I saw this tie on another video, searched for an hour to find it again, and finally got here. This knot will be most useful for me. It looks like a pain, but after trying other knots, it will be easier. The mouth comes in handy. I appreciate that you took the time to make this video. Thank you.
Hi John , I have to say that I really find your videos on fishing knots very interesting. Many years ago I served as a fireman ( not to be confused with a 'firefighter) we had to be able to tie all kinds of knots, many of which yo u have described in your videos.
I have used these rigs for 40 years .Great for beach casting when whiting are about find this rig very successful tipped with a piece of mackerel. No tangle when casting.
Tonight I tried doing this and after about 5 rewinds on the video I managed to do one,,, 5 rigs later I managed to put 4 loops in one trace :) going to try it out this Saturday even if I do just pick up whiting on them ! Cheers John !
Hi John, I know I keep posting this, but thanks once again for a really good instructional video. I don't know why, but I've been backing off from knots etc but once explained properly they are making rig making so much easier. I will be using this method of making rigs a lot more now, I've just knocked a simple two hook rig using your video. Hope you and the family are well.
I'm glad I saw this. I added it to my saved videos. Where I'm from, we use (buy) this type of leader for targeting Pan fish (crappies, blue gills, flat & lightweight fish.) They are called crappie rigs. It bugged me that I didn't know how to tie my own. But your second example, is very much like what we call a crappie rig.
Cheers, easy to follow, tried n tested still a bit early on the west coast Scotland but got a bull Huss with the twisted set up, I have tried most of these rigs one up one down etc, you have saved me a fortune on rigs, thanks again, the way you done the one up one down rig is great for shore casting, 0 tangles so far, take care ;)
Once again, an outstanding video, you just could not improve on the presentation, explanation, demonstration, and end result, thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to post. Subscribed!
I have learnt so much from you in so little time, totally appreciated. Wishing yourself and your family a lovely Christmas and all the very best for 2021
Hi John, I expect you know ,that if you pull the line either side of the twisted loop a few times the twists get even tighter and stiffer ,making a really great stand out snood.
hi John, yes I was taught how to tie them many years ago , the loops get tighter and tighter the more you pull and release the to ends of line, it can be almost as stiff as wire, any way good hunting when this is over I am in south wales, and its going to be a long wait.
Hi John, thank you for every video you do, I'm learning so much. I struggle when trying to attach the hooks when making the Blood Loop and Twisted Blood loop? I have arthritis and my hands suffer greatly, so what I do when I'm trying to push the line through the hook eye, I take a thinner piece of nylon, push it through the loop, then pinch the two ends of the lighter nylon, push that through the hook eye and pull it through, this saves cutting the loop, therefore keep the knot strength as is and might be a help to anyone with limited dexterity. Another thought, after drawing the line back to the hook eye, might it be worth adding a short piece of coloured tube over the eye? 1, as an added attractant, 2, keeps the loop tight to the eye? Just a thought. Cheers. Alan.
hi John been fishing for freshwater fish for over 60 years and have had a few trips last year tope fishing, one of the best things is all the new skills to master, and the fishlock has supplyed all ive needed so many thanks for that. there was one thing i wanted to know was 0n your quick change hook rig you have your line exit from the back of the eye ,as a match and carp angler i always made sure my line came out the inside of the hook, maybe its differant for seafish. just wondered ,keep up with the work shops.Regard frank
Nice one John, super informative. I was told by my local tackle shop to learn this knot for huss and doggies. I was told to ledger it, how do I manage to get bait off the bottom with this method..
Great video but never goes !!! that great for me. Doesnt help drinking Stella for hours watching and trying to do it then ending up being the fish. Great video added it to save to watch later ::-) drunk as a skunk.
Great video Do rhe fish see the double line ?? Or does it depend on which species you are fishing ??? Say you werw tarfeting bass on a 15lb leader would they see it easier???
Sorry to trouble you John , Iv watched tons of your videos as I’m a fishing nut time permitting. I’m considering starting a RUclips page around what we do which is breeding falcons with maybe the odd day fishing , pointer dog training , grouse hawking etc . Could I ask for a couple pointers , cameras etc . Cheers Jeff Armstrong Border Falcons Ltd
A healthy,Happy New year to you and your brill family, Love the vids :) P.S. Do you have any tips for actually getting the line to spin,I found I just couldn't spin the line,no friction to grip it it and spin it. Roughen my finger tips with sand paper? lol (serious!) Covid lockdowns have turned my finger tips to baby skin! :(
Hi John , hope your well mate ? I'm so use to using single hook set up's as been mainly coarse fishing when I lived in the uk . And that's carried thru into sea fishing here in Oz . I'm thinking about tying some of these rig's but was wondering what length of line you would start with to tie a 2 hook rig ?. Thanxs in advance Andrew
Hi Andrew mate, Sorry I'm not john, but like you I was thinking the same question. What I myself did was take a longer piece of line or leader than I thought I would, make the rig and then you can always trip it down at the ends.
at 6.11 you say, you take this piece,, but you have more than one piece in your right hand, so confusing here as I cannot see if you are using the loop of a strand..
IDK if you're calling them what you want (many of the twats here in the US are) but here they're called Dropper Loop and Twisted Dropper Loop. Also when adding the hook that's called a cow hitch knot.
that’s absolutely brilliant, thanks for the tips man 🎉

