RIP Cadets. You guys changed the game. From West Side Story and We Are the Future to The Zone, to Between Angels and Demons. They should be talked about in the same vein as Star of Indiana and the Blue Devils for their innovation and power.
This is my go-to example for people who ask what drum corps is and can be. Simple concept that's incredibly hard to pull off, great show design, movement with music, and even if you don't know the music you still "get it." Just superb.
I would agree, this is actually the first drum corps show I ever watched. And I still remember being amazed by the drill, music and overall general effect of the show. Definitely started me down a rabbit hole I don't want to admit I went down XD
I was fortunate to see this gold medal-winning performance in person, as well as so many others over the past 35 years. The Cadets will be sorely missed.
Cadets 2000, Cadets 1995, PR 1996, PR 2003, PR 2010, SCV 2012 and many others give me goosebumps any time I listen...nothing from the new era of show design drives the same emotion.
Legend states that it was the instrument of an ex-member who left it out on the road where it got ran over. He was kicked off, replaced with an alt, and they decided to put it in as a prop.
@@dwaterson21 He put it behind a bus and it got run over. He stayed on through the end of the season. Definitely got chewed out for it though. Also a marching baritone in those days was at most $2.5k.
My all-time favorite modern DCI show. Amazing contrast between the uniforms, colorguard killed it, that pitchfork and wing formation was just 👌🏻, the other formations were amazing, great spacing, great concept, great clean music, and they totally deserved the win. By a landslide.
@@Illiterate243ArndtYouBenny they were saying their favorite - not what they felt was "best: -> besides "best" is probably 2005 Cadets, prior to half the show being amplified soloists (JMO) but yes BD 2017 was very good.
And to the other DCI members/owners/Directors/head honchos, make a note to stop sexual misconduct asap, or this happens, on top of the years of trauma that innocent people have to deal with for the rest of their lives. Seeing this show for first time…to funny about the baritone! In ‘92 a water cooler fell off the scaffolding onto a mello or euphonium. (Cadets) We had no way to re-purpose it in our show. But the DM scaffolding looks familiar! I’ll have to check old videos to see if it is…as far as the show: genius writing / choreography. As always - I give all credit to the guard, and I’m a horn player.
I really enjoyed the visuals in this performance and on top of that the music was awesome. I loved how they used hymns to match the theme. In the 90s I wanted to try out for a DCI Corp playing tuba. Wished I could have made that happen, but life happens. Instead I support DCI by watching in person when I can and watching these videos. Plus by supporting my son and his marching band.
all jokes aside, i was trying to look for this specific video uploaded by someone else but I saw it was removed for some reason. thank you for bringing this back I love this show :))
how is it my first time hearing this show? my marching band (728 cadets) had a musically similar opener in 2018. the season was "out of the box" - obviously nowhere near as complex. it was when our directors wrote the music. its also a 12-18 band
It's a real shame that The Cadets went from this to being completely folded and no longer in DCI. They truly left a legacy in DCI that many Corps may not live up to.
A large portion of my 2018 high school marching show transcendance was based off this show. Audio and everything. ruclips.net/video/tu2cZ2S8Nf0/видео.html
Don't worry. The horn was unusable to begin with. Legend has it that it was the horn of the guy he replaced, after the old guy left his horn on the road, where it got ran over.
I do not begrudge the trophy for the Cadets this particular year, and their visual execution is excellent as always. That said, I cannot remember when another winning show truly bored me as much as this one.
this show deserved the win based on how clean it was but honestly this is the only time where I say BD had a much better show as far as viewer enjoyment/general effect.
It mainly won off of how squeaky clean it was for such a difficult music book. And that drill was godlike. But yeah, it's one of those shows you gotta watch a couple times.
Two things Mr. Jack: You should have seen it live, and 2) you should come over to my house and listen to this show not through RUclips but Bluray Disc on my 9.4 Klipsch setup, LOUD. You might change your mind about boring. It's tremendous. 🤜🤛
Memorializing this video on this sad day. Loved seeing this organization every year
This was the show that introduced me to drum corps. FHNSAB.
Gonna miss them a lot.
I am as well 😢

Could be this or some 2000’s Cavaliers or late 2000’s early 2010’s Phantom for me.
Agree very much. Cavaliers' The Machine is just pure power and showmanship.@@yomama847
My go to used to be Phantom Regiment’s Spartacus

i can’t name another dci show that is able to make me this emotional every single time i watch it
This. Spartacus, Babylon, and Inferno do it for me.

Literally just discovered this baking style about three weeks ago. Am blown away by the presentation. Thank you for adding this recipe!!
lmfao I forgot we did this with marchi- cooking recipes🤓
The best show I've seen in person. Saddened to hear this corps is over.

I loved this section. The song is 160 bpm from the movie: Angels and Demons. Which is a very fitting title.
Man it’s nice seeing a show without props all over the field limiting the type of drill that can be done.
I agree. You just don't get shows like this anymore
the cadets opener for this show is our closer this year! angels in the architecture by frank tichelli, rest in peace cadets
Its like putting angel and devil food cake mashed into one. Devilishly good but heavenly satisfying. Love it
This cake is a masterpiece.
the dci judge dodging everything from 7:30-8:38 is killing me
love jeff prosperie. he should be the only judge allowed on the field. nobody else, just him
Never once in my life did I think this would be the last championship.
Amazing Doxology will for ever be the best ballad every composed for a drum corp
This is the very first dci show I ever watched. FHNSAB❤️💛
I thought this recipe only had lower quality ingredients, I've never seen it looking this sharp before! Excellent dish at 10:26

yeah i am scratching my head on that one ? what did i miss ? was that a rubber horn ?
I really hope to be in DCI someday. I love marching band so much and wish I could do it forever.
Come try out for Atlanta cv. It's an all age corps and it's a great environment. A lot cheaper than junior corps

1.cadet pie
2. Phantom cake
3. Blue deviled eggs
4. Carolina candy
