- Five people have been charged by federal prosecutors for the robbery of a million dollars worth of luxury watches and other jewelry from a San Ramon jeweler. It's unusual for federal authorities to get involved in a case like this, experts said.

I don't think owning a shop in the country is worth it anymore, because the violent criminals will never fully pay for their victims' permanent financial and physical damages. Their worst scenario is getting free meals, healthcare and shelter for the rest of their lives, which will be paid by the taxpayers

Lucky if you live in San Ramon, but what about the rest of residents in the East Bay, like the 70 years old resident of Oakland hills who had to fight back with her gun when the thieves destroyed her front door and got to her bedroom at gun point demanding her jewelry. She reached to her gun and shot at the thieves, but they got her valuables and shot back at her 17 times. By God's Grace none of the bullets got her. We need more action to protect all of us.

The ability to track a very expensive watch is kind of scary. If someone buys that watch, someone else could possibly track its location and set up a robbery.

Is a "dummy watch" meaning all Rolex watches on display lack movements and have GPS inside for this very same reason. Real ones are on a safe at the back of the store and DON'T have GPS's

I’m surprised that the federal government doesn’t recognize just how bad the Bay Area has become and intervene. Punishment for crimes should be a national thing. Seems like the Bay has its own policies that are much softer than most.

This might be charged in Federal Court because the Rolex watches involved interstate commerce and the amount of thief was over million in value. Good use of tech to gps their route and location.
Any sort of armed robbery should warrant at least a 20 year prison sentence and when I say 20 years I mean they'll serve all of it with no chance of getting out early. I don't know why criminals typically serve for this crime but it clearly isn't enough. When you cross the line of telling the world "I'm not only willing to steal from you but also I'm willing to kill you as well." as far as I'm concerned you no longer deserve to live. That's just me though. I can't see there being much armed robbery if they knew they would lose 20 years of their life if caught.
