A very interesting method and an instructive video. Nice to see spring (autumn here and the first frost 'joint stiffeners' are on the way. Keep well and have a good summer.
As alternative industrial solid paint markers, Sakura brand is sold a fishing line markers or in Europe there are liquid fishing line markers similar to nail polish made by some German companies. I just used something similar on a river fishing for big barbel since they do not act kindly to braid on line clips 😂. Great vid Den ! Speedy and total recovery for your wife !
Thanks Clive. She is progressing steadily, but unfortunately the first hip replacement operation broke her Femur bone which necessitated a trip to the Emergency Dept and another, larger operation to replace the first prosthetic. It will probably be a few months until she is fully recovered.
Hi Den. Great little Tip. The only time i think you do need a line Clip is when you are fishing to a Mud bank or a set of reeds?Rushes as accuracy is requirement. Any where else is open to idea's like yours. Nice one. Cheers. PS. Are you anywhere near Sydney?
I get asked this question quite a lot. It would make for a great video if I had to 'run for it' due to Crocs mate. Luckily, I live in New South Wales, so the nearest Crocs to me are over 1000kms away. We do have to watch out for snakes and the odd Bull Shark in the rivers though!😁😁👍👍
I do still use them Gerald, but a lot of my fishing these days is done with heavier duty reels like the 5000 size Matrix Horizons and the new Nytro Aryzon. Having said that, you are correct in your assumption that I also use other methods to avoid clipping up.
I think using the Clutch/Drag setting is a much safer way as it lets the fish take line under some pressure, a bit like a bait runner. Your system i dont think would work for us Matchmen as you would lose to many fish.
Only accurate way to cast accurately is with a line clip. Marker pens are designed to find the same distance after unclipping without using measuring sticks
That's absolutely right, but for those situations where the fish go tearing off in open water, some anglers worry that they can't get the clip released in time, so using this method reduces the stress of the situation. I've covered a number of different ways to get accuracy, including the use of the line clip, the MAP ACS Clip system, the rubber band on the spool and a piece of thin pole elastic tied to the line. Some anglers prefer one way and others like a different way, but a lot of anglers worry about being clipped up and losing fish, or even their rods.
What a load of bollocks, you have a line clip for a reason so use it, cast to your spot lift your your rod vertical before you hit the clip ,and you can get at least two turns on your reel without moving your feeder, and your not fishing off your clip
I would rather use that method over a line clip. The way I look at it is they are feeding then you have a chance where it lands is not the issue? ( unless it is up a tree ;) ) So many match anglers seem to profess?
@@FishingwithDen I have got a lot better than my early days of fishing but a mate of mine does every time we go fishing. So I have printed off a number of feeders for him for our next outing. Mind we seem to find the lakes with plenty of trees around them?

Thats why i love the cage feeder or pva bag, you don’t have to be so accurate as you do with a method feeder.
Well done Den !👍🐟🐟👋
Thanks Danny.😁😁👍👍
Nice precise video again Den... glad you’re back out on the water again and good to see a few fish at this time of year... ATB to the boss too 👍

Thanks Peter. These days I live near Newcastle in new South Wales. It's about 2.5 hours to Central Sydney.
Hi den. Can I ask if you have to watch out for crocodiles when you are fishing in your waters enjoy the kids.

You don't seem to use Map reel these days . Is it because of your great ways of fishing with a clip or marking the line ?

@@FishingwithDenI’ve lost many fish through not unclipping in time. I’ll definitely give this a go. Thanks Den.
