Roger Greenaway, and Roger Cook wrote, "Somethings Gotten Hold of My Heart"....which was a big hit for several people; including Gene Pitney. Masterful!

The work of Tony Burrows, Roger Greenaway, Roger Cook, Tony Macauley and many more UK masters of the 60's and 70's are remembered and respected here in the US as well.

The 70s produced music and songs that are still classics. Tony Burrows, was one of the most underrated talents of the era; he 'paired' with great song writers and as lead singer with several groups became a 1 hit wonder 5 times.

A little correction here, mate. Tony Burrows was not lead singer on one of his five times 1 hit wonder, My Baby Loves Lovin by White Plains. White Plains officially stated that the lead vocals were performed by Ricky Wolff. Tony and other members double him on the chorus.

@@marrero5215 There is debate as to who was lead singer. The band themselves claim that both sang dual lead. Depends which clip you view. Regardless, Burrows had a great voice and recorded classic songs.

@@paulgouge1896 The band White Plains states themselves in the the Official Release of the “White Plains: The Deram Records Singles”, that Ricky Wolff is the lead singer on the single, My baby loves lovin.
The liner notes published on the “White Plains: The Deram Records Singles” :

“Contrary to popular myth, we are assured that the lead vocals were performed by Ricky Wolff, with Tony Burrows doubling him on the chorus.”
It's a song by White Plains. According to the White Plains official statement above, Ricky Wolff is the lead singer on White Plains' My baby loves lovin and Tony Burrows is one of the backup singers singing on the chorus with other members.

@@paulgouge1896 - There's no debate at all. There's even a video with Ricky Wolff performing the song live and it is clearly the voice you hear on the record.

But Ricky Wolff was the actual lead singer of My Baby Loves Lovin. It has been long-standing misinformation that Tony Burrows was the lead singer on this song. Sorry he wasn't. He was one of the backup singers.

  • @edouglaspratt

These guys are great performers! Pop artists with reverence for jitterbug-zoot-suit culture, and a weird sense of humor. Some claim "Gimme Dat Ding" might be the first Rap? Uh...Man, that's a stretch. Bordering on ignorance. Not sure of the first recorded Rap, but it may be Cassius Clay promoting himself to the press cameras, broadcast worldwide. -Doug Pratt, Atlanta, Georgia, USA