Im not bad at knots, fishing for 40 odd years, but this knot i always struggled with, not now. Thanks John, clear, easy tutorial,it worked for me
Hey! Huge thanks from the US. Fishing in Florida now. That Twisted Boom is going to save me money, time, line tangles! Great!

Cheers been wondering about this knot for 30 years - looked it up today and managed to tie it after a few goes 😀
Hi John. Really simple and easy to remember. You're a star! Cheers for all the great tips!
every day is a school day great demo cheers for the link guess what im going to be doing lol thanks again
Thank You That blood knot did great out surf fishing last summer.😁

John another nice tutorial Thanks man 🙌😎

Good learning for me on that loop thanks tight lines till the next one
brilliant vid, ive just tied my twisted booms up ready for tomorrow. you made it easy for me mate, thank you
Great vid.
Just mastered these knots, in America they are called dropper loop knots. I use them for Catfishing and Bullhead fishing.
Excellent!!
I have learnt so much from you in so little time, totally appreciated. Wishing yourself and your family a lovely Christmas and all the very best for 2021
Great for diy feathers. Though with lighter line!
You make it look so simple. 😂
Just love this vid thank you 😁👍
a lot easier to do john after watching you

- Yes Allen, the is the point of the twisted boom blood loop I show in the video. Great aren't they. :)

Really helpful video John. Could you make slightly smaller loops and then use them to hang off some snoods? E.g. for a flounder rig?
Great video
Do rhe fish see the double line ?? Or does it depend on which species you are fishing ??? Say you werw tarfeting bass on a 15lb leader would they see it easier???
cant get this at all!! please do another vid mate

watched this video a number of times now and still struggle with the knot

⭐👍👏
Which part it weak..to the hook? I tie a palomar to hook off these. Very strong and stand better / strighter. Harder to get back off tho...
Hi there fella, with this knot, is it possible to cut the blood loop near the knot, to end up with a loose end to snell feathers to a hook?
Knots look so easy! Do you know of any reference books about UK knots, all I can find are written by Americans.
Hi john where did you get netting from to make your prawn net from many thanks John from Anglesey
Does that work with thinner line?
Is it better to put the hook twise?
Hi John , hope your well mate ?
I'm so use to using single hook set up's as been mainly coarse fishing when I lived in the uk . And that's carried thru into sea fishing here in Oz . I'm thinking about tying some of these rig's but was wondering what length of line you would start with to tie a 2 hook rig ?.

Hi mate,,,,that's a dropper loop knot ,,,,,
As much as I like your videos you really do need to learn to keep your hands in shot when tying knots. Us beginners can't keep up.
YOU ALWAYS DROP YOUR HANDS BELOW THE CAMERA ON THE HARDEST PART!
I usually tie 250lb conger traces we fish on Tuonella out of Paignton.
Would 150lb be okay to use on these rigs . Thanks Steve
at 6.11 you say, you take this piece,, but you have more than one piece in your right hand, so confusing here as I cannot see if you are using the loop of a strand..
No one explains it like you do you're no1
We call them dropper loops, I like the name blood better :P
IDK if you're calling them what you want (many of the twats here in the US are) but here they're called Dropper Loop and Twisted Dropper Loop.
Also when adding the hook that's called a cow hitch knot.
fucking pain in the arse tying these
These are very weak knots , the tucked grinner is twice as strong
