As a human being that did the impossible and P-ranked this (put lightly) gauntlet of a level, it is nothing compared to the amount of time and dedication it must take to make a video this in depth that it makes me and many other members of this community rethink the level as a whole. In the wise words of a man who knew only struggle: Keep 'em comin'!
I was about to put this video on the side as some background but I was immediately captivated by the story that I had to give it my full attention, and I wasn't disappointed. The moment of realization when he said he doesn't "regret a second of it" coinciding with the "one must imagine Sisyphus happy" was so crazy to me for me I actually had my jaw drop irl. Great video
I’ve managed to beat P-2. But god, malicious game design beats random generation every time. Hakita really said “woe, double idol’d Mind Flayer upon ye” and just expected us to adapt. I uh. I don’t know that I’ll ever actually P Rank P-2. But that’s okay, because I beat the challenge-have fun. I was laughing the entire time, all the bullshit just another awesome thing to deal with. I had a similar experience with Hollow Knight's Path of Pain. I hate platforming, but I couldn't help but push on with a stupid grin on my face every time I saw a new room and all of its bullshit. Then I got to the end, got kicked back to the bench and left it at that.

I honestly love the fact that the same guy who voices Harry Dubois' Traits in Disco Elysium voices Sisyphus in Ultrakill. His voice work cannot be taken lightly and always hits hard.
I love how you played the Sands of Tide leitmotif part when you said "Let's fucking dance." That part of the song has a time signature that makes it very similar to waltz time, giving it a sort of swaying feeling. Almost like the power dynamic shifting between Sisyphus and the player
I did it yesterday. I finally P ranked P2 after 5 months of learning how to do the level and to perfect fighting Sisyphus. I fucking did it. I was shaking, my heart was pounding and my friend in the call yelled “YES!” When he realized that Sisyphus was almost dead. I did it. Looking back, I was actually exactly like Sisyphus. Coming so close to what I wanted, yet failing over and over and over again. It was painful, but beautiful.
tbh I find no tragic narrative in Sisyphus since he never truly suffer, yes he rolled a boulder for thousands of year, yes he knows that his struggles are futile in the end but in the end he was doing something he enjoyed and you can hear that in his last moments which compare to minos or even v2 who are screaming in agony while he was laughing like he enjoys his life.
@@_sarpa I know Sisyphus suffer but the way he go out by saying "And I never regret a second of it" in such a strong way right after saying his life is defined by futile efforts makes me doubt he really doesn't truly suffer in any meaningful way. I remember seeing people complain about P-2 when it released because it wasn't just a boss. In my opinion, P2 is exactly what a gauntlet level should be in every way. Using enemy mechanics and combining them to make a greater challenge, like the Blessed enemies. It almost makes the combat itself a puzzle, in a really good way.

Given what Sysiphs did and the measures used to contain him, I think the ARMY we will most likely fight through will be there to give Heaven time to mobilize rather than to keep the Prime Soul in this time. Edit: Reminder for those trying to obtain P-Rank, there is a Sky-Light... USE IT! True P-Rank is is going through the lead up to the boss though.
Got the P-Rank after trying for something like 4 days. One thing i like about myself is my determination, even after failing more than 1000 times, i get up and try again, and if that doesn't work, i get some rest and then i get back to work. You know, the feeling you have when you conclude something hard, something almost sisyphean, it's amazing, IT'S PERFECT, HAPPINESS. Remember guys, if you are thinking about giving up on something, never give up, because we ain't letting you down, and we ain't turning arround to desert you, YOU CAN DO EVERYTHING.
