This song is basically about how governments who start wars for their own gain, but won't actually fight in it. They'd rather send us commoners out there into the Hell.
"War Pigs" was written during the Vietnam War, and the Cold War. The song had meaning to young Americans, because the draft was still in place, and wealthy and powerful families could find ways to keep their adult children from being drafted into the US Armed Forces, while poor people had to be drafted, then fight and die in the war. During the Cold War, there were a lot of "proxy wars" all over the planet at that time, often taking place for control of oil fields, and precious metals mining interests. That is what Black Sabbath was angry about in this song.

This video is anti war and that is EXACTLY what the band says the song is about. You should read the lyrics yourself, geesh doesn't take an english professor to understand what they are saying.
When Toni Iommi worked in a factory before the band he accidentally cut off the tips of his fingers in a press , so he melted plastic on the ends of his fingers. That's what gives his playing that distinct sound, he still does it.
The song came out in 1970 and the Vietnam War had become increasingly unpopular at that time. The band were saying that poor folks are sent to war by rich politicians who don't feel much personal loss for all the deaths they are actually responsible for. The guitarist, Tony Iommi, lost the tips of two fingers at a sheet metal factory when he was 17 but didn't give up his dream of becoming a musician. Five years later this song came out, making him a world-wide legend.
The album was recorded in just a few hours as Sabbath were off to Germany and they had a weekend [or less] to provide the various tracks and had to leave its production into the hands of the studio. Genius sometimes just happens [although they had no idea they had a provided something timeless].
Tony Iommi was a sheet metal worker and he lost the tips of 3 of his fingers in a work accident. He thought his guitar playing days were over until someone gave him an old record of Django Reinhardt (1920's to 1950s Jazz Guitarist) who lost 2 fingers in a fire. Tony had someone make him prosthetic fingertips and they are part of the reason his style evolved the way it did. Bill Ward the drummer grew up in a household with a lot of Big Band Swing records and describes his style of drumming as being heavily influenced by big band swing drummers. Ozzy got the gig with the band because he had his own PA They started out as the Polka Tulk Blues Band, then changed their name to Earth but on finding out some band already had that name was looking for a name. A cinema across the road from where they rehearsed had a Spaghetti Horror film starring Boris Karloff called Black Sabbath and the rest is, as they say, history.
the guitar player was Tony Iommi, recorded in 1970. several years before this recording Tony lost the tips of 2 of his fingers on his fret hand, on the neck. He crafted some fake tips and has played for over 50 years that way. the singer was Ozzy Osbourne.
I love this especially how they play the electric guitar and also the drum sound I just love this music because you can really get into it especially when your going down the road
This song was made for, and came out during the Vietnam War. Tensions were very high, here at home in the States but, also every where else. We had riots all over the States, protesters killed in Berkley Univ. We had already lost over 1/4 of a million Black and White Men Fighting for a war we had no business being involved in. Ozzy wanted to express his view of the war.
You will find interesting about the guitarist, Toni Iommi, that not only is he left handed, but when he was younger the end of his fingertips on his middle two fingers were cut off in an accident. and he plays with plastic finger tips on his right hand. A very unique guitarist.

The album from whence this song derives was supposed to be called "War Pigs" but due to this songs lyrics the record company were told to change it to "Paranoid" despite the cover being printed with the actual war pig on the cover. It was released to soon after the Vietnam war. It's about how politicians send us to war and use us as pawns whilst they remain safe and get rich doing just that.
Great reaction! Yeah, the song is so old that there really is no video -- just a fan video like you said. And guitarist is the god of Metal: Tony Iommi. You guys got the meaning pretty well. it's about how the rich use the poor to fight wars for their own benefit.

