- Well, I broke the transmission again in the Mighty Fiat 850 Sedan. That's all fixed and the engine and trans are ready to reinstall in the car, but before I do, it's time for another valve adjustment. Take a look at how easy it is to adjust the valves on the Fiat. doing it with the engine mounted in the car makes it a bit more difficult due to the height

Ideally you would set the valve clearance on the heel of the cam because it is usually the lowest part of the lobe, so which ever valve is fully closed you would adjust it's counter part on the other cylinder, (cylinder 1+4 paired and 2+3 paired)

This method is equal to the rule of nine ( e-i i-e e-i i-e ) method but can be used on any firing order unless your manual specifically states to set with the valves rocking on tdc.
I couldn't see that "Fiat tool" well enough to tell what the tops of those adjustment screws look like. I looked on Google, but they don't show that tool at all, just some kind of forked gadget that I assume is for the ohc engines. Enjoyed watching you do the adjustments anyway. Glad to hear the transmission is back together again.
