- How to change the rear differential fluid on a 2007 -2013 Acura MDX using OEM Acura DPSF Fluid. 2.7 Qts. required. SH-AWD rear diff with active torque vectoring.
The differential, and the gears and fluid surrounding them is what ensures the wheels will turn at the speeds they need to turn to offer the car maximum stability during a drive. The gears inside the differential are surrounded by fluids that help keep them protected while the vehicle is in operation.

Just make sure you break the fill plug first before you drain and fluid. You don't wanna strip it or not be able to get the fill plug out and not be able to refill after you've drained.
Very good tip for anyone who did not catch it. He did break loose the fill plug before draining.
Great idea with the gravity method. Thanks for the tip.
No problem, glad to help!
@@JDMRightHandDrive the way better than small hand pump
Great post. I have the identical car. Question - where do you dispose of rear diff fluid and ATF fluid once it's drained?
Love this channel. Just found it.
Advance Auto
i only use Redline ATF D4, meets the oringal Honda ATF Z1 fluid, use the same fluid in the trans. The magnets litterely have almost no shavings
Your vids are AWESOME! Thank you!!!
Is transmission fluid and differential fluid the same? I can use the transmission fluid for the differential right? Nice video! I like the way you refilled it without pumping the oil.
According to Acura they claim the rear differentials at least for my model year now uses DPSF fluid, not Acura ATF. The side of my SH AWD diff did say ATF on it, but Acura says there was a revision and now DPSF us used not ATF. I would talk to the dealership service department for your specific year of production and see what they recommend. Good luck, glad the video helped you out.
@@JDMRightHandDrive Thanks for your response.
@@JDMRightHandDrive don't trust dealer guys 100%, they give confusing info always,,,
Thanks for the great tip with the gravity filling up thru the transparent hose! By the way, what was the diameter of the hose and its length?
RIGHT ON🤙🏽 Would like to see more of the #R32
Still working on the R32, I will have it ready for the track this summer!
Very clearly , well done thank you .👍
Glad it was helpful!
very nice video!
Thanks about everything body 👍
buddy is correct; not body!
Now I’m encouraged to service my own rear diff fluid instead of paying the dealership $120
Glad I was able to give you the inspiration. Now get underneath there and get the job done, I have faith in you!
Is there a video of changing transmission fluid of ACURA TLX? Thanks
I don't have a video. But I did own a TL and the transmission fluid exchange is done the same way as the MDX.
thank you
You're welcome
Thanks!
You bet!
Thanks 🙏
No problem, glad it helped you!
I have acura mdx 2013 is the same process and I have to change the guasha sorry my english
What was the diameter of the fill line you ran from the funnel to the fill hole?
I am not sure the exact size. I bought a low cost fluid hand pump at Walmart. The fluid pump was crap, but I removed the hose from it and it fit perfect with my funnel. I will measure it later when I get home.
@@JDMRightHandDrive I'm guessing 3/8 as 1/2 seems to fat and 1/4 too thin.
