  • Massive M. balfouri Communal BIG UPDATE!! What Next For The Colony???
    So after 8/9 months the time has come to redo the Monocentropus balfouri communal enclosure. In this video we give you the reasons as to why we decided to reduce the numbers and and rearrange the whole enclosure. If you like the video, please share it as I would love for thos one to hit the high heights the feeding video hit as I feel personally this is a much better video and I am soo pleased with how it turned out.
    Massive shoutout to Tim for his contribution to organising the day and a special shoutout to his young lad for being an absolute superstar.

    • @IanTarrantula
      @IanTarrantula  4 года назад

      Yeah definitely a difference in how fast they grow in a communal compared to keeping them solitary

    • @magnipettersson4432
      @magnipettersson4432 10 месяцев назад

      yea. thats so weird i think spiders maybe somehow evolved to live communally and simply most of them evolved away from it.
      so weird cause huntsman spiders and other social spiders also grow significantly faster communally.
      edit: i mustnt forget to say about huntsman spiders. they also have a main breeding female that mimicks the role of a queen but no genetic disposition is for that role so the oldest daughters fight for the role sometimes where males are seen as nuisances taking up space for they are meant to be few so in the captive experiment the huntsman "queen" and daughters all are more likely to kill a male than a small female.
      my own theory is that like in ants the male is meant to go out and spread the "queens" genes. not because they are any closely relate to ants or wasps or bees but because "theres only so many ways to create a bowl"

      Personally I would risk adding one to a communal if it has been kept solo for a period of time. It has been done by others, but it is much higher risk which I wouldn'ttake myself. Thanks for watching 🙂

    I'm sorry I can't understand English very well, I'm going to do a balfouri communal starting with 10 slings.
    I have 2 question it is possible to add other balfouri in future in the same communal? Will the new member be accepted or not?
    Second question in a communal with mature male and female are possible some breeding?
    Thank for your channel I really love it

    • @IanTarrantula
      @IanTarrantula  3 года назад

      Thanks for watching.
      If adding another comunal it is recommended to house them in a completely new enclosure. My next video I will be adding mixed communals together into one.
      Breeding can happen in a communal but if you want to breed I would recommend breeding females kept single as you will have a better chance.
