    Festools are just wonderful but Mr Gensmer is a wonderful artisan.The work he does is not just practical everyday work its art within peoples' home,how cool is that?I have been so lucky in hiring gentlemen like Mr Gensmer here in Lancashire England and they too are neat,methodical and so logical in their work.You can almost imagine how the great artists worked whilst admiring the work and working of these modern day artisans.
    Thanks Festool for allowing me just a glimpse of the wonderful work and working of wonderful artisans.

    It's important to remember, we have all witnessed guys who make a mess and also use a 20 year old saw or cheap 2.00 bucket from home depot to get his stuff on the site that do incredible work. Don't confuse wanting or having the best for giving your best effort and getting a beautiful result. The comments about Festool making a better craftsman hmmm not sure I agree wholeheartedly with that. So again words like artisan, craftsman and values like clean ,hard work ethic are not found magically inside a systainer.

    • @mucwaogima
      @mucwaogima 9 лет назад +3

      ***** here again I own over 4500 dollars worth of Festool tools, and things in which are described as values come from the individual and not what quality of tool one owns, and where efforts thrown into intense brand management and marketing may not make a direct claim that one can acquire these traits by owning the brand .....they certainly strongly suggest it. I enjoy owning my Festool tools, what I don't appreciate is marketing that implies I can make more money just by owning a particular brand of tool. My customers could care less if I wheel in black and green "cool tools" however they certainly appreciate values that I didn't pay for such as cleanliness, accuracy and efficiency that is what gives me "profitability".

    • @bjorker40
      @bjorker40 9 лет назад +1

      I agree with you 200%….but having good accurate and precise tools along with ruggedness that any of the many Festool products that I own offer, it does simplify the job a bit so as to produce a more quality project in a more organized manner.

    • @mucwaogima
      @mucwaogima 9 лет назад +4

      christschool Festool's job is to present a compelling message and reason to buy their product and they like to use personal testimony of what they make appear to be average guys/gals. Our job as consumers is to "keep it real" so us average people don't spend every last dollar on green and grey gold that in the end yes does help .....but is not at all necessary to be above average and certainly not necessary to "make a profit" .....where I come from people buy good work and people work with people and relationships that have a good fit.......not tools. We all have the potential to be great craftsman if not already.....and I for one won't give Festool credit for my hard work and effort .....( even if they help)

      I am finish carpenter and I don't own a single festool item for a simple reason-festool tools are absurdly over priced. their miter saw costs $1900 here in Canada. I have a bosch glider miter saw that cost $900 and it does wonders with its impressive accuracy.

    Great video! I, too, have a collection of festool products. I like the way you have your Sprinter van set up. It has always been my dream to have one, too. But I am mostly in the shop and others install the cabinets I build. I have found that the best way to fold up an MFT table is to lift one short-sided end with the other side's legs on the floor, then fold, then move to the other side and fold… without out lifting the table off the floor. This process will prevent back trouble. Thank you for sharing your festool ideas. Sincerely, James Lennox, Missoula, MT

    Festool gives my business the ability to do amazing things. A kitchen designer can give a customer an incredible design . They look to us to build and install it. The right tools for the application is what makes us stand apart from our competitors. The domino has changed some ways for fastening. That's an amazing tool! We promote the use of this brand everyday.

      +J1SMOKES You know most jobs can be done fast and neat don't you? That's when you start making money. Sounds like you need to go contracting for yourself, then you will see your speed pick up markedly.

      +J1SMOKES I agree with you. Im a plasterer by trade but I have festool systainers and sustainers to carry my tools. I also have festool tools to make my cabinet making. I tell clients the contractors can get more volume done in a day than me and appear to do good work but they can do that by using less material in the quantities.
      The festool machinery is built with precision and a very fine tolerance. It is true I make less money than a lot of other contractors but I just like doing good work well done and also you get to enjoy your work and take pride in your finish. Good on you

      +Festool USA I have a healthy collection of festool tool boxes and recently bought one of the new lines of systainers. As Im a plasterer by trade, times of been quite I have been able to take on maintenance jobs where my festool tools have come in use. Making me more vestatile and very professional. My brother who is a carpenter was quite pleased when I brought my plunge saw and guide rail to trim doors after new carpet had been laid in a dwelling. You scribe the door, set the guide rail on the pencil and one pass it is done. Im starting to go cordless in the festool range. Also I got out of trouble when the paper on the gyprock had been breached meaning the paper joint was furry. I got out 400 paper with the festool sander and vacuum and it smoothed out. Good stuff.

    After I retired a couple of years ago I wanted to start working with wood again. I had given it up years ago due to extremely high work travel and family responsibilities. Over the years I have developed a litany of joint issues to numerous to mention. I wanted, needed, tools that don't hurt my body. A Festool sander, 150/5, was the first tool I bought and to quote another poster, it changed my sanding life. Unbelievable dust collection and easy on my arthritic body. I have a couple of tools now and I will buy more as budget allows. I really need an MFT for my next project and hope to have one by summer.

    Brilliant video.
    Festool make fantastic tools in a genius system that's very precise, very versatile, portable, with brilliant organisation, a comprehensive range of accessories and the best dust extraction. For a small workshop or on-site tradesman Festool is the best there is. It has made my work so much easier, quicker, accurate, cleaner etc. and has made me a much more confident tradesman. What price can you put on that? Of course Festool is going to seem expensive, but in my view it's thoroughly worth every penny.

    When I started my at apprenticeship at woodworking about 30 years ago, we did not have Festool products, or any power tools for that matter, sawing wood was done by hand, Yankee Pump Action screw drivers were the "holy grail" of tools, and hand tools were bought weekly on a need only basis. when I could afford them. I was trained to sharpen chisels on an oil stone with some elbow grease and good old sweat....now I own, lots of hand tools, and to be honest, I get as much satisfaction from the effort as I do from the end results...

