Simple Feeder Rig Setup with Reusable Twissled Boom

- Simple Feeder Rig Setup with Reusable Twissled Boom. Some time ago, I did a video covering how to set up a feeder rig using a twissled boom. The whole thing was set up on the bank and it worked very well, but it took longer to set up than I wanted. Since then I have been looking at ways to make the rig simpler and quicker to set up, so I came up with the variation shown in this video.
The new feeder rig incorporates the use of a Pre-Tied Twissled Boom which has the added benefit of being tied in the warmth of your own home instead of trying to tie it with freezing cold hands on the bank. It also means that the twissled boom can be re-used time after time.

Thanks Den
Brilliant, has helped me no end
Tied a few for my bream fishing as I’ve tried others and failed
Cheers
Tim
Nice tip, you're right about the cold, I try to tie everything I might need at home ahead of time.both of my hands stiffen up really good.
going to be tying a couple of these bank side tomorrow ty den
Going fishing next Friday, thought I’d try a different rig. Used a feeder years ago now for an upgrade that I can make on the dining room table. First class, Thanks
Top tips Den especially pulling the twizzled section apart and rewinding, thanks
I'm now making some of these to use tomorrow on my local canal and hope to snaffle some lovely chub. Thanks Den
Brilliant. Thanks for that Den - a great idea. Like you I have arthritis in my left hand and my right hand doesn't add much to my overall dexterity following a stroke so this tip is perfect and gives me an excuse for making more tackle at my desk.
Thanks William. I'm glad it helped.
Yep, going to use this set up, like it. Simplicity is king. Arthritis in hands the plague of dexterity. I take 1 capsule daily of turmeric & rub olive oil into the affected joints its not a cure, but it really helps to keep things supple.
Thanks Smiffy. Arthritis is a real pain mate.
@@FishingwithDen yes, it's been a challenge, especially with my knee. Getting old is so much fun eh?
Clear as mud.😂
I do exactly the same. But I use a Drennan swivel stop bead in medium size. This is then a neat set up, that protects both the swivel, and the 4 turn half blood knot, and kicks out the twizzled boom. I keep my pre tied booms on a thin strip of soft wood held in place with hook length spool pins, at the loop, on the end of the twizzled boom, and the pertruding end of the Drennan swivel, (where the boom is tied to) By so doing, this keeps the pre tied booms lovely and straight, and illiminates the risk of any tangles. The booms are 6 inches long made out of 8lb mono, and the hook length loop, or attached quick change swivel hangs below the feeder. Perfect tangle free free running set up, showing up the shyist of bites.
Happy new year, another great video. Thanks
Thanks Anthony. You too.
I've been tying swizzled boons on the bank (with some degree of faffing about!!) and never thought of pre-tying them. Definitly going to give this a go. Cheers Den great idea!
Thanks Paul. Just make sure you get the knot on the twissled bit really closed up tight, otherwise it can come apart.
Thanks for the idea. I did this and it works great, much easier to do at home
Nice and useful demo, thanks
Great information I'm on this now , briiant idea.
Thank you, take care .
Great tip Den. 👍
Many thanks James.
Really brilliant idea den reusable twizzled loops many thanks
Thanks Thomas. I'm glad you liked the idea.
Thanks Den. Great advice on twizzling the line then releasing before twizzling again to get tighter twizzles. I’m going to try this Thanks again, all advice very welcome Tight lines 🎣
No worries Peter. I'm glad my video was helpful.😃👍
Interesting video
Hi Den I’d love to see a video on how you tie your reusable twinkle booms, I know how a standard twizzle boom but I have severe arthritis in my hands and would love to be able to tie these in the comfort of my home. Great videos by the way.
Thanks Andrew. I show you how to make them up starting at around 4:34 in this video.
@@FishingwithDen hi Den yes I realised after watching the video until the end that the how to part was there all along. I’ll put it down to my being nearly asleep when watching😂. I’m only starting to have a go at fishing again after a ten year gap due to health reasons and really enjoy watching your videos, being a lad from the Cambridgeshire fens and being brought up on Bream, Tench and Pike fishing find your explanations of things really easy to follow. Keep up the good work👍👍👍
Den, your articles are a great help to me. I am however struggling to twissle anything longer than about 3 inches no matter how many times i twissle; what's knack?
I am the same with the cold, fingers do not not want to play at all. I even try and make any hook length or hair at home even in the summer as I have a bench and light and no wind
Exactly mate. Have a good 2021.
@@FishingwithDen You keep up the good work and tight lines
I'm wondering if I could use an American snap swivel on the main line to attach the boom onto for quickness? Or would that make it to slack!
I'm not sure what you mean Paul, but if it makes things easier, give it a try mate.
@@FishingwithDen sorry den, its okay I've given it more thought and it won't work. I've made my twizzled booms up now to try them out. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
@@FishingMadDad Just make sure the tucked half blood knot which secures them is properly pulled down and tight. I made that mistake in the early stages and had a couple of malfunctions.
@@FishingwithDen hopefully I have. Thanks Den
@@FishingwithDen Well Den I never caught a chub but did land a lovely 3lb bream. Your twizzled boom worked a treat. 👍🏻
How you tied the twizzeled boom?
It shows you how I tie the twissled boom at 4.35 in this video.
Ignore my comment below, sorted!
How do I do it with a braid ?
Hi Marcin. Use a monofilament shock leader of around 7 to 8 metres.
@@FishingwithDen just tie 8m of it to braid ? I use 0.10 braid. Can I use guru anti tangle links ? I'm very new to feeder fishing and I'm not good at making knots
@@MartinTeerly Here's a link to a video which shows you how to connect the monofilament to braid Marcin. Start viewing at 7:40 Once you have the monofilament connected, just do everything else as normal.
@@FishingwithDen hi. I sorry to bother you but how often do you rebuild your rig ? I caught about 8 big tench with quiet good fights and I can see that monolit line starts to twist on its own
@@MartinTeerly I assume you mean the mainline is twisting Marcin, not the twissled boom. Personally, I don't change mine until I can either see or feel that the line has been damaged. As a best practice however, It's probably a good idea to rebuild the rig at the start of the next session.
Haw r you
I'm fine, thanks for asking.