I absolutely loved the analysis of Sisyphus' story alongside the environmental storytelling of the levels. This is exactly what all of our English teachers wanted in high school English classes when they told us to analyze rhetoric
I hope hakita adds a secret prime sanctum in P-3 called P-P, where you have to p-rank the whole game, including the other prime sanctums, and the P-P boss better be Gabriel Prime I mean hakita must be giving Gabriel this character arc for a reason I would imagine it like this : after act 2 where Gabriel kills the council and shows the head to everyone in heaven they get scared of him but don't do anything because even tho they may would be able to overthrow him with armys his will to Destroy the machine would not let him die then at the end of act 3 after v1 beats him once again. The Angles see this as an opportunity to imprison the weakend Gabriel because he is a great threat to heaven they decide to lock him up deep in their last prison(P-3), where he awaits the machines arrival
Very Much Doubt It Gabriel is just as great as he is We don’t need a 4th fucking boss fight against him. His arc is done after the 3rd fight and will be the ending of Ultrakill Also, unsure if P-P will exist in the future. It’ll be cool along side P-S. Two more Prime Souls to fight
Minos may be the first boss meant to be fought with your peripheral vision, but Sisyphus is meant to be fought with the sense of a huge, angry yellow man approaching your ass
I love how this is the second part, we still have the third aka finale, and if the game so far is anything to go by, the levels by themselves will be extremely hard, bosses even harder, P ranks near impossible and I'm just waiting for basically an entire small army in p-3 before fucking God or some shit which is gonna be like a 4 phase fight where his 3rd phase moves include him coming out the computer punching you and then unplugging your computer and you know for a fact we'll love every second of it
It's a rare treat to find a content creator who is both CRAZY at the game they play AND putting out quality content. This vid is top notch man! KEEP EM COMIN'🔥
Excellent video on a great level. When I first beat p-1 and p-2 I told myself that p ranking them was the one thing I would just never do in this game no matter what especially since I play on controller. I started doing p-2 runs just for fun and got better and better and slowly started realizing that maybe a p rank was possible. It took me probably 300+ tries to do it and another 200 to get to my current best time on it (7:26) and it feels great having done something I considered literally impossible for myself. Also I p ranked p-2 before p-1 and when I went back to p-1 I got the p rank in like 3 tries lmao, this level literally morphs you into a murdering machine.
15:51 Can I be honest? I actually practice A, S, and P-ranking p-2 every time I play ULTRAKILL, so my skill doesn't rust up.. I often use the JACKHAMMER, SAWBLADE LAUNCHER, JUMPSTART, and SRS LAUNCHER to clear out troublesome or large crowds of enemies. For SRS, I use it for the Sentries in the Blessed Stalker Room and the Hallway With Cerberbus And Those Two StreetCleaners! Also, HUGE tip, When entering the Blessed Stalker Room, when the Ferryman spawns, throw up at least 2+ coins and hit them up with a Charged Slab Piercer Shot. This will do massive damage to a SwordsM. or the Ferryman. Right after that, get to the middle of the arena and place a Sawtrap and connect your Jumpstart wire to one of the enemies there. Also nuke 'em.
I've got only one thing to say about this channel and it's: "Keep em coming"

THIS VIDEO FINALLY GAVE ME THE WORDS TO DESCRIBE WHY SISYPHUS' LEITMOTIF HITS ME SO HARD. WHILE MINOS' STILL SHOWS THE HOPE OF STILL COMING OUT ON TOP, SISYPHUS' SHOWS A REALIZING THAT IT'S ENTIRELY FUTILE. AND YET HE KEEPS GOING. GOD I LOVE SISYPHUS ULTRAKILL
Nah, that's just sisyphus in general. He knows it's all pointless, but he likes it
I remember getting through the entire level out of spite on a bad day on a P-Rank, shredding flesh panopticon and softlocking the game when sisyphus was MEANT to break out. But the prison was just violently shaking and nothing happened.
One must imagine V1 happy
jesus christ man
Sisyphus turned Ultrakill from an FPS to a rhythm resource management game
the resource you manage is your Sanity, by the time you get to the boss you have no resources left to manage.
its like you crawled into my brain and squeezed the thoughts out.
loved the video man, especially the motivation part in the end to sum it up. would love to see more ultrakill stuff, maybe a gabriel video since he is also very complex and interesting (i wouldn't blame you if you will wait untill act 3 to see the end). looking forward to see more dude (:
never thought i would be elated after reading “its like you crawled into my brain and squeezed my thoughs out” but here we are lol
thanks a ton
"And if you land a charge back in this room you will feel like Jesus prime"
the best part is that when i first beat p-2 is that my first through it "we still have p-3 to go through." that thought is still VERY relevant.
watch them pull something evil and make a P-4, gotta perfect every P level beforehand to fight Jesus prime, or Actual fucking god/Hell.
God, I love this game.
I had a similar experience with Hollow Knight's Path of Pain. I hate platforming, but I couldn't help but push on with a stupid grin on my face every time I saw a new room and all of its bullshit. Then I got to the end, got kicked back to the bench and left it at that.
