With the recent announcement of the NBA Jam Tournament Edition Deluxe coming soon, are you sticking with this Shaq Edition or the older generation 3/4 scale NBA Jam cabinet?
Shaq for sure. $250 cheaper, bigger, bigger screen. After a monitor swap it's better in almost every way.

Hey Jason,I was really looking for this review, and you covered it In depth and you hit every aspect of the arcade. Another great review. I just saw that arcade1up released the deluxe nba jam, but I would definitely go for the Shaq edition that arcade is massive in height. Besides the screen, everything else I love. Your sports section is looking sweet by the way with the shaq addition to the room. I was a little bummed that iircade is no longer, I’m glad I got mine decided to pick one up after I saw your review. Thanks Julio I really appreciate that! The newly announced nba jam deluxe looks pretty cool with the light up coin door and buttons but I think the Shaq cab still has the edge out of those two. I’m really loving it so far. Yeah it was a bummer to see the iiRcade close up shop, there’s some games on there I’m really glad to have on it like Ninja Spirit, Vigilante , Neo Drift Out etc. so I’m definitely going to keep that machine. Lovin the Shaq Edition NBA Jam cabinet with the nice visuals that makes the cab stand out. If they made an NFL Open Ice Challenge cabinet, would you get it? As always, I love how you break down the review of the cabinets right down to the details of the bells and whistles right down to the description of each game. Can't wait for you to do some more regional arcade tours in the Philly area as you guys have some unique arcades down there.

Oh, wow, they have the Barkley ROM? That was some kind of unicorn back in the day. I think very few arcades had the release that had Barkley in the roster because they didn't have the licensing fully sorted out and had to swap him for someone else in later releases.
Barkley one of my favorite players to use. All around good player and can both do the great dunks and shoot threes in this.
I really want this cabinet but it's almost a $1000 in my country still to this day 😞

Cool review, I saw Shaq addition and thought maybe he was in the game, he was a lot of fun in the arcade NBA JAM, we had a sports trading cards store that had the cabinet in the back and I would usually pick Shaq because his dunks were even more outrageous and powerful than everybody else plus he could just run people over, regularly broke the backboards. This looks cool though!

Nice! That new one looks awesome. Would you say the joysticks on that are a big improvement over the older machines? I heard they were better.
Correct me if im wrong. The new deluxe has only a 17 inch monitor making it an inferior product.
Yeah I’m liking the Shaq Edition a little better than the new deluxe version. The new one has the smaller 17 inch monitor but it’s a BOE which is better quality. The new one also has light up coin door and buttons. But overall the Shaq Edition is bigger and looks better in my opinion and also cheaper when it’s on sale.
Hey Jason, do you think the marquee will block the viewing angle for a 6'3 tall person? I'd be really excited to get this machine. But I am living in Europe, so I can't have a look for myself as those cabinets are still very tough to find in stores.

@@3rdFloorArcade Thanks for the quick response! Good to know that I won't have the same problem as with my MVSX. I had to build a custom riser for me to reach the buttons and to see the screen :D

Not a fan of that version of Jam at all… Glad you’re enjoying it though. I assume the $300 discount was to get rid of stock as they bring in the new model they just announced. It’ll likely cost $300 to upgrade the Shaq model to get that screen properly working & add coin doors if you wanted them. Or end up buying another model later on down the line. For now I’m sticking with my OG model. I’ve added some 🔥 Szabo upgrades & have a buystuff riser booster for it. I would love to have the coin doors on the front, but might settle for a mini fridge mode at some point
I like that OG NBA Jam also. I sold mine to a buddy about a year ago and was definitely missing that in the game room. The mini fridge idea sounds awesome, I was thinking about doing that with the OG Golden Tee actually. Thanks for checking out the video Half A Dozen! 👍

I don’t understand why they call it the vault like they Disney vhs tapes. Disney would lock titles in the vault for 5 to 10 years before rerelease. 1up rereleases every year.
Yeah the re-release are getting out of control. I can see why they are doing it from a financial standpoint as they’re trying to get every dollar possible out of these licenses but it certainly gets frustrating for the die-hard fans. Thanks for checking out the video StepsGaming.
I can get this for 575 flat right now. I assume that wouldn’t be worth it though and I should probably just wait for the Black Friday sale or something?
I think it will definitely get cheaper than 575 this fall since there is a new NBA Jam TE Deluxe coming in October. I bet the Shaq cab will go to $399 again soon.

Everything should be XL moving forward, especially now that they're using IPS screens in the XLs, not the TN that they had here.

This one doesn’t really need any added height even if you’re 6 ft or over. It’s a decent height.
I'm having a hard time deciding between nba jam shaq xl and mk2 deluxe. If they were the same price what would u go with?
That’s a close call. I think I’d go the MK2 deluxe. And then once the new NBA Jam TE deluxe comes out this fall maybe jump on that.

I find it absolutely hilarious Benoit Benjamin said no for my Supersonics. I'd rather not even have him anyways as he was a complete buster. Also can't believe they released this again and still with no additional games. Dump that monitor in a fire pit already! Swap is easy.

@3rdFloorArcade I had to swap monitors twice on GTxl. First had a dim bottom corner. Doh. Finally got its replacement yesterday and yeah wow what an improvement. That Supersonics team shoulda had Rickey Pierce instead of Benjamin.

@3rdFloorArcade I'm not sure. Thought i heard it was the same. But I can say it's worked great. I had played GT on the ALU and that trackball made it impossible. Btw when you change monitor and are screwing it into the old housing barely tighten those screws. I may be the reason I needed a 2nd monitor. Slightly too tight and it messes up the leds on the side of monitor. Good luck!

No Jordan. They weren’t allowed to use him due to licensing.
Personally speaking - I would not go with Arcade1Up or any other replica cabinets - either go full original or just emulate or play on consoles.

Yeah I totally agree. The re-releases have gotten really old. I’m really hoping they start upping their game soon.
