Some of the best under 40$ bourbons that I managed to try (not in any specific order) 1. Eagle rare 2. Early times Bottled in Bond 3. Old forester 100 4. Green river 5. Wild turkey 101 6. Evan Williams Bottled in Bond 7. Benchmark Full Proof 8. Elijah craig small batch 9. Old grand dad 114 10. Knob Creek 9 Yr
I think he meant Cooper's Craft, which is $39.99 in VA. I'd pay $40 for the bottle everyday personally, but as he said - everyone has a different palette. I'd add Benchmark (Bonded or Full Proof) or Old Bardstown Estate Bottled if you can find 'em.
I have Jim Beam (white) $17, Jack Daniels $25 and Old Forester 86, $22, Ohio prices. These are affordable daily sippers. What is also very important, is when I need to replace a bottle I get the same taste out of the new bottle! Lots of good under$30 bottles, Bulleit bourbon & Rye, Buffalo Trace, Weller green label, and plenty more!
excellent topic ! I just recently over the last several months really started to dial in on good budget Bourbon. Theres just absolutely too much good Bourbon to only chase allocated Bourbon. Im in KY and most of the time if your looking for allocated Bourbon its just like anywhere else until you build a relationship with certain store's. Green River Bourbon , Rye and wheated has been on sale for 28.99 for about four months. The full proof is 43.99 and its a great pour. Excellent pours for the price ! As well as some of the Bardstown products. WT 101 at 19.99 .... that's a buy Jack Daniels Single Barrel Rye and Whiskey, 54.99 to 61.99. Absolutely. I purchased a Rye at 138.1 proof for 60 bucks Cant beat it. HH 7yr BiB has been in stock at a box store for 40.99 for 6 months and its a great pour as well. I love the " good stuff " as much as the next guy but i hate breaking the bank.
Heres my 2 cents worth. i like visuals, I want to see the bottle on that desk or just a label pic pop up as you describe these liquors. For some reason thats the thing that makes them stick in my head. I think it would improve the quality of your already great vidoes. Thanks for the video!
Love love love Michters small batch! Antioch Wine and Liquor (Antioch, IL) has it on sale right now for $41.99. We keep looking for something better but Mitcher Small Batch is hard to beat.
I'm not a pro, but here's my "shelfers" and the prices in my area: Old Grand Dad 114 (overall a great mixer for anything, especially an Old Fashioned) 28.99 JTS Brown & Vanilla Coke 9.99 L Henry McKenna Sour Mash & Pepsi 10.99 Buffalo Trace (when I can find it) & Coke 26.99-34.99 Weller (when I can find it) & Coke 28.99-35.99 My go to shelf "Sippers" under $40 in my area: Four Roses Single Barrel 36.99 Maker's Mark 46 32.99
Thanks for an informative presentation without "off topic" conversation. I'm convinced that WT 101, and Bulleit are worthy values. An everyday "sleeper" from Buffalo Trace is Ancient Age, and good entry level sipper Thanks David.
Old Grand-Dad 114 under $30. I get it for $27.99. I always have 2 bottles on hand! And everyone don’t lose your mind but BT for $26.99. It drops every 5-6 weeks in my area and we also get store picks couple times a year!
If we're going under $40 I would have Knob Creek 9 and Four Roses small batch in there. The complexity in that Four Roses is impressive for a 90 proof semi-budget bottle. And for us states that get swamped with Buffalo Trace, you really can't go wrong for like 24 bucks. I rock with OGD BiB and 114 but those seem to be more divisive.
Knob Creek 9 is minimally $43 where I am at. No dice at that price for what it is. OGD has no sweetness and I just won't buy it at any price anymore. Sorry.
I think Larceny is a good pick. Several bucks cheaper than Elija Craig small batch which is my other go to. $ 28 Larceny and $ 34 Elija Craig in N.C. ABC store.
I do not consider $50 budget by any means. I have quite a few that I have purchased in that price range and some even higher but they are more for Friday night pours or maybe the first pour on a Sunday afternoon watching football. Other than that this is a pretty good list. I used to think of budget is under $28 but with recent price increases would probably have to go a little over $30. The RR 10Y is around $40 in my neck of the woods and is a really good value IMO and has become more available for us. You mentioned Woodford's straight bourbon and am not sure if that is their distiller's select? If so that is one of my go to bourbons. For me it is something I use when I am in the mood for something between budget and some of the better ones and it fits the bill perfect for that. I am relatively new to the bourbon tasting and am limited to what he have available but if I go with $35 or less I would say OF100 or 86, Buillett, Four Roses, 1792 SB, Redemption, Jefferson's, Elijah Craig SB, Jim Beam double oaked, and WT101 as the 10 best. Even though our availability on a lot of bourbons are limited we are fortunate that quite often there are sales and we can get things like Buillett, 1792 SB, and EC SB for under $30.
WT101 is priced at 27.95 here (North Carolina is an ABC state) and at that price it's a bit overpriced. Too expensive to be budget, but if I want something better I can pay a bit more and get Rare Breed.
Those prices are all five to ten dollars more than I would pay for any of those bottles here in Houston, Texxas....... I think the best affordable bourbons are Wild Turkey 101, Early Times Bottled in Bond, Bowman Brothers Small Batch is about 27 bucks here.... Russell's Reserve 10 year is 38 bucks here and absolutely worth it.
@@WhiskeyRow its a Hiram Walkers charcoal filtered brown jug. So far I've only found the jugs for sale and they're empty. It is 80 years old and is 86 % proof
Them making "under $50" the bar for "bargain" opens up a lot of room. I also felt Woodford Reserve was pretty meh but we had it at the distillery last week and it was pretty decent. Cooper's Craft 100 (gong away?) and Knob Creek are usually under $40. I would try to find a Remus store pick rather than the standard offering (just me). Rebel store picks can be found in the $40s. And nobody mentioned Eagle Rare?
I see Eagle Rare about once every six months and it's $50. Coopers' Craft is very limited distribution and not in my state nor in the states around me. Never have seen a Rebel store pick.
@@Best_Served_Neat_On_Ice I am in CA where CC is not distributed. I bought it online from a store in FL. Last year I was in Chicago and Binny's had a bunch of Rebel store picks. Also a small CA chain (that ships a lot) had a closeout on a bunch of their Rebel picks earlier this year. If your state allows spirits to be shipped in, you should be able to find most things. I wish you luck. Cheers!
I can get Maker's Cask Strength for $39 at Kroger in my area. Even at $45, are you telling me that $45 is not a good buy for 6 yrs and 109 proof? Who are you kidding? Give me another 6 yrs 109 proof whiskey for $45.
Arguing about a couple bucks here and there is annoying. Also, there are 49 other states besides Virginia. Has it crossed your mind that costs differ from place to place? I live in Kentucky and everything is a giant ripoff. I have to travel outside Kentucky to get a deal on Bourbon (unless I go to Bardstown/Louisville)
Has it crossed your mind that he lives in virginia? He speaks on what he knows best. If it annoys you maybe there is someone else that will speak better to you. Find them.
Agree $50 isn’t an affordable whisky price point. You hit the nail on the head: JTS Brown. $16 where I’m at. Great video.
Evan Williams 1783 small batch for $ 22 is my go to for the budget route.$ 20 for bottled - in - bond not a bad pick up either
Yeah bib is killer
I always stock EW BIB as my rail bourbon for mixing.
Coopers Craft 100 is $35 in Alabama and amazing.
Yes it is
Some of the best under 40$ bourbons that I managed to try (not in any specific order)

