    I have 4 Festool tracks, and I never have a problem just placing the track on a surface and counting on the slip resistant strips on the bottom of the tracks. Just a little FYI. I use it that way constantly. I do a lot of hardwood floor repairs that require clean straight cuts that are in the middle of floors with nothing to clamp to. Also, their new vacs have built in bluetooth controls so your cordless tools can actuate the vac the same as the corded ones do, and if you have an older vac (That looks like an older model 36AC) they sell retro kits to add the blue tooth switch to the vac. Double also, the gauge for the depth setting on the saw measures depth both with and without the track. the portion that sticks out all the way across the gauge measures your depth without the track, the portion the sticks up above where it says "FS" measures your depth with the track. So once you have that depth dialed in (it's adjustable) you never have to measure it manually as you did.
    I often find that on an extension cord the power drop off sucks from a 15amp circuit. I trim new homes as my bread and butter so I invested in a box that I got off amazon that plugs into a 30amp washer dryer outlet, which converts into (2) 20amp breakers. I find that with the 20amp line, I don't lose power over a long extension cord. I'll add link to it in Amazon

    I want to thank you for your amazing drywall videos as they were priceless in my kitchen remodel as I tore out a wall and had to replace some areas with drywall. I can honestly say it turned out great because of the knowledge that you shared. Your videos are entertaining and informational and I find myself addicted to watching your content and learning along the way. Thanks again!

    Festool sent you that! Good Job being on the radar! Absolutely love track saws, 90% replaced my table saw. I have a Makita setup. That handle fitting through the trak is neat. Festool goes so far above and beyond to have extra QofL features. I've screwed my track on to a old wall that had multiple door heights and made the openings all identical. It's awesome how creative you can get with the use of the track, so quick to setup, and so nice knowing it's perfect straight. Us so impressed at you skills on a skateboard! Hi, new home owner here, trying to DIY some stuff, love your channel. I'm planning a project, but there's one part of it that I'm not sure how to tackle, and would sure appreciate your opinion on the matter.
    I have a living room wall that I want to cover up with a built-in bookshelf from one end to the other, up to the ceiling.
    My problem is that the right edge of the wall is an outside corner leading into a corridor, and I would like the right panel of the bookshelf to look like the continuity of the corridor wall, so that the bookshelf really looks like it's recessed in the wall.
    At first I was planning to build the whole thing out of drywall, but soon realized that all those outside and inside corners would be the death of me, so I decided to build the whole thing out of plywood. My vertical panels will be 2 x 3/4" plywood sheets fixed back to back with the sides flattened with wood filler, all painted in white to have nice 1 1/2" thick clean boards.
    I was planning to make the end board (right side of the bookshelf) with 2 x 1/2" plywood boards and a 1/2" thick drywall panel fixed back-to-back, with the drywall side continuing the existing wall, taping the joint and mudding the whole drywall board to make a nice clean job. But I do not know how to finish up the front of the board, which will be both plywood and drywall edges, so that it won't crack on the long run.
    So, what would be your solution to that problem? Appreciate any tips you could give me.
    Thanks.

    @2:07, OK, that's pretty ingenious. And @2:08, when I was buying festool tracks for my dewalt tracksaw (festool tracks have more accessories) the Woodcraft guy told me never to but the two ends together. He had more confidence in the track alignment bars. And that the ends get banged around more. Made sense to me. And @5:20 I would have thought you could wash it out and reuse it? They shoulda included a Velcro tie for the power cord to go w/ vacuum hose to keep out of way when cutting, also allows for movement “slack”. If didn’t get one, just get some Velcro cable ties and put on power cord and the wrap around hose to secure and allow for movement, than can undo from hose and Leave tie on power cord, etc….
    Nice saw though and nice footwork on the board. What wheels rocking, btw?

    I've always thought the only drawback to the Festool track saw setup was, aside from the blade, there is a lack of consumables. Seems like they finally fixed that problem! Hopefully they will come out with a one time use battery for their cordless version, or at least the ability to run it off 12 D cell batteries.

    Oh man. You need the bluetooth module for the vac. Number 1 - you get a remote (I think - or else get the remove separately, definitely) - that way you never have to walk to turn it on. You just put it on the business end of the hose and then you can turn it on from the hose. BUT ALSO - it syncs to the batteries on the cordless tracksaw and you get the same turn the vac on automagically action. Oh man. More edits. The depth gage has two indicators - one for with the track and one without. Make sure you're reading the correct one and you won't have to guess.

And of course the whole Bluetooth battery sync (that's what syncs to it really, not the cordless tool itself but the batteries)...

Ok so now when I sand the new mud it has a different texture than the old mud and it seems harder and more dense than the other mud I mixed. I finally said F it and just remudded the entire wall and I sanded it down and then once again i muat not have did an even coat on everything because there was a spot that didnt sand like the other now it was more soft. Idk what to do. I tried sponging it with a wet sponge but that doesnt work. I tried very lightly sanding to get this hard coat of mud to be even with the softer coat but it just chips off it doesnt even really sand unless i apply a shit tin of pressure and it was mixed just fine. May totally be true but I recall when doing my research for a track saw, the large festool track saw had the most power out of all the saws and the second was the smaller festool. I went with Makita due to good quality and not breaking the bank like festool. That said I'm an electrician and it has to be a pretty long run for voltage drop to be an issue or shitty 16 gauge extension cords.

    • @Matt-my7pz
      @Matt-my7pz 2 года назад

      @@Stevesbe cool! Yeah first hand experience is undeniable. Kinda happier I have Makita that you say that. That said I find corded tools to last forever even though I'm all about cordless and would love a cordless version of a track saw. BUT 2 years after buying my track saw locked up and I brought it to a local for repair, such a bad experience, the buggar trashed the shoe with sand and oil embedded in it. I literally had to file some areas where the aluminum was roughed up through the coating. So made, I said "It sucked (no knowing the extent of mishandling at a repair shop!) that I had to pay for it after the warranty just ended", then peckerhead said "it cost me a bunch trying to figure out the problem". He didn't even know what a track saw was apparently. I was so pissed off at the time. Years later anyway the saw seems to be working. Although the motor has always sounded laboured a bit.
