PBS Newshour and NPR are among the best news programs to watch and listen to. Because they rely on public funds they don't produce bias information on politics, they're not owned by a corporation and they only give you the news and not advertisements. I love NPR and the PBS Newshour and will continue to support them
That's why we're lucky in each european country to have a strong public media sector. In France for example : 6 national TV channels, 7 national radio stations, 5 international TV channels, 2 international radio stations. And that's the same in Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy... In France, ad breaks are forbidden by the TV regulation administration during newscasts. And there's a maximum of 6 minutes of ads on private TV, 4 or 5 i think on public TV and ads are banned on all public TV stations from 8 pm and during all the prime time slot, and on all radio stations throughout the day. In the US, when i see a 30 minutes newscast being in reality roughly 20 minutes due to ad breaks...and there are 20 minutes of ads each hour! That's mad! I don't no how you can normally watch TV without being upset and shoot on your TV set!
I love the current theme, (as of 7/20/22), but I'll always adore this one, as well. Each of the themes for News Hour are unmistakable and very thoughtfully conceived and composed, (is it me , or do I sense something of a New England ambiance to expressed by the composer/s (lack of an appropriate term) to the approach?)
I like this music way better than the new theme music. Maybe because they used it for years. The new music has taken some getting used to and now it sounds alright.
oh my god! thanks for the upload. My girlfriend hates the new theme. I'm going to play this for her. She's gonna love it, and shove it, and dance all up above it!!! THANKS THUMB WAY THE FKC UP!!!

I love ABC, NBC, and CBS. They don't give bias either.
However...
Why are there *so many commercials?*
@@albertjackinson *Never mind the commercials, what about the nearly 2 minute preview during the beginning of the news broadcast timeslot?*
@@RickyPaquiot284 Are you referring to the headlines, or the commercials before the headlines?
@@albertjackinson the one before the news intro.
The Newshour will always reign supreme, along with Frontline, Greater Boston, and Beat the Press.
I love you so much Gwen Ifill and I will miss you and you will be missed.
Thank you so much. I love this theme so darn much.
So beautiful. I miss the old theme so much.

I miss this theme so much. I'm so sad they changed it.
Thank you for sharing this theme, I miss Jim Lehrer, but Judy is doing a great job also
When Judy Woodruff retires at the end of the year, Jeffrey Brown will be the last remnant of the old newshour.
I agree. One of the last of the real journalists in age where it's been taken over by political bias.
this is my favorite theme song for pbs newshour
Brody Collins Same here! :)
i REALLY want them to put this theme back
I like the current theme better myself.
Good god, I forgot that this comment even existed.
My favorite is the 1983 and 1999 themes.
I'm looking for the new theme. Edgy, bold and beautiful. I'd love to hear the entire piece, if there is such a thing.

I think this theme and the current theme are both fantastic! Both fit the show well, I think.
Music by Edd Kalehoff PBS News Hour Theme
the macneil/leher news report theme is the best!
2006 to 2009
2006 to 2015 actually
the original is the best. I recorded the same and I used to listen it many times

2006-present
I'm very sorry that PBS lost Jim Lehrer and Gwen Ifill.
Can you do the instrumental version for the funding.
Yes!
Does anyone have the 1999 theme of the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer?
It was deleted…
