How Ultrakill Mastered The Final Boss

- The final boss is the most fun part of a video game in my opinion. Whether it be Malenia in Elden Ring, or the True Radiance in Hollow Knight, these challenges make or break a game. They're always difficult, beautiful and super fun. They take you through the hardest part of the game, make your perfect your skills and gameplay, and then give you one last battle.
I've looked through Elden Ring, Hollow Knight, TF2, Terraria and even Undertale but I've come to the conclusion that Ultrakill's final bosses are the best; those two being Minos Prime, and Sisyphus Prime.
These bosses are funny, challenging and more importantly, mechanically complex. By chaining combos with your weapons, oneshotting and getting p ranks, you're gonna need to learn everything to fully defeat the hardest bosses in video games as a whole. Combined with the best movement shooter's mechanics, it's a recipe for success.
This is how Ultrakill perfected the final boss, where I analyze, rank, and give you tips and tricks to every boss fight in Ultrakill, as well as show you some speedruns and funny moments.

One thing I love about ultrakill is that the bossfights are so fast that when you watch it as a new player, you would think that it would be sped up, when it isn't
I just realized how correct you are lol.
The funniest part is that even though Minos is so fast, after fighting and beating sisyphus he looks down right sluggish
@@darkmega97 Minos Prime felt like an immovable object and unstoppable force the first time I fought him, Fought sisyphus prime (took 200 tries for sisyphus), came back to minos, and it felt like I was fighting a wet noodle

Minos Prime often says "Die!". This is a slight nod to the fact that he will kill you. This reference is best observed on Violent Difficulty.
If not clear enough, Ultrakill Must Die Difficulty can make the process much more observable

I found the level harder than the actual boss
@@techno952 Tbh when you do it a few times the level is harder than the boss
The level is so much harder than the boss imo, p ranks can kiss my ass
Say less, Ultrakill players were NOT supposed to be able to handle 2 women at the same time.
One small thing to note about Minos Prime and Sisyphus Prime is that technically they are not teleporting. They are just moving THAT fast. Mindflayers teleport, Prime Sanctum guys dash.
Sisyphus _does_ teleport, but it's only a few specific times. everything else is speed
Watch Hakita put out some WordOfGod canon info that says it's just too fast for our eyes and it's actual speed too.@@uncroppedsoop
Imagine having some sort of time stop ability and you use it on the prime bosses just to see minos yell "JUDGEMENT!" and then just start booking it
@@uncroppedsoop gameplay wise yes he teleports relative to your position.

What also makes prime bosses terrifying is that they don't need a physical body, they're using pure will power to beat you.
And this has already been said several times, but they don't teleport.
They just move so fast, you can barely see them.
Im sorry they *WHAT*
@@bepisdrinker that was pretty obvious though? usually teleportation doesn't invovle f*cking exploding the floor you teleport to

The thing about ULTRAKILL is the fact that it's so fast paced, new players who haven't touched ULTRAKILL will have an immediate sensory overload due to how stupidly stylish and fast paced it is
Can confirm, people seem overwhelmed with it, if only they understood how easy it actually is.

Yep, first play through I made the mistake of doing standard like the game recommended my hands don’t shake when I’m holding a pencil anymore
Its funny how Ultrakill isn't finished yet and has the best final bosses. The Prime Sanctums, the Climax levels to each layer and the Secret levels are the best thing I've had the pleasure of replaying (except 0-S and 2-S, those levels were scary).

