- iPhone 15 Pro ProRes Log External Recording To M.2 NVMe SSD - Recording externally to an SSD from an iPhone 15 Pro/Max gives a user the ability to capture ProRes Log 4k 60 content. I wanted to test if the iPhone 15 Pro could record externally to my M.2 NVMe SSD. This is because NVMe SSDs run on a PCIe interface and not SATA, so they're considerably faster. I was curious if this would be a problem! Find out!!

Hello, Does Asus ROG strix works with iphone 15 pro for prores mode? Pls help
I tried a Crucial P3 4TB NVMe and it didn't even detect it or work at all. I tried a 512GB Intel NVMe and it worked first time. I hate the Crucial because its slow, but on the other hand it was £150 for 4TB so not bad, just no good for iPhone. Do you know if there is a limit on how big the NVMe can be ?
_That is where it becomes a problem, I’ve tested two different cables a 5 Gb/ second cable and a 10Gbs cable I thought the chords didn’t matter, but it turns out it actually does_

I have 2 of these Sabrent enclosures. Neither work with my iPhone 15 pro max. I’ve got Sabrent 2tb nvme 4.0 inside. I’ve read that the nvme 3.0 do work, but not the 4.0. I’m tempted to try a better cable. Has anyone done this with another cable, and got it to work?
I'm pretty sure 4th Gen NVME don't work from what I've seen. Mine was a 3rd Gen NVME
I have a Samsung evo 970 512gb nvme m.2 and it don’t seem to work. The drive in its enclosure does light up but, it makes a strange low volume clicking sound. Do I need a certain enclosure to make this work?
I have same issue with Samsung NVME... Let me know if you found any Solution to make it work
@@07SATS look up the power spec required for your NVME drive. The iPhone 15 pro will only power devices at 4.5 watts or less. I discovered the Samsung Evo 970 512g I have, requires 6 watts. That’s why it wouldn’t work for me. I bought a Samsung T7 drive and it works great, it requires a max of 4.1 watts. I guarantee you’re having the same problem I did. Typically the larger the capacity the more power is required.
@@chriskosin472 I have 990 NVME M.2. and based on the quick reading and analysis Gen 4 SSD is not supported by iPhone Pro max.
@@07SATS it has to be due to the power requirements of the drive. Only thing I can think of that would make it not compatible

What about the adapter? I got one from lemorele and an sabrent rocket q 2tb pcie 3... my iphone 15 pro doesnt even recognize, in the camera or app file... but If i use and adapter usb a to c with an sd card on another adapter it work fine@@GeekyStuff
I'm finding the 15 pro uses a lot of battery as is. Can you have an adapter that allows you to charge with an external battery while recording to the SSD?
I don't think there is, but it would be amazing if there was!!

_3:15__ for this I have a four bank battery 10,000 mA MagSafe charger 🔌 on the back of the battery, I have glued a very thin piece of sheet metal for the T7 Samsung SSD case holder to attach to the back of that, ultimate convenience_

the cable that comes with iphone is usb 2.0 and will NOT allow you to record pro res 60. (it will stop after a few secs)
Yea that's why I say you need USB 3.1 or 3.2 to make 100% sure of compatibility 👌
Most external SSD’s now use NVMe drives instead of SATA.
Bit disappointing that you have to borrow an iPhone to do content like this, not really impartial, it’s a bit jaded to watch when you are heavily snapdragon influenced.
Yea, this isn't me reviewing iPhones though or comparing to Snapdragon powered devices. I'm just testing technologies. It's no lie that I am an Android lover, but I respect Apple 👌
