Could you put a small zip tie around the clip to keep it from popping off?
@@ratfarm767 Thanks for the reply. I double checked everything and installed the lower rod clip before testing and it seems to be holding. Couldn’t have done the job without your video! Thanks!
Hello where did you buy the felt kit. The one I purchased will not stay snapped in.
Thanks Tom

Any plans to put stick on sound deadener on the inside of the outer door skin?

Rear view mirror?
I didn’t add the mirror install on this video, I figured it was a simple enough task, same with the door panels etc.
I need to know where all the other little things go. Car has been sitting for 20+ years and putting it back together is a struggle.
Indeed there’s a lot of little pieces on these cars. My car sat from 1981 until I drug it out of a barn in 2019. It was a real mess.
@@ratfarm767 do you have any pics or can show how it goes right before the door panel is on