I live in northeast mo and your prices are great ER10...$70 Green River...$35 Bench mark full proof...$40 KC9....$36
Good list. Haven't had Green River or Benchmark FP. I like the others.
Old Granddad 114 is hard to top.
I wonder if they meant Coopers' Craft 100 proof, not Copper Craft. Coopers' Craft is an excellent budget bourbon at $30.
Agreed🥃

Early Times Bottled-in-Bond is the best bargain bourbon at around $27 for a 1L.
Not only a bargain but a very solid Bourbon with a great nose.
$21 right now in Oregon
Agreed.
For sure!!
For sure, I buy all I can when I see it.
Green River

Rebel 100, Redwood Empire Pipe Dream, Larceny Small Batch, Four Roses small batch...just to name a few. I'm a big fan of JW Dant @$15 locally.
At $30 Bowman Brothers Small Batch is pretty good and easy to find, every bit as good as Buffalo Trace, but on the shelf
Agreed 🥃👍.
And he's even from Virginia and left them off his list?....must really not like them for some other reason 🤨
To me the perfect “first time” bourbon is Elijah Craig small batch.
Nailed it with the Michters. Very under rated and over looked!

Russel’s 10 is $29 at my local Sam’s club. Really good value if you can find it at that
wild turkey 101 or Jim Beam black 7 year? they are both 18-20 bucks a bottle here where i am.
Russel’s 10 year is a good pour.

Larceny small batch. $18.99 here in southern CA
How about Old Grand Dad BIB??
What are your thoughts on Bowman Brother's Small Batch? IMO it deserves to be on this list more than most others
Love the Remus.
WhiskeyTubers can’t convince me any longer that WT101 or KC9 are any good.
LoL 😂
Interesting review. I've come to realize the basics work well for me. It's hard to beat Maker's for $18 (w/rebate & sale) - $24.
Surprising ones missing - Early Times, Benchmark line, OGD line, Coopers Craft, and Knob Creek.
Fun video series would be budget battles. Do like 4 at a time and top one moves to the next round with 3 new ones.😊
Markers Mark 101 is better than cast strength for the money
Old Taylor 1.75l 19.99 is showing up on VA shelves as cheap bourbon but I've not picked it up yet to try.
I like 1792 sb, all the others except woodford but do like the double oaked
I think Larceny is a good pick. Several bucks cheaper than Elija Craig small batch which is my other go to. $ 28 Larceny and $ 34 Elija Craig in N.C. ABC store.
I have Kirkland small batch AKA 1792 Small Batch ($22) and Kirkland BIB ($26), both 1.75l. Both are from Bartons. I like the small batch better.

My current cheap bourbon is the cheapest smoke wagon for $25 at spec's in san Antonio
I don’t get why people sleep on Bowman Brothers small batch.
Yes, budget has to be under $40 IMO. ET BiB $21, MM 46 $27, KC9 $27, OGD 114 $27
I like this video, but please define budget bourbon. I think this should mean $15 to about $30 or $35
I pay 33.99 for a 1L of WT101 and happy to pay that. Can't get the 750 here. One of my favorites. Can get most OF but 100 isn't available
Blue Note Juke Joint for $30 is good.
Coopers craft 100 is pretty good. I asume its what you meant, not Copper Craft
Yea but vids like this absolutely end up nuking those prices. No hate just somthing i noticed and ill keep watching 😂
Copper Craft? Did you mean Cooper Craft Reserve? It's a tasty 100 proofer. Only $35 in Louisiana.
