  • This video will show you how to drain and refill the rear differential fluid on the 2014-2020 Acura MDX SH-AWD models. Acura recommends you do this every 15k miles. DPSF fluid and plug washers were purchased in a kit from Bay I will provide a link below and also a link to the quart pump found on Amazon.

    There are different configurations for Acura Differentials, but ALL seem to be high maintenance. The one shown here is not valid for a 2015 RDX 3.5 L AWD.

    Great! Any ideal why VTM-4 light comes on after driving say around 1/2 mile and stay on. Anything to do with the oil itself. I hardly ever used the function. Its 2002 MDX touring. thank you

    thank you for your video.I have 2014 acura mdx. Do you have any idea how to chang the coolant? where is the radiator coolant drain switch location?

    • @BLUECOLLARGARAGE
      @BLUECOLLARGARAGE  Год назад

      Sorry haven’t done a coolant change on this yet but I’m assuming there’s a radiator drain at the bottom on either side.

      Remove the cover and you will see it near the transmission lines. There are two plugs, one in the radiator and one in the engine. The engine plug is near the oil filter. Locate the filter, move back and slightly up. The engine plug drains less than half of the coolant. I know this from when I did the timing belt and water pump. MDX 2014 AWD.

    thanks for the video. QQ- what is rear differential used for? I have 2014 with around 110K miles - have not changed this oil at all. I do not have a towing kit on it.

      It works in conjunction with the transfer case and gives power to the rear wheels when all wheel drive or four wheel drive is needed.

      @@BLUECOLLARGARAGEthanks for the video. Have you ever heard of using ATF in Honda rear diffs? I noticed the earlier MDXs called for Z1 ATF and somewhere mid 2010’s they started to call for the DPSF2. I want to use high quality Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Multi Vehicle ATF for both trans and rear diff, but secrecy and fear are making me cautious haha

      DPSF as shown in the video is for the SH-AWD version, as indicated in the manual. Also, the manual indicates this isn't required for FWD models. ATF is for the transmission; rear differential and transfer assembly fluids are exclusive to SH-AWD.