I only relatively recently perfected it and i'm almost sad that I don't have any more proverbial boulders to push - atleast for now
@@aninterloper6695If you want some more challenges, I encourage you to download Angry Level Loader and play some of the stuff the community has made. I haven't found anything quite like P-2 in terms of encounter design, but there are some pretty damn though maps out there.
P ranking it was such an experience for me. I remember one time I got an s rank with 1 death and that shit taunted me for over a month before I finally got the p rank
@@kveller555same i was smiling the whole time but near the end i was getting way too frustrated at losing (at the literal last stage and it wasn't even the hardest of them all)
But after i did it i felt such relief
I honestly love the fact that the same guy who voices Harry Dubois' Traits in Disco Elysium voices Sisyphus in Ultrakill. His voice work cannot be taken lightly and always hits hard.
I love how you played the Sands of Tide leitmotif part when you said "Let's fucking dance." That part of the song has a time signature that makes it very similar to waltz time, giving it a sort of swaying feeling. Almost like the power dynamic shifting between Sisyphus and the player
if P-2 was THIS much of an exam, im scared to even think about P-3
I did it yesterday. I finally P ranked P2 after 5 months of learning how to do the level and to perfect fighting Sisyphus. I fucking did it. I was shaking, my heart was pounding and my friend in the call yelled “YES!” When he realized that Sisyphus was almost dead. I did it.
Looking back, I was actually exactly like Sisyphus. Coming so close to what I wanted, yet failing over and over and over again. It was painful, but beautiful.
Now, something to point out for newcomers, is that the first release of P-2, sisyphus was A LOT harder, as in phase 2, he was completely unparryable.
i remember that Sisyphus was not tested correctly in violent when P-2 first came out
im not sure if that's true or just a joke lmao
tbh I find no tragic narrative in Sisyphus since he never truly suffer, yes he rolled a boulder for thousands of year, yes he knows that his struggles are futile in the end but in the end he was doing something he enjoyed and you can hear that in his last moments which compare to minos or even v2 who are screaming in agony while he was laughing like he enjoys his life.
you think people only suffer when they show it? why do you think there's the word 'imagine' in 'one must imagine Sisyphus happy?'
@@_sarpa I know Sisyphus suffer but the way he go out by saying "And I never regret a second of it" in such a strong way right after saying his life is defined by futile efforts makes me doubt he really doesn't truly suffer in any meaningful way. Also the "imagine" can be applied to Hatika imagining Sisyphus being happy
@@ohnoanyway6096 compare it with Nietzsche's quote: "For nothing is self-sufficient, neither in us ourselves nor in things; and if our soul has trembled with happiness and sounded like a harp string just once, all eternity was needed to produce this one event-and in this single moment of affirmation all eternity was called good, redeemed, justified, and affirmed."
How in gods name are you below 1k subs. This video, like the Minos prime vid, was a wonderfully edited, scripted, recorded masterpiece that I’d expect from a channel with 100x your subscribers. Congrats and keep up the good work man, you’ll make it.
Wait only 1k?
War started out below Order in my list of favorite Ultrakill tracks, but its lately been an integral part of my workout playlist that I use to run, almost always being the song I finish on to push myself just that bit further. The music and the story behind it are perfect for forcing yourself to power through it and push yourself even beyond.
“Ultrakill’s only dark level”
0-S and Something Wicked: “Am I a joke to you?”
0-S is another game at this point
Secret levels are just separate game genres.
0-S = horror
1-S = puzzle
We don't talk about 2-S
4-S is just a different game
5-S = relaxation
7-S = power wash simulator
P-ranking p-2 made me so happy that i screamed hard enough to the point where my voice was sore for 2 days. Definitely one of my greatest gaming achievements. Everytime i replay p-2 I'm like "Man, I've improved so much, this part used to be AGONIZING back then"
I’ve never played this game, but holy SHIT do I love your narration. The analysis, the connections, man, you have a talent.
I love how Sisyphus is having just as much, if not more fun, as you when you fight him. Now after I've beat him I just boot up p-2 every week or so to keep him company because it feels like a nice spar between bros
The spaghetti tunnel room almost made me motion sick. It was the second time a video game had made me motion sick, the first being Pizza Time's background
When I first fought Sisyphous I didn't have subtitles on and thought that he said "Rebirth Cometh!" every time you respawn.
The line “DESTROY” is a subtle hint that Sisyphus is going to destroy you. Excellent game!!