    I wish they pull back the pricing about 40%. in the long run they would make more money cause those of us who can't afford a $1500 chop saw or a $1000 palm sander would be able to give them a try.
    My dewalt 12" slidding miter saw is boss minus the ridiculous dust collection bag 45' off the back of the saw lol. I have to pull the bench it's on at least 2' off the wall so I can use it. lol but she's mine and I still love her.

Iv'e worked alongside guys like this doing muti unit apartments, buy the time he had all his stuff upstairs I had got through 50 meters of trim. I agree you need all the tools for the jobs to work efficiently but some extra things just slow you down.

    • @Toolaholic
      @Toolaholic 8 лет назад +5

      +Tristan Patterson its easy to be fast when you dont have to set up, but id prefer working as dust free or with as little dust as possible and burn the 20 minutes. A lifetime of dust will really cripple you in the long run. MDF especially is terrible stuff. I understand that renovations are dusty in general, but the idea is to reduce as much dust as possible. As for setting up, once you have a system going it doesnt take that long, and it makes everything go much smoother. You might get a head start but the guy who is set up to work efficiently is working safer, cleaner, and more precise on a stable platform

    I use to work for anal retentive neurotic rich ladies in the bay area and Malibu. They were more interested in me keeping their house clean than the actual work. 😂

    It's the system, you can't compare tool to tool to see it's complete value. Like buying the mft alone, of course it's not worth 600 bones, its a freaking card table. However with the tracksaw, clamps etc it does what no other portable bench on the market does. The system, with dust control that other tool companies do, or care to. I think it's for ocd people who make pretty good money in woodworking. That being said I really want the mft, since I can't fit anything in my garage and it will fold out of the way.

      Some tools are smart designed, but most of them are not any special. Just some examples, that Bosch is equally good: jig saw, track saw, mitre saw and so on. Dewalt table saw I think is better than Festool. The fence on festool table saw is not stable and moving, compared to Dewalt. Festool vacuum are smart, so are the mitre saw, and the MFT-table (which you just can make easy at home).

    So being from MN where this guy is from. Everyone is bashing the price of the tool, but around here ppl don't blink an eye at $9k-14k snowmobiles which u can only ride 3-4 months out the year. Spend $4k-5k on tools and everyone goes crazy. Hobby or professional everything is expensive; photography, cars, RV, fishing, atv, snowmobiles, etc. So bashing it you are either A) jealous ("oh no I'm not" liar) or B) don't need need to bash other ppl hobby or profession. I think it's retarded to go buy a $70k vehicle, but I'm not gonna bash someone who does.

      Nope the tool does not make a carpenter, a fine tool can make a work day more satisfying though.

    I’m all for festool and own 6 of there tools and a dust extractor but god damn it there power cords are already proprietary why the hell do they need to change them every year. Small things like this is why I will not buy anymore.

    Just about all the major tool makers have pretty equivalent products in every category, and pretty much all of them are cheaper than Festool. They also have introduced their own 1 system organization. Festool might have been revolutionary once, but even the patent on the Domino runs out soon. I have some very nice DeWalt boxes that stack, lock together, and cost no more than 1/3 a Systainer price. But, yeah, they're not as pretty.
    I guess I'm too old, but I just see a lot of money tied up in this kid's van and storage space, and wonder what happens when he gets sick, or the next downturn comes, like they always do in home refurbishing. He may think they're an asset, but they sure look like an expense to me. True assets appreciate in price, Festools don't. Search for Festool on Craigslist for details.

      No, you are wrong. When you you see how customers freaking out from Festool storage system, you would never post such a comment.
      I believe Festool telling us the truth. If you work hard you can make and afford it and probably he got all of it over years. Festool is the best tools and storage system.

      Please don't take this the wrong way but, price...that is the only complaint you ever hear about festool. Isn't price one of the main problems in our purchasing decisions? Ever bought something that turned out to be total junk, broke, or just didn't produce quality results? Usually you bought it because of price. (low price). I am 43 years old and have bought plenty of "cheap" tools. One day I got so frustrated with my results I went out and spent 3000.00 on festool stuff. I feel it is the best money I have ever spent. It is a system approach where every tools works as a system. After a while you forget the money and just enjoy the results.
      Don't even get me started on the sanders. The dust extraction while sanding will change your life.

    Festol is good! Why the hate? Is it this guy who is full of optimistic and brand loving guy like some people have Apple iPhone? Well in my opinion iPhone is good brand. Do I have it? No I have samsung but do I have money? Well I have one euro at the moment. Still I'm not jealous.. we have festool in school and my previous school had festool milling machine. To be honest I don't even know who are the competitors of Festool when it comes to milling.. maybe Swedish people have some companies but I've never tried those. My teacher said that don't buy some cheap crap from a Swedish shop (company that name I dont want to say here in public to give bad light, because many consumers buy the cheap stuff) I just say one more time that Festol is good quality and I don't like these comments here full of hate ;(

    Look, everyone who is complaining about the price obviously doesn’t own any festool products. They are worth every penny. I am a small business owner and I never hesitate to buy festool. They last, they stand behind their products and they just plain work. So don’t bitch because you choose to use cheap tools.

      The problem with your statement is there are several tool companies out there that make an equally quality tool as Festool for a fraction of the price! Your assumption that by simply overpaying for Festool products you will always get the best tool is simply not true!

    Great video, but you have to think for a second, all that fancy tools to trim out a shithole house. A hand miter box, hammer and nails could be used to trim out that simple house. I would expect a nicer house to be used for a video like this.
