What's even more sickening to me is that Suzane was well aware of _what_ her little brother was about to witness and still let him walk in on the crime scene anyways. She may have been having issues with her parents but she knew her brother didn't, he loved her and he loved them. She willingly traumatized her brother for life for a man she wasted no time at all in turning on. Utterly wicked.

I don’t know if Andreas already planned to go to that party, or if Suzanne set it up for her brother just so she could use him as part of her alibi. Either way she’s still a horrid woman for toying with his emotions like that.

Just an update on this: Suzanne has been released into open regime after 20 years on good behaviour, seems to be living in a small town somewhere, had a kid or is still pregnant, not sure. Not sure if she married. She went into the courts to try to inherit her parent's fortune but lost. The fortune has been passed solely to Andreas, and it seems it's been administered by some sort of family holding.

Update on this case: she's currently held in an open regime, and she's dating a doctor from my hometown. She's pregnant and is planning on naming her daughter Isabella. There's evidence she wanted to name her future daughter that a long time ago, but she's taunting people by saying it's in memory of Isabella Nardoni, a 6 year old girl who was murdered here in Brazil. She says it's because she's friends with the girl's stepmother, who is actually the one who killed her, so everyone is understandably furious. Also, the man who is dating Suzane has two small kids from a previous marriage, and both his ex-wife's family and his own family is forbidding him from having contact with the kids while he's still with Suzane.

He's a grown man now - people leave us behind when we have immense trauma that they can not fathom.
They aren't equipped nor qualified to save us from ourselves when we act out with self-sabotage.
I'm assuming he had developed a drug addiction - maybe he was too out of control and was left behind.

Hey! Brazilian here. Thanks alot for your coverage on this case. Few things to add: 1- Suzane actually was already released due good behavior. She got her sentece reduced by 1/5. 2- She was judged unworthy of any assets of her parent, making her brother the sole heir. 3- she is already back at law school, and adopted a new name. That was a major news here in Brazil a couple weeks ago. 4- there is a lot of suspicion that Andreas at least knew about the crime beforehand. However, he was a 13yo kid. I can't imagine the huge dilemma this guy faced.5- Suzanne's grandfather was Baron Von Richthofen, also know as the Red Baron. He was a huge war pilot on the First world War, fighting for the German side. He holds the records dogfights victories on that war, defeating 81 aircrafts from the Allies. Hence, most of their money also came from military pensions for his services on the war.

The point was that a person exhibiting visible signs of grief, or lack thereof, is evidence of nothing, as different people experience and deal with grief differently. That the person had something to do with the deceased's death or not has nothing to do with this.
For example: When my grandfather passed away, I was completely unaffected, inside or out, for a long time. It wasn't until after I carried him to his grave and was at my grandmother's house after the funeral, and she handed me his watch, that I finally broke down. He was the closest family member I've ever lost and I loved him a lot, perhaps more than anyone else in my family, living or not. His death was also very unexpected, as he wasn't that old, only being 64. It's like I went numb for that time, subconsciously allowing me to function until the stuff that needed to get done was taken care of.

Hello Adrian, thank you once more for your respectful and (in a good way) detached manner to present yet another shocking case. I admire you for being able to thoroughly research your topics, and to nonetheless condense them into just the right format that at least I can bear to watch. Life is stranger and more brutal than any fiction.
On the case: I still can not wrap my head around the fact that the mother was a psychiatrist! There is wisdom in the practise that doctors should not treat their own family members IMHO. If her daughter had been one of her patients, I do not doubt that she would have recognised the emerging narcissistic sociopath (my opinion).
I hope that Anreas vR was able to overcome his traumata, and to find a way to turn his life successfully around. When the parents do not approve of juvenile relationships, the siblings often cover for each other (not my own experience, but seen in families of friends, with both good and bad consequences - but never murder, phew). He seems to be a sensible and decent person, who was terribly used. Hopefully he is able to find trust in anybody in his life again.
This woman is and will forever be dangerous. Since she allegedly was already released from prison and allowed to study law again under an new name (source: other commenters from Brazil over the last six months), the world must be prepared to hear from her again. It seems that even in prison she was privileged. She has no need to change her ways or learn something, because being herself, she always was and is successful (don't fix it if it isn't broken...).
Maybe the gangs in Brazil will some day exact poetic justice (but more likely, she will become the Big Bad Mama ruling of one of them...).

