    I tip my hat to that man on the steel guitar. They never receive much recognition as musicians, but they set the WHOLE tone for these great classic country songs.

    WTB Time Machine
    To go back to this era. Life was good.
    Homes were cheap, a man could provide for a family on one income still (barely).
    The US was 85% huwite still and people were safe.
    Those of you born after 1990, you just can't even comprehend how awesome it was.

    • @BenjaminMilesPerry
      @BenjaminMilesPerry 8 месяцев назад

      Yeah cept for that ridiculous mention of 85% . Hell move to a county where the number is acceptable if your so obsessed. I seen MC at the Texas Club in Baton Rouge on a project And I got to tell ya, the 15% in the dance hall was all right by me. I suppose you hate Unions , never served, drive a Jap pickup, love Drumpft, and think your some kinda Faux and friend "patriot". Leave real Country out your bullshit. I don't even know why a Steel Guitar matters, but I have a Theory, I guess the New Country with Electric Guitars, seems like it Drowns out the Lyrics, I can't hear, as well at 54, 55 this month, but I know it isn't just me . I Hate New Country Music, Like I Hate Soccer ! New Country Music, is Like some Rap, and Hip-hop, with no real Country. I think Old Country was taken out on purpose, it is sort of like a Murder, like those Great Philosophers George Strait, and Alan Jackson once said. 🙏

    I'll always remember picking up my son from his mom's when he was 5 years old. This is one of my all time favorite country songs. It was playing when he got in the car. He's sitting in the back and when the chorus starts. My son begins to sing along. "It's too hot to fish. Too hot for golf and too cold at home" Always brings a smile to my face thinking about that moment. Glad he still listens to this music now that he's 17 and been living with me going on 7 years.

    On my 65th birthday and the first day of retirement, I met John Conlee in Hendersonville TN (Nov 2018). We were the only customers in the store. As I walked towards him I kept thinking "I know this man!" Getting closer we exchanged greetings as men our age do. I kept shopping and trying to place his face. Then it dawned on me, "John Conlee, saw him in concert Omaha in the 80's". As I turned the corner to get cat food there he was looking at me. "You know," I said, "you sure look like John Conlee". Well, he looked down, up, and then at me and smiled "That's because I am John Conlee". I'm not the crazy fan type. I told him how much I loved his music, and he said thank you and we shook hands. No autograph or selfie, and I think he appreciated that I recognized him and didn't want all the hoopla. That made my birthday and retirement so special. He's always been the gentleman. He lives in the area.

      Give me country from when country was actually country. The stuff that they call country now is laughable. Musical vomit.

    I used to eat Catfish with my Dad in that little place. That also was Mark's first music video. I miss my Dad and what he introduced me to.

    Spring of 90 I dated a girl named Penny for a short time. I remember taking her to a small bar in West Knoxville for a couple beers and this song was being played on the jukebox. Funny how songs can get locked in with certain memories. If not for songs so many of our memories would disappear. I'm 65 yo and have Parkinsons. I'm so thankful the songs are helping me to hang on.

    I've been capturing my Father's older country 45s, things I heard him play on the radio as a child and ran the other way from (after I'd somehow memorized lyrics - where the hell did That talent go). Now I'm getting into the groove of it and this does have the feel of a gentle, older country song, just shy of a whiskey in your hand. Good stuff - I'm working on Toby Keith right now, but I've added this to my special folder and will be looking for more Chesnutt materials shortly. Clint Black can just wait.