P-2 feels like it's mocking you with it's difficulty
I feel it's the closest ultrakill has to Doom Eternal Master Level at tuis point. It makes you learn how to deal with mindflayers without compromising.
Tip for anyone struggling with Sisyphus: Practice setting up a rail coin against him, the damage adds up quickly,
Both variations saw traps work wonders too.
can confirm, this helps a ton!
When i was fighting Minos Prime, i was thinking: "I have never had this much fun getting my ass kicked."
pan-opt-ic-on, it's theoretical design for a miserable prison where prison cells are arranged in a cylinder around a central tower which houses the warden, importantly the prisoners cannot see the warden (or even know if the warden is there) but they know the warden could be looking directly at them at any moment which effectively trains them to behave like they're constantly being watched.
A method used in government / military prisons I think. Might be effective in regular federal prisons too.
pretty sure the panopticon is meant to psychologically torture inmates and would be a phenomenally ineffective means of reforming them
FLESH CUBE
you have to... stay on the ground to beat minos? i just slammed my head against a wall constantly jumping around and trying to stay mid air like a monkey. eventually somehow i did beat him by brute forcing the same strategy but i couldve known this earlier...
Just ultracoin him in the beginning then slide/dash around him, jumping only if he slams down
So the reason why people say that you should stay grounded is because Minos can just 3-hit combo you into a metallic pulp. This happens when Minos get an uppercut on you, so if you can dash away from his uppercut (prepare for it everytime you jump), he will just fly up, giving you a window to do things like attaching a magnet, projectile boosts or a basic railcoin.
Hope I sounds like a nerd.
Same, and will continue fighting him like that. Idc if It Is not optimal, I just love jumping around like a lunatic too much to not do that.
Doing P-2 on violent the first time around was extremely painful, taking about 2 hours. 70 or so hours of cybergrind later and the P-rank only took around an hour and a half of retries. However, contrary to P-1 which I usually P-rank as warmup when I boot up the game, P-2 remains a very hard level that I don't dare go into very often. (Minos Prime is still my favourite boss fight simply because of how ironically "relaxing" it has become)
I swear, fighting the Prime Souls is like taking drugs. It's a certified dopamine factory.
Minos and sisyphus don't teleport. They are canonically that speed.😂
Prime minos is crazy tho, one second i’m tryna dodge a shockwave, then the word “Judgement” pierces through my headphones, for then i am greeted with a POWERFUL dropkick 😭😭
Watching Minos' attacks just get me hyped for act III. I can't help but wonder and think about who the final boss might be. Gabriel again? -V2?- Oh yeah Hakita said no... Or maybe the true ending will be in another prime sanctum that can only accessed by beating the other prime sanctums, and beating the final boss. As in, kill the final boss, then the door opens, meaning whoever the final boss is will already be dead by the time you enter P-3, who is the true final boss. If you get all those P-ranks, only then the true end reveals itself, how interesting would that be?
Act 3 finale will be gabriel, p-3 will most likely be lucifer as stated in the 5-s terminal

Minos Prime literally looks like a dark souls 2 giant.
it was funny hearing you talk baout how the Hideous mass room makes 6-1 look easy, considering i beat that room on my first try in like 3 minutes
I’ve always thought flesh prison is the hardest boss in the game because everything else is predictable and consistent, the prison is, as it’s soundtrack indicates, chaos.
Flesh prison does have different attacks and different ways of showing them, they’re just a bit hard to see and understand lmao
personally i just kill the eyes and parry the hell out of its orbs, you can do fatal damage to it with its own shit
first time i played p-2 i thought the virtues in the second room were idoled and i didn't kill them...

I gotta say, after seeing the difficulty spike between Minos and Sisyphus I'm absolutely terrified of what Hakita is cooking up for P-3

P-3 with the current enemies and the new enemies from the last three layers… It’s going to be a bullet hell with them everywhere in the room.

TIP for P-2 "that" arena: If you suffer from skill issue, just grab your rocket launcher, go up, around the pillar in the middle of the room and straight to the door. This works because of what i like to call the "spawn block" which is a block that when touched, spawns the enemies in that room. Go up and around the spawn block and to the exit door of the arena.
Didn’t that get patched?
When I didn't know about ULTRAKILL, I wasn't very fond of the designs and concepts, but it all changed as soon as I got into the game.
Context is really important. If you have a clueless audience, they're going to judge things differently.
man, when p-2 came out i havent played ultrakill for months so doing p-2 was a grind. then i came to sisyphus and decided its time to p-rank the entire thing again
Me on my way to watch another video about how good ultrakill is: (im addicted)