Brazilian here. I'm well familiar with this case and its aftermath. There have been some inconsistencies in the updates about Andreas's condition in different comments, so I'm hoping to clear some things up:
    - Andreas was indeed taken in by his uncle, but that was right after his parents’ murders and Suzane’s arrest. In the following years, under his uncle's care, he finished high-school and got a degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry from USP, one of Brazil’s most prestigious universities; he later obtained his PhD from the same institution. A friend of mine studied with him during his undergraduate course. He reminds Andreas as a quiet young man who mostly kept to himself. He also says Andreas was stoned most of the time, though it didn’t seem to impact his academic performance and, as far as I’m aware, we’re only talking about weed at this point.
    - When Andreas was found incoherent and hurt after breaking into some random people’s homes, that was YEARS after he had finished his education. Some articles in Brazil looked for people who might have known him, and one of his advisors from the university came forward to say he remembers Andreas as a smart, gifted student, but hadn’t heard from him in years. That suggests he abandoned academia in the years in between. When he was found and committed to an institution, it was stated that it wasn't simply a case of mental breakdown, but drug induced. This episode seemed to confirm the rumors that Andreas delved deep into addiction.
    - The uncle who had raised him stepped up once again to have Andreas committed following this incident. At the time this happened, they were no longer living together and there's no indication if Andreas remained under his uncle's care after being discharged from the hospital. What we know is that several properties owned by the Richthofen state and left to Andreas are now abandoned and the unpaid taxes keep piling up, and the government is unable to reach him. There are rumors that he's currently living abroad, but as far as we know, he just went off the map. We also have no information if Andrea is married as of now.

@@guywholikesplanes I just found an article that reads:
"A relative of the German World War I flying ace known as the Red Baron has been sentenced to 39 years in jail for killing her wealthy parents in Brazil. Suzane von Richthofen, 22, whose father was a great nephew of fighter pilot Baron von Richthofen, was found guilty of the murders by a Sao Paulo court."

Leaving an 18 year old daughter and 14 year old son alone and unsupervised for one month! These parents were not only neglectful but down right stupid. And, to top it off they didn’t approve of their daughter’s boyfriend. A true recipe for disaster.

God how tragic. The murderer is having a grand old time going to parties bc she has no remorse and no conscience meanwhile Andreas has lost everything and seems to be paralyzed with grief, understandably so. If my sister murdered my parents I would have a mental breakdown too. So sad. Hope he has some people he can count on
    Thanks for the video!

This is the world we live in where some of the most despicable people you can imagine are rewarded and looked upon as role-models. Apparently it appears to be the world that a large number of people want, because few people seem to be in a hurry to change it.

How come the mother, a med psyquiatrist did not see the daughter's psycopathic traits and perversion...? This case is very bizarre. Andreas needs to live hidden from the sister because of the bloody inheritance! As long as he has money, he will be in danger.

For anyone interested in more details about the case, as a brazilian i feel obligated to recommend you all the book "Suzane: assassina e manipuladora" (or "suzane: murderer and manipulator" in a free translation)
Written by Ullisses campbell, it is a deeply researched and well structured book

Thanks for info, but I don't think I want to waste my time reading about this waste-of-breath human or rather this poop. Like my mother taught us, "why engage with a worthless, foolish, and hateful soul because they are lower than dog poop; do you give time to dog poop you see on the ground? No. So by the same token, don't engage with such folks."

    Poor Andreas, man.
He didn't deserve such a horrible person as his sister. I can only imagine what goes on in his brain with what happened.
Hopefully he can recover and live a good rest of his life.
