Hey now, I'm a city girl but my grandparents who lived down the street from us were raised up country to the core. The marines brought my papa to the city. I got city smarts and a laid back country soul. I'm not laughing at anyone, but please don't group all "city" people alike. I know how sweet that life is. After church on Sunday's it was to grandmas house we went for a big ol Sunday dinner.
That's not true. I was born in NYC, but moved to the south when I was 11 years old. I had the good fortune lo live in a little town outside Baton Rouge for two years when I was in high school. That made a life-long southerner of me. I've lived in the south ever since, and now I'm 63 years old.
Marty, Jason, and Luke have completely blown this out of the water. I loved the original version but man this is awesome!! We need alot more of this!!! Great job guys!!!!
If this song doesn't resonate with your soul, you might not have one. Being from the Shoals(where this is being filmed) it resonates more than you can imagine.
I’ve listened to this song a thousand times and it makes me cry every time. I miss my father so much, if you still have your parents love them endlessly.
I am a Jesus follower born again Christian,my son is a Jesus preacher thank the lord after church on Sundays we have dinner at my home his mother, my wife of 43 years cook's and the grandchildren are here amen ain't the lord Jesus great
I'm sitting here crying because I miss all of my family that have went on to heaven Thank you fellows for this remake it's making me so 😢and glad that Jesus died for me.
My mama died a year ago....after a surgery to correct t her broken leg...she told me if I don't see you after surgery, I will see you in heaven, I love you.
Same here! I literally cried the first time I heard it, remembering going to my grandparents’ house every Sunday after church for a fish fry and to work the garden.
Martys voice always sounds like sitting on the porch at night, in the summer, just friends and family pickin and singing. Very few voices bring that to mind. Love it
Luke and Jason really need to make a Collaborative Remake Album of the 90s Country we grew up with. It would be amazing! I've seen Luke perform covers of Alabama, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Conway, Earl Thomas Conley and they are AMAZING!! Come On Jason, Luke... Take it Back Ole School
We raise way more cattle and make way more hay in the Midwest. Which is where you turn every time a "natural disaster" leaves your cattle starving to death.
This song takes me back to a time where things were simple to me. Wishing my dad, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and friends that left this world was still here.
It’s actually how it used to be North to South in rural America, not just the south. Our country needs to get back to the way it used to be and as of Nov 2024, we just might be headed back!
Amen to that. Our world is turned upside down and I'm afraid we'll never get back to 'the good ole days' . Way too much Hate in this world and here in America.
Absolutely love this version! Takes me back to a moment in life , when times was different & life was good. And family's valued traditions & family pulled together. If only life was still that way 😢
“For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16. Jesus died and resurrected so YOUR sins could be forgiven. He loves you so much He suffered and gave His life for you so you may believe in Him and have eternal life. Change your heart and turn to Jesus. “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’” John 14:6. Jesus is the answer to all things and the only way to have true peace and eternal life after this world.
New country itsn't terrible....There's a lot of it that's out here that's great,,,,You just don't like it... That's on you bud......But...."Don't hate...'Appreciate !
Try the original version, by Alabama, if you've never heard it. If you hear an old sounding country song, hunt down the original... It will always be worth it.

Im 55 now. Don’t know where the time went. You get busy working and raising kids, living life. Then you here this old song and think, was I that young once.
Wow! As a true Shenandoah fan who knows every lyric to every Shenandoah song, I have been dreading this release in fear that it would not do justice to the original. I am pleasantly surprised and pleased with this version.
I'd have paid for the privilege of watching this video being made and the 4 of y'all cutting up with one another. I've been a fan of Shenandoah, since this song was new. The whole album, with this song on it, was a great album. Then to get to see you hang out and do a remake, with 2 of my other favorite country artists would have been heaven! Just an old man babbling, as he reminisces on his youth, while this song plays...
Love this scene at 1:22 of the beautiful Colbert County Courthouse grounds and Confederate war Memorial in Tuscumbia, Alabama. It's a wonderful lil' town.
1:30 I was born in the 60's. Grew up in the South. Sunday's were for Church. Grandma's. Rest. No alcohol sales. No cell phones. No social media. No hate. Simpler, better, easier. I miss and cherish those day's. ♥
Luke I know does have his times when he’s feeling traditional. It’s like every now and then when we get to hear him make a Neo-traditional country song
This song brings back so many beautiful memories of my childhood. Growing up in a small town and neighbor helping neighbors. Slow Sunday’s at Grandmas everyone breaking bread together and long naps on the front porch swing. This is what my grandson will experience. We are bringing back that tradition!!
Marty, Jason, and Luke absolutely nailed this song, and this is the true sound of real country music! This heart-tugging video was filmed right here in the Shoals where I live. People may laugh at us and, though city life is certainly great for a quick respite, people who live in big cities "Up North" will never understand the meaning of Mama Nellie's banana pudding, church picnics, Decoration Day, small town barber shop Saturdays, Friday night football, or Mama's Texas potatoes and pecan pie during the Christmas season. We are truly blessed here in the South.
Great job of remaking an older classic without flubbing it up,the addition of Aldean and Luke compliment Marty Raybons vocals, keeping a great song great
This song just makes me feel so warm, cozy & back home living with my Mom & Dad. 2 brothers. Not a worry in the world. So content. Now Mom & Dad gone. Don’t talk to 1 brother. His call not mine. But still have the 1 special brother. ♥️♥️
I usually hate any type of remake to classic songs, but this is fantastic. Marty still sounds great, and the vocals by Luke and Jason stayed respectful to the song. Great job guys!

Both good ole southern boys themselves ❤

For a few of us, this song speaks to how we have lived our whole lives. Raisin' cattle, makin' hay, small towns in the South.
Facts
We raise way more cattle and make way more hay in the Midwest. Which is where you turn every time a "natural disaster" leaves your cattle starving to death.
Your "whole lives". You're all of what? 25? Maybe 30. In the Midwest we have cows older than you are.
