FOR MAME FOLKS - Method 3: Mame in Debug mode
Normally it wouldn't launch in Mame but if you run it in debug mode it'll work. Create a shortcut of Mame and go to its properties, in the Target section append these flags at the end: -window -debug nbajamte2
This will enable the Debugger and it'll launch Mame in windowed mode. You can omit the -window to go full screen.

It took nearly 30 years but this is the version that should have been in the arcades. What amazing work by the community! I dropped tons if quarters into NBA Jam.

I'm 44 .I lived in the arcade in the 80s & early 90s. Shoveled snow from driveways & walkways in the winter & picked fruit in the spring/summer just to give it all away to a damn machine. NBA JAM IS IN MY My top 5 ALL TIME. Guess that's why I watched this entire video.
NBA Jam and NFL Blitz is the pinnacle of arcade sports games. I appreciate that they didn't make MJ super over powered.

That was the year Jordan was NOT retired (1st) anyways. But Shaq and Barkley was not just there. NBA Jam was the greatest present I received as a child, thanks to my father (RIP). It was the sh!t. It was bigger than Live and 2k when I had it. And you're playing against Miami Heat, my team.

Mark Turmell who made NBA Jam also was big assistant on Smash TV and made a great Atari 2600 game called Turmoil or something
as a person who love NBA jam and have played it since I was a kid in the arcade there are a few things I will like to add to your commentary about the game. the original version of T.E did have the backboard breaking in the 4th quarter, not sure if they changed it in the patches that came out after when they took out the mortal Kombat characters as well. I have vivid memories of playing as sub-zero as a kid when I learned the code for him. As for Jordan I do believe he was in the game but was taken out before the game was released, that's why the announcer says his name in the game (same with shaq who also got his version shipped to him). supposedly as in a video on RUclips on the history of NBA jam, Ken Griffey Jr was also suppose to be in the game and was sent a custom version with him in it (I would have love to have played that).
