    To answer the question of the title: Character integrity and safety! It could break the magic for children (adults as well) if they see multiple princesses and other characters just wandering around the parks, especially when they look messy or act rude. Children could also be led away/kidnapped because they trust the characters. Costumes are allowed at events like Halloween and running events (although latter has more guidelines), but people who dress like characters accurately can not pretend that they are the real characters. Disneybounding was found as a 'loophole' for this rule, although I must say some get very close to the edge between costume and outfit. (wigs, elaborate fabrics) The nice thing about Disneybounding is that you can wear it outside Disney as well, as you're using casual clothes. This was still a nice video about Disneybounding and it was nice to see the host so amazed, but maybe a title change would help viewers a little more? :)

  • @Averia89
    @Averia89 3 года назад +34

    I worked at Disney World in college and the primary reasons why they banned adults from wearing costumes in the park are pretty much:
    1. They don’t want to ruin the “magic.” They want the face characters (especially the princesses) to look a particular way, sound a particular way, and act a particular way. The auditions and training just to play Cinderella is extensive. Everyone doesn’t look like a princess - sorry. If Random Rhonda just walked in the park trying to be Belle, and didn’t quite look the way Disney wanted her to or capture Belle’s characterization it would be a hot mess.
    2. It’s not safe for you to dress up. If you pull off a pretty convincing Aurora and some creepy fan is obsessed with you, Disney doesn’t have your back. Security precautions are put in place to protect the actress who is paid to play Aurora, but if some creeper cornered you in the restroom with a chloroform towel...well oops.
    3. It’s not safe for the guests. Let’s be real, some people are weird. Who knows? What if you pretend to be Pocahontas in an effort to assault children? Disney ain’t got time for that.

My Gran immigrated from Scotland and she used to take us to Highland festivals to immerse us in our ancestral culture but Americans always asked where she was from. When family from Scotland visited her in America they would make fun of her accent and say she was “too Americanized.” She eventually developed Alzheimer’s disease and couldn’t remember immigrating so she would scream and cry and ask why she wasn’t in Scotland.

For many Disneybounders and Disney hardcore fans, we love Disney because it reminds us to play, believe in magic, and have hope. It reminds us how to be a kid again and also not forget it. Besides taking us away from the real world for a day, it also teaches us how to go back and make the world better, little by little. And sometimes it’s that little bit of hope that gets a dream started. So I’m glad this video is out there :)

I’d just never get the opportunity to do so but I know how things go through watching spoilers actually. I honestly never watch movies, just watch spoilers or reviews on RUclips to catch up with the people.

      If you can afford it, I reccomend getting a line jumper pass ! Especially if your child is super young. It can be a long day waiting in line. Also bring a blanket to the park, for a midday nap! When I went to Disneyland Paris, this was a common practice among fellow park attendees. I hope you have the best time ❤️

      The title doesnt imply it was about the ban. The main focus is about the trend that was started because of it. Also use common sense or just google it. Adults are the ones who work as the characters at Disney. Its a whole thing there so it's obviously about children not getting confused and ruining the realness of the characters

    • @ashleysokolik8688
      @ashleysokolik8688 5 лет назад +4

      Disney has a strict policy that there's only one Belle, one Cinderella, one of each character, to make them more alive. Even when you work there you can't say I was Cinderella, you have to say I was with or friends with Cinderella.

    • @MegaKaitouKID1412
      @MegaKaitouKID1412 5 лет назад +3

      It's pretty obvious: they don't want anyone whose not on their payroll and bound by their rules of performing (remember, two performers of the same character can't be seen in the same areas of the park, they have very specific images they have to give, ect) to be confused for their actors.

    I used to live in the St. Cloud/Kissimmee area (right by the park) and I've never heard the term Disneybound.
    But...I used to sneak in there when I was younger. There used to be an opening in a fence not far from Main Street. Slip in (avoiding the sensors), act like you work there, slip out onto Main Street, and then go get a hand stamp. That place is expensive, even with a Florida discount. Lol!
