I completed install of a new rack on my 91 vert with a buddy and it kicked our butts.... Granted we had neither done it before, but I felt that job was more challenging than expected. All respect to the "real mechanics" out there :)

Tar Heel Fox didn’t disappoint… looked good & reliable to drive it to every show. That’s awesome! Now top it off by getting the kids to the game in Tar Heel Fox 👍🏻

Hi Matt, I just replaced my power steering rack this past spring with 240,000km on it on my 86 GT. It was leaking from the input shaft. Replacement rack is like yours and I have had no issues so far. I also replaced the power steering pump resevoir to pump o ring seal which was seeping a bit. I also used power steering fluid in the system initially to top it off but shuld have used type F transmission fluid. Everything started leaking when I decided to flush the pump and rack. I hope the pump holds up because I have heard nothing but bad things about the replacement pumps.
Don't hit the tie rod directly with a hammer man. Use a prybar to apply downward preassure on the tie rod, use a hammer and strike the knuckle at the tie rod mount. You can damage the ball joint and or bend the tie rod.
Good choice with the new rack, not a reman. I have used that pump puller/installer tool many times over the years. Did you get a chance to see my 90 GT on Foxchamber channel?

Not sure on the part number, but should be able to find it on Summit, searching for an A1 Cardone stock replacement rack.

I hope it holds up man. I tried the pump first, but as you know had other issues, so just figured that I'd replace it all at once.

I think I've read that swapping to a SN95 rack is a worthwhile upgrade. Thoughts on that? Is there a reason you didn't?
I've heard about a cobra rack being an easier upgrade because it works without any modification. I'm not sure about the SN95. Haven't looked into it.