the panopticon is just a sign that sisyphus will kick your ass
the fact that P-3 is coming up soon is unbelievably scary to anyone who struggled with Sisyphus
Cant wait for Act 3 to come out and a video called "How Ultrakill Mastered the Secret Superboss"
"this battle is hard, but two big men make me harder" is my favorite quote form this video
this video was cool and good :3
yay :D
Honestly, the hardest part to Minos Prime *is* getting perfect in every level before him. because, with his predictable moves and sound cues it is actually quite easy to see what he is doing next. and besides, even with gabriel most of my deaths were because I fell off of the arena and got disoriented- and with V2, well, just had to git gud- (got to say V2 took me back to my dark souls days at the end I am going to over qualify myself since I'd need two hands but I could read a book and parry him.) Sisyphus though I haven't gotten to but it looks like hell.
He had 3 of my top 10 games on here. Clicked instantly
I would agree with you on the fight alone. If you were to get a random player who was skilled at the game but hadn't played it at all (somehow) and put them against the ultrakill final bosses, they would probably have a better time. The thing that makes other bosses better for me in my opinion is the context. The buildup, the knowledge that you are facing a character that you have heard about for possibly a large portion of the game, or at least someone you have been indirectly fighting. The feeling of facing against your up against your ultimate adversary, or even your friend, is just a bit better than finding a guy who you have only heard about once or twice who then proceeds to beat you to death 50 times in a fun and infuriating manner.
5:05 if he even has a face
Your comment about how you beat Minos first try after coming back made me realize just how OP abilities like Frisk's load are.
Name the next ultrakill video something like "How ULTRAKILL Mastered THE GAME"
as max0r once said: “These attacks will bookend your obituary, and they will do it *really fucking fast.”*
The model for roblox minos prime is from a game called A Universal Time (AUT for short) which is a game I played the shit out of when I was a bit younger. After I found out that Minos existed in the game, I relearned the new combat system, I had the time of my life bullying children and making them question why the spot was talking about how he was gonna overthrow the heavens.
The phrase "The perfect balcance of a Boss relying on mechanical skill to defeat a player instead of a stacked health bar and damage numbers" resonated hard with me. Like Fuck Yes. A boss should be fun, should be a vibe check of your abilities as a player, and surely not an artificially longer or unfairly/umpromptedly hard battle. I'm going to keep this in mind as I develop games for sure. Thanks for the great video!
According to the hakita dev stream, the design philosophy for p-2 was "i thought it would be funny"
Swift minos prime gameplay to study and prepare thyself.

P-2 on violent is like what P-3 is going to be on harmless.
I would never have expected of finding an Adam Ragusea reference in a ultrakill video, but here we are i guess lol

Why do i have the feeling that when Ultrakill will get another update we will not only completly obliterate hell, but also V1 is going to the purgatory to purge it and then heaven, bc even if hell is empty, heaven isnt...
13:25 really gave us an entire recipe for us being cooked
The minos monologue isnt boring its badass

One thing I absolutely love about Ultrakill bosses, there is no waiting time, you just go, die, immediately go back, no long path, no loading screen, no cutscenes… just… immediately head back in
sisyphus is your boulder as much as you are his.
p-ranking p-2 was one of the most painful thing i have ever done in videogames but man if it was worth it
bro im doing my p ranks and this is just giving me the realization that the p grind is not as bad as 6-2
Other bosses: i have god powers that can destroy worlds
Minos Prime: i play yakuza
I just finished my violent difficulty p-2 p-rank and all i have to say is, masochism fuelled it
Heres a tip i wish i knew about flesh prison: even though you will take SOME damage, parrying the blue projecticles for damage is SO MUCH EASIER than using guns (doesnt mean stop shooting though)
honestly, minos is insanely easy if you know attack hitboxes and the timing between “Die!“ and when he fucking destroys you. If you’re good enough he’ll never use crush, and “Judgement!” can literally be dashed out of.
although, sisyphus is incredibly difficult at first sight, not only are his attack hitboxes MUCH larger than minos’s, they are also kind of hard to dash out of. (i.e Destroy!”). Certain attacks like “You can’t escape” is pretty to easy slide out of, and you can parry his nuts for free damage
sisyphus’s unnamed attacks are also threatening too, the ground slam is just minos’s “Crush!” but less telegraphed, the roundhouse kick is a pretty easy parry, and the overhead is just -1 stamina.
sisyphus’s attacks are just minos but harder? and it takes a little while to get used to. It’s really easy like minos but you can’t effortlessly end him.
parrying sisyphus's balls after escaping "you can't escape"
Minos Prime is the only boss in gaming history that shouts “Die!” and actually kills you