"its a tale of struggle, defiance, and death"
hmmmmmm
i wonder who's story this reminds me of
Just wait until P-3 where after you beat the flesh sphere inside it is just goku
*Sphere explodes* So... I heard you're pretty strong...
Absolutely great video man! Legit gave me the inspiration to continue my P-2 p rank attempts
The way you narrated this was amazing! I got actual chills when you said "you don't".
This boss’s lore is legit if masochism and sadism had a child and it chose to become spite itself
Here 10 months later, attempting to P-rank this hellish level on Brutal, getting closer and closer as the days go on, truly a Sisyphean task... but taking a page from Sisyhpus' book, I am learning to enjoy this struggle, and one must imagine Sisyphus happy
I can do P-2's "gauntlet" just fine. It's just I die to Sisyphus too much and end up getting a C.
lol im the opposite, sisyphus himself is amazing, felt like we were just playin
the gauntlet however.... f that stalker
fucking phenomenal video, im so glad i found this on my feed. you echoed the same thoughts i had and the feelings that kept me coming back to P-2 and ultrakill in general. the thought that this is just the climax of act 2 makes me genuinely so excited for what act 3 has to offer. awesome work dude :)
when he says "be gone", you quite literally get clapped into atoms
I remember seeing people complain about P-2 when it released because it wasn't just a boss. In my opinion, P2 is exactly what a gauntlet level should be in every way. Using enemy mechanics and combining them to make a greater challenge, like the Blessed enemies. It almost makes the combat itself a puzzle, in a really good way.
To fix your arm problem: you can bind each arm to separate buttons so for example you could leave feedbacker as f and set the knuckleblaster to g and leave whiplash as r
you using rocket jumps to keep momentum during the sisphus fight looks so fucking stylish. Keep em coming
yeah, it was something i learned when P ranking it the first time, when he was still
unparriable. i kept running out of stamina, so i would die. now i dont really need to do it but its awesome and if it aint broke dont fix it lol
Top tier video man.
The edits and commentary were on point. Humorous but not overwhelming. Cant wait to see more of your stuff!
Edit: hooo boi a music analysis
Damm that one line he said was personal “ I’m curious about your skill weapon” now that was personal for real imagine minos and Sisyphus were covered in sand the enemy trait were they don’t expel blood everywhere
This is such a well-documented and edited video
you're seriously underrated, yrowe, keep up the good work
I kept seeing this video on my feed, which is how I even learned about prime sanctums in the first place. And MAN it was a struggle trying not to watch these until I’d seen and finished them myself. And I must say.
*I don’t regret a single thing.*
P-3? You think Hakita won’t do the funny P-P?
he totally would lol
@@yrowe maybe he'll do P-3 and then after P-ranking ALL levels you get an additional P-P level?
@@nathanlaleff4273add a act P lol
@@Boboom222don't give hakita ideas
P-2 is already painful enough
I loved the video. Not only you talked about the gameplay, you talked about the lore and the music. The script was also amazing i'm still thinking about what you said about finding joy in the struggle
at 11:00 a correction: sishipus soul was already formed where as minos's wasnt , it is remarkable in the spawn animation
pro tips, you actually can shoot the water with "THY" railgun, so you could get the saw without the whiplash
Yo, I was waiting for Sisyphus, I know this is gonna be a good video
Anyway after watching the entire video I can say it definitely sums up all the things I've went through in Act 2. (still haven't p ranked p-2 and I don't know if it's skill issue or I'm just too lazy)
yeah p-2 is crazy hard to p rank lol
I'm sure you will manage to beat p-2.
that mindflayer room is a bitch tho.
@@MetalMustBleed I KNOWWWWW that shit is so goddamn difficult i swear i always have like 70 hard damage in that room
@@yrowethat room is probably the most evil one in the level lol, i found using the little inclines where the SM spawns helps a lot to block the projectiles. rocket jumping right before they hit is also a really good way to deflect them and get a nice speedboost too
@@MetalMustBleed for real, I'm kinda just annoyed at the tunnel room and I'm basically used to the weezer room already.
The more I play p-2 now the more easier it's been getting so I've got alot of progress with it
lmao, I'm the guy who made the playlist at 0:36
I didn't expect that. I was watching and then "wait a sec that's me"
That's cool af, great video man
really? its an honor to have you here. plus that shit is hilarious so thanks for making it
@@yrowe thx, it's a shame one or two songs got removed so it's no longer perfect, but it was nice doing it
Wow.