The guitarist, Tony Iommi, lost the tips of two fingers at a sheet metal factory when he was 17 but didn't give up his dream of becoming a musician. Five years later this song came out, making him a world-wide legend.
I officially give up on waiting for you guys to react to metallica's video for "ONE"
Johnny got his gun Dalton trumbo
if enough of us report this goddam fan-made video, maybe it'll get removed? lol
Ozzy’s vocals in this blow me away.
The album was recorded in just a few hours as Sabbath were off to Germany and they had a weekend [or less] to provide the various tracks and had to leave its production into the hands of the studio. Genius sometimes just happens [although they had no idea they had a provided something timeless].
Toni Iommi. Black Sabbath. John "Ozzy" Osbourne singing. Geezer Butler on bass. Bill Ward on drums.
Ozzy got the gig with the band because he had his own PA
They started out as the Polka Tulk Blues Band, then changed their name to Earth but on finding out some band already had that name was looking for a name. A cinema across the road from where they rehearsed had a Spaghetti Horror film starring Boris Karloff called Black Sabbath and the rest is, as they say, history.
It's funny watching these two and understanding where the term "head banger's" comes from.
the guitar player was Tony Iommi, recorded in 1970. several years before this recording Tony lost the tips of 2 of his fingers on his fret hand, on the neck. He crafted some fake tips and has played for over 50 years that way. the singer was Ozzy Osbourne.
I love this especially how they play the electric guitar and also the drum sound I just love this music because you can really get into it especially when your going down the road
I like how you give instant personal view of the song. You my friends just earned a sub.
The video and the song have nothing to do with one another it's unfortunate you got caught up in the video.
Scott Diehl oof right everytime I see someone react to this I’m always hoping it’s not the damn video lmao
I frigging love Bill Ward's drumming on this song. He beat his drums like they'd stolen money from him or something to War Pigs especially.
Tony Iommi -- the master of the heavy metal guitar riff! That's all you need to know!
You will find interesting about the guitarist, Toni Iommi, that not only is he left handed, but when he was younger
the end of his fingertips on his middle two fingers were cut off in an accident. and he plays with plastic finger tips
on his right hand. A very unique guitarist.
Living in a Country that has a media doing it's best to try and get us to hate each other. I stumbled upon the blessing of you two. A lovely black couple listening to white music with an objective spirit. Thank you .
😊
This song was originally done by the English band Back Sabbath. It was a protest song against the Vietnam war.
Why doesn't anybody ever notice that insane bass track ?
Tony Iommi ,an outstanding left handed guitarist. The film is a reminder of the British author's classic novel 1984. A story of war and oppression, worth reaching.Greetings from Amsterdam.🇳🇱🥁🖐️ps.the author is George Orwell.
Great journey you have started 👍
The Guitarist is Tony Iommi, the legendary 'Master of the Riff'!!!!! Ozzy Osborne on vocals, Geezer (Bill) Butler on Bass and Bill ward on Drums!
You really need to see Black Sabbath - War Pigs - Live in Paris 1970!
Thanx for your reactions!
Love these reaction vids. Love your passion. Music is a great unifier. It's nice to see you giving some attention to a song with such a powerful message. (U got me subbed)
Tony Iommi is the guitarist and Ozzy Osbourne the lead singer.
Ioannis Kostoulas 😱 Ozzy
Love you guys, finally reacting to the "real deal"
You should do killed by death by motorhead, lemmy is the boss
Miguel Coelho Lemmy is God
The album from whence this song derives was supposed to be called "War Pigs" but due to this songs lyrics the record company were told to change it to "Paranoid" despite the cover being printed with the actual war pig on the cover. It was released to soon after the Vietnam war. It's about how politicians send us to war and use us as pawns whilst they remain safe and get rich doing just that.
Bill Wards drumming on this track is funking amazing
Great reaction! Yeah, the song is so old that there really is no video -- just a fan video like you said. And guitarist is the god of Metal: Tony Iommi. You guys got the meaning pretty well. it's about how the rich use the poor to fight wars for their own benefit.
God, I love you 2.... I've listened to this for 40 years... Only difference, you folks had your jondra... We had ours, all music with a message doesn't matter what black or white we are all from the same cloth.... Death , destruction, and it doesn't matter who you are ( are you here to b used) all goverments are the same... Black or White.... We are just cannon foder
The guitarist is Tony Iommi. He is a legend. He was playing that guitar minus the fingertips on his frett hand.
This is Ozzy Osbourne with original Black Sabbath in 1968!..Amazing!
Black Sabbath in their day was a very controversial band. They were called all sorts of things from Satanists to anarchists but in the end, 50 years later people are still being moved by lyrics that are as relevant today as they were then. Isn't' music a wonderful thing, a little bit of someone soul for the rest of us to share. Thank you Ozzy and all the other pioneers that said F' it, this is good!
Black Sabbath was another great band!
I love how people are still discovering black Sabbath. And the guitar is tony iommi the bass guitar g Butler and ward is on the drums and Osbourne is lead singer
Mountains of great rock music out there, hope people start making lots more.
Love to see everyone exposed to the classics, crazy how some are even more relevant today
Toni Iommi and he lost the tips of his middle and ring fingers in a work accident at a sheet metal factory but that didn’t stop him from being named one the greatest guitarists of all time
You got it guy's. Just ran across you guy's, enjoyed hanging with y'all for a minute. Peace
Black Sabbath: best band ever
The song is basically saying that war = $$ and soldiers are pawns to be used and discarded by politicians for power.
OZZY RULES 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
