- Ageing is inevitable, but what if everything we've come to believe about ageing is wrong and we're able to choose our lifespans? What if ageing is a 𝑡𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 disease?
In this week's #HealthyLongevity #webinar, Prof David Sinclair from Harvard Medical School shares a bold new theory for why we age. Prof Sinclair is also the author of "Lifespan, Why We Age - and Why We Don’t Have To" (lifespanbook.com/).

Two longevity legends in one epic video! Bravo!
Brent Nally, you are financially free. You should become a scientist too. You are not too old for that yet, and im sure you'd do great. It already seems like you do know quite a bit of biology by this point anyways
@@fourthz4460 It would take a lot of time for me to get a PhD. I feel my time is best spent being the CEO of Longevity Plan, hosting Lifespan News and interviewing longevity thought leaders plus putting in the work every day to live the healthiest lifestyle possible based on the latest science.
@@BrentNally i see. So more of a company approach instead. That's great, there's a lot of potential to that too. Maybe someday you'll become the elon musk of the anti aging field? Hahaha that would be great.. we need an Elon musk in the longevity space! There should be more people like us, people who understand that aging is our biggest problem (maybe AI could become an even worse problem if dont do it right, but thats a different story)

Lots of people with a medical background critizising Sinclair, however they look their age or older. Sinclair looks 20+ years younger than he is. Guess who (as a layman) I am trusting. Besides, what he says sounds plausible.
Right !
All Sinclair has is theories,we are still decades away from learning the secreta of longevity, yet he did a great job doing research about longevity and we should be grateful for his job
@@gs-nq6mw A little more than theories, if he can reverse aging with certain substances. But yes, aging is as complicated as the human itself, which is the most complicated organism in the known universe.
David does not look young.
I guessed before googling and thought he looked late 40s early 50s. I googled his age and apparently he's 53- so at best he looks a few years younger than he is...
I also don't really trust him. There may be some science behind some of what he's saying but most of it is conjecture that he stands to profit too much off of. He has patents on his version of NMN and then he verifies some of his claims with his own companies. He also advises MetroBiotech which tried to get NMN banned as a supplement so that he could sell his proprietary version of NMN.
Can we please fund this man with everything he needs?
Really great conversation addressing some important questions in the field!
Certainly the last 2 minutes where educational too for the ageing ... keep moving in all fields .

Excellent video - thanks for posting
Two of the smartest persons giving free advices on anti-aging, nice.
Time is not toxic, bad habits are.
I have been watching Dr. Sinclair. His book is also very educative. I love that book. In there, there's no point increasing lifespan without health span. The goal should be to live longer while staying young and healthy. Sinclair believes that in the foreseeable future, it's possible for humans to live beyond 120 or even 150, without the frailty, diseases and disability we now associate with old age. I hate aging and the illnesses it brings over time. This is why I am now taking NMN supplement by Vitruvin constantly.
Do you feel a difference, worth the money? As a NAD precursor, that's the target. Candida eats up NAD and it helps it grow. I'll focus on the fungus for now.
People like David Sinclair, Aubrey de Grey, Jason Fung, Liz Parrish makes me honestly believe that we can say goodbye to pathetic diseases once and for all. It's great to hear that Vitruvin worked impressively to you as well... Hoping to get the same result in the long run :)
@@Rene-uz3eb I am also taking the same brand. So far it works for me for over a year already... I didn't experience any negative effects from maintaining this supplement (I hope so.) 🙂🙃
Happy to have read good results with Vitruvin...
Then, if it works with older adults, I'd have to convince my mum to try this product... 🙂
TOP LEVEL OF HUMANITY
Thank you @Dr.Sinclair for all your work. I used to get so frustrated when medical professionals would tell my father, you're getting older so we aren't going to treat Xyz... made no sense to me. you are proving we all deserve treatment regardless of age
Sleep, less stress, exercise, proper diet and nmn resveratrol is keeping Sinclair young. Try it
David is truly inspirational. I read his book and it was very inspirational too. One thing that usually stands out to me: if something is unknown (not yet been researched, etc), David will always tell it straight. This means that there is no silver bullet to treating aging, but multiple sides of the problem to address.
happy to see more of David and reverse-aging research
Rockstar of anti-aging.. One of em ;) respect to everyone who works on it, but this needs to be open source forever & public as it should be. And in that way stuff advances even faster.. More minds can help out.
HRT and DHEA etc for menopausal women is a huge longevity question and it would be great if it was addressed....seems quite important since it regards 50% of the population
Agreed. A thorny issue. I have chosen to take HRT and been on it for 20 years. I am ageing very well so far. My mother never slept through the night once she turned 52 until she died. Lack of deep sleep alone takes a huge toll on resilience.
For those of us that work in and around the HRT field proof is in the pudding so to speak. The big issue is how to deliver the hormones and how much hormone is proper for each person. But in general, HRT for peri and menopausal women can really improve quality of life no matter how many days they have remaining. I have seen women in their 80s benefit tremendously!!!!
I DO sincerely wish NUS/Brian are checking our comments - as the omission of women’s hormone levels, which Fall off a Cliff in mid-life is, frankly, malpractice of human scientific research.
W/grateful appreciation to Brian and David - truly wish that last/critical question had not been brushed aside .
Can someone help me find NUS’ discussions which DO include these “gender differences” - seems most need to include them.
How will mainstream med get on this train, if scientists like yourselves do not bring up within EACH presentation?
Thank you again. (Am 63 and losing it due to near zero positive hormones, other than cortisol, insulin, etc)
Good luck!
I love the fact that things are moving faster and faster! Here just 2 years ago saying we won't have it anytime soon and now we're 10-15 years away with the now trajectory of how things are done. and for me I don't know if I want to live super long or forever not really that interested in that but if I can have the current lifespan or live to 85-90 looking and feeling 25-30 (skin muscles mood libido everything at a young level) then I'd more than happy!
Prof Sinclair is really getting younger 😮 He looked different/older in Tom Bilyeu show two years ago 🤔Or is it some kind of screen-filter?…If not, the difference is amazing
I read his books about intermittent fasting..and resveratrol...I learn lot from him, and im very grateful ..... his studies are very interesting...
.. . My grandfather reach age 96 and he practised intermittent fasting...i do believe that healthy lifestyle can impact immune system and general health ...organic superfoods, exercise and positive mindset are great way how to live longer and more healthy....
Every person born before 1960 has practiced intermittent fasting most of their life because people wouldn't eat that much or would have periods of hunger. Every poor person currently in the third world country is practice intermittent fasting. Of them lives past the age of 60 so that's proof that that's really not working
@@levondarratt787 Dr. Sinclair specifies in his book that starvation and malnutrition are not the same as intermittent fasting and some calorie restriction, he does warn against malnutrition. But as regular humans it's not as easy for us to understand how to have optimal balance, so it doesn't go to extremes. :)
Not sure if David's theory will reverse or slow down aging but the supplement he recommends sure give energy to my aging years. Much better than not having the energy to get out and enjoy.

