The Legend Tony Burrows, still a stone-cold pro to this day!
Roger Greenaway, and Roger Cook wrote, "Somethings Gotten Hold of My Heart"....which was a big hit for several people; including Gene Pitney. Masterful!
The work of Tony Burrows, Roger Greenaway, Roger Cook, Tony Macauley and many more UK masters of the 60's and 70's are remembered and respected here in the US as well.
Don't forget John Carter and Ken Lewis, and Geoff Stephens.
Priceless God-given talent on show !
Great harmony together. Thank you for all your wonderful music.
It’s so satisfying to know 53 years later how influential these guys were to me and my musical upbringing. Thank you for the music. J
Mine too .How lucky we were to grow up in that era .
I Love This & They Can Still Do It.
Talent is something that never leaves you and these guys still have it!
The 70s produced music and songs that are still classics. Tony Burrows, was one of the most underrated talents of the era; he 'paired' with great song writers and as lead singer with several groups became a 1 hit wonder 5 times.
A little correction here, mate. Tony Burrows was not lead singer on one of his five times 1 hit wonder, My Baby Loves Lovin by White Plains. White Plains officially stated that the lead vocals were performed by Ricky Wolff. Tony and other members double him on the chorus.
@@marrero5215 There is debate as to who was lead singer. The band themselves claim that both sang dual lead. Depends which clip you view. Regardless, Burrows had a great voice and recorded classic songs.
@@paulgouge1896 The band White Plains states themselves in the the Official Release of the “White Plains: The Deram Records Singles”, that Ricky Wolff is the lead singer on the single, My baby loves lovin.
The liner notes published on the “White Plains: The Deram Records Singles” :
“Contrary to popular myth, we are assured that the lead vocals were performed by Ricky Wolff, with Tony Burrows doubling him on the chorus.”
It's a song by White Plains. According to the White Plains official statement above, Ricky Wolff is the lead singer on White Plains' My baby loves lovin and Tony Burrows is one of the backup singers singing on the chorus with other members.
@@paulgouge1896 - There's no debate at all. There's even a video with Ricky Wolff performing the song live and it is clearly the voice you hear on the record.
Humbling to watch two masters practice their craft.
& marvelous too .
Troubles !! Oh yes, and what a brilliant hit for the fabulous Fortunes !!
Truly inspirational and sensational song writing duo. 💜💜💜
I play the White Plains, Pipkins, Brotherhood, Edison & First Class. I'm not fooled...that's all one solid voice! PS I was 7 in 1970. I knew!
Lots of us knew. Talent does not spread thin.
Apparently you were fooled because "My Baby Loves Lovin'" was sung by Ricky Wolff.
for real I wish I was at the Jam session!
What talented guys!!
I can remember being totally mystified how Tony Burrows (I didn't know his name then) came to be on TOTP so many times in so many different groups
These guys were so talented. I had no idea though... that they were The Pipkins. (I loved that song when it was out). Back from the days when music actually required TALENT.
The Pipkins Album was great!!! we played the grooves off of it! LOL thanks guys!
Wonderful - thank you !
Rock on, fellas!
Well that was an interesting "interview" - never spoke a word. :)
it was them wow i loved gimme that din
Love this upload! Thank you!
One of the Pipkins albums is now available on CD - see amazon or search google for Sweet & Pipkins. Best JOhn
only one tony burrows
@OffTheCharts365 It was Roger Greenaway who sung the flip-side titled "To Love You". Best
Interesting how in that clip from :29-:34 you can finally hear Roger's voice but in all the clips I've seen and I think the original recordings, you only hear Tony.
According to the Official Release of the “White Plains: The Deram Records Singles”, Ricky Wolff is verified as the lead singer on the single, My Baby Loves Lovin.
The liner notes published on the “White Plains: The Deram Records Singles” :
“Contrary to popular myth, we are assured that the lead vocals were performed by Ricky Wolff, with Tony Burrows doubling him on the chorus.”
Ricky Wolff is the lead singer on White Plains' My baby loves lovin and Tony Burrows is one of the backup singers singing on the chorus with other members.
But Ricky Wolff was the actual lead singer of My Baby Loves Lovin. It has been long-standing misinformation that Tony Burrows was the lead singer on this song. Sorry he wasn't. He was one of the backup singers.
If I had a $1 for every comment I have had to correct on YT and elsewhere. Isn't it insane just how many people have been given bad info?
La voz del señor Roger resalta mas
I WOULD LIKE WHERE IS SUNNY LESLIE AND SUE GLOVER NOW 2022,THANKS!!!
You hum it and they'll play it
Sampler ready for those harmonies...
1:34..TONY SOUNDS AS IF HES FROM NEW YORK CITY...
Does anyone know if Tony sang on "To Love You"? (B-side of "Gimme Dat Ding")
These guys are great performers! Pop artists with reverence for jitterbug-zoot-suit culture, and a weird sense of humor. Some claim "Gimme Dat Ding" might be the first Rap? Uh...Man, that's a stretch. Bordering on ignorance. Not sure of the first recorded Rap, but it may be Cassius Clay promoting himself to the press cameras, broadcast worldwide. -Doug Pratt, Atlanta, Georgia, USA