What can I say? It is simply an AMAZING video, and you are underrated af
amazing video dude, i was genuinely so surprised when i saw the numbers, so im boosting them all up by 1
these videos are so cool man! you're definitely one of the best, if not the best ultrakill content creator out there. very entertaining, im dropping a sub :D. i swear, its always the big content creators that everyone appreciates the most because of the algorithm, but the small content creators make really awesome content too.
ngl this video makes me think that he is a lot like sans in that he lost hope but continues anyway and knows that you can "come back"
so you're telling me that i P-ranked the Greatest Level in Fps history in 4 Weeks without losing my mind : )
oh my god i would have loved to see the reaction after that
gg
@@yrowe it was like 12 : 30 too ! (night) also i litterally have the skill to do it but my heart wouldn't let me with that much hype lol
i also only had like 4-5 try's that i actually went to the boss room😄i got better skill by fighting Sisyphus with the secret path to the Panopticon room too !
We can only shiver in fear for what would come in P-3
Remember guys, if you are thinking about giving up on something, never give up, because we ain't letting you down, and we ain't turning arround to desert you, YOU CAN DO EVERYTHING.
we must imagine all of us happy
I absolutely loved the analysis of Sisyphus' story alongside the environmental storytelling of the levels. This is exactly what all of our English teachers wanted in high school English classes when they told us to analyze rhetoric
17:17 Sisyphus’s final moments before being bandicoot-spun into oblivion.
+scrindolugonded
the ending was very poetic. I can't wait to get back into this.
Bro pushed a rock for years just to get killed by a robot
i was not ready for this level of narration. bravo my guy i have been blown off
1:54 Nobody talks about 0-S it isn't real it can't hurt us.
Now we also have 7-3
@@demoman5864 the forest walk part with the mannequins had me shitting my pants lmao
Man I love it when RUclips recommends me insane shit like this, loved it man keep it up
I hope hakita adds a secret prime sanctum in P-3 called P-P, where you have to p-rank the whole game, including the other prime sanctums, and the P-P boss better be Gabriel Prime I mean hakita must be giving Gabriel this character arc for a reason I would imagine it like this : after act 2 where Gabriel kills the council and shows the head to everyone in heaven they get scared of him but don't do anything because even tho they may would be able to overthrow him with armys his will to Destroy the machine would not let him die then at the end of act 3 after v1 beats him once again. The Angles see this as an opportunity to imprison the weakend Gabriel because he is a great threat to heaven they decide to lock him up deep in their last prison(P-3), where he awaits the machines arrival
Very Much Doubt It
Gabriel is just as great as he is
We don’t need a 4th fucking boss fight against him. His arc is done after the 3rd fight and will be the ending of Ultrakill
Also, unsure if P-P will exist in the future. It’ll be cool along side P-S.
Two more Prime Souls to fight
p-p nor p-s will happen, he's busted it long ago
Minos may be the first boss meant to be fought with your peripheral vision, but Sisyphus is meant to be fought with the sense of a huge, angry yellow man approaching your ass
syphilis
16:39 that punch to the balls actually hurts
6:57 hakita did you one better
minos says “CRUSH!” because he crushes your soul.
sisyphus says “DESTROY!” cause he destroys your soul
12:54 Handsome Jack exists btw
Not me playing Borderlands while watching this
I love how this is the second part, we still have the third aka finale, and if the game so far is anything to go by, the levels by themselves will be extremely hard, bosses even harder, P ranks near impossible and I'm just waiting for basically an entire small army in p-3 before fucking God or some shit which is gonna be like a 4 phase fight where his 3rd phase moves include him coming out the computer punching you and then unplugging your computer and you know for a fact we'll love every second of it
It's a rare treat to find a content creator who is both CRAZY at the game they play AND putting out quality content. This vid is top notch man! KEEP EM COMIN'🔥
bro i watched this video and felt so inspired that i hopped back on p-2 violent and i p-ranked it for the first time thanks man!!!
i think this is one of the first ultrakill videos i’ve ever watched.
“Keep em’ coming!” - Sisyphus
It's probably the best feeling in gaming to try a challenge you know you'll never beat, just for fun, but you end up actually beating it
and there is still one left... P-3 that will probably be everyones personal hell
P-3 is going to be a test of how much fucking sanity you have left
and I assure you, you are going to lose all of it
You can still skip the whole level and go straight to the Penaptocon