Great to see the progress at NUS, and also in David's lab. The reprogramming efforts are really interesting - but my concern is that it may be decades before it gets translated to the clinic, and will be expensive if it turns into a therapy. Perhaps Altos Labs can speed things up. I think the NUS efforts at identifying supplements and drugs that are most helpful in aging are the big win for the next 5 years - drugs like rapamycin.
I wish Dr David discuss several concerns on NMN and Resver been raised and discussed by other specialist in the field and published on RUclips so one can feel ok taking these supplements with confidence
Second this
What where those concerns ? Just genuinely asking, I was interested in Sinclair’s work but I didn’t try to check everything against yet

Seen people age 50-60, looking and acting like 30 years old. With perfect skin and wrinkle free. Doing 0 supplements, fasting, superfoods or any other so called health practises. They are just in tune with their body and live joyfully. Having good genetics helps alot also. Your own intuition can be your best tool. What to eat and when to eat. Most people are not in tune with their body's circadian rhythms, however.
Also seen people age 40 doing all kinds of supplements, fasting and exercise for decades. But they seem to have aged terribly. So untill we see 60 year olds looking and acting like 20. Nothing incredible special is going on. It's 2021 and I think we're just started to grasp the basic understanding how aging works. it's incredibly complex. In this timeline your best bet is probably living as naturally and in tune with nature as you can. Looking at the blue zones. The real paradigm shifts are probably still a few centuries away.
look back a few centuries and rethink your thinking

So what's something that people can take right now to help with aging? NAD+?
NMN increases NAD+ levels
@@danovic7822 Does it work, though? Or can you say much from personal experience? Thanks
@@Corteum David has been taking it for years. NMN passes the liver and actually goes into the bloodstream without hurting your organs appearently. NM has not been enough study to say if it is efficient. Then there is Niacin, which also goes into the bloodstream, but possible organ damage with higher dosage. NMN is safe to take up to 1,5g I believe and I think David is taking 1G daily.

I have to measure the anti-aging effect of a protein in human cell lines. I want to use epigenetics as a marker for aging, alongside senescent markers. Will the differences in methylation frequency of cells in particular parts of the cell cycle and senescence correlate to the reversal of the aging process after treatment.
Sinclair does look ridiculously young for someone who's 52 :D
A fascinating idea, 80 or 90 years is the most extended life for people. We hope just facing death in proper condition, healthy body, happy life, not a life for a much longer time. Intermittent fasting and taking astaxanthin is the way I'm doing it.
David continues to get slightly older looking each year. When he starts looking younger I'll know they have figured out something.

I bought Dr. Sinclair's book "Why We Age and Why We Don't Have To." It's so educative and phenomenal. Through him, I learned about NMN supplement particularly by Vitruvin Health 500mg, it's been a couple of months now as also recommended by a close friend. All I can say is that it’s cost-effective, overwhelming energy is felt, and promotes your overall health...I am looking forward to feel and see the same result in the following years…
Dr Sinclair has no empirical evidence to support his claims.
With the current rate of life span expectancy increase in 60 years from now the average lifespan will be between 93 and 99 years. Meaning that about half the 30 year old's of today will live to be over 100 years old. And that is not taking in to account things like the benefits of intermittent fasting, Gene therapy, NmN, bio-printing and so on.

What is NR ?

Everybody wants to remain as independent as possible in old age, no? Muscle mass decreases with advanced age resulting in weakness and balance/coordination issues. The ways to combat this decline is to work out and keep as much muscle on one’s frame as possible. Give NMN supplement a shot and see if it works for you coz what works for one person might not work for the next. In my opinion, I am satisfied of taking NMN by Vitruvin Nutrition along with my work outs, walking kms, and yoga...
I don't want a test on my mouse. I want a test on me.
