I swear I didn't speed up the audio, there was just aloooot of information to cover in this video and I had one too many coffees before recording everything. :') Raise your skeletal hand if you're excited for more videos like this and let me know if you found the video helpful in the comments below! I love reading everything you guys have to say.
I started drawing again, after 1 year of pause and i didn't remember how to properly color on csp and youtube recommended this video after i wasted my time looking 4 videos what where not what i was looking for. This was exactly and plenty of more what i was looking for. And even more amazing coincidence is that it's from Artist who i follow on twitch. Thank You Crimsy.
Congrats on getting on the CSP tips pages. I'm glad someone remembered that not everyone knows what blending modes are, though I would love to see someone do a full tutorial on each mode. I learned a few other things here and confirmed a few things I found myself. Ace job!
Sorry for such a late reply, but thank you so much, that's very kind to say! I try to keep in mind that most people who watch tutorials don't always know the basics of digital art, so I'm glad you thought the video covered these well, cheers! (。’▽’。)♡
Wow, this video is really helpful, probably the most helpful digital colouring video I've come across! Thank you so much for putting in the time to make this! :D I can't believe it doesn't have more views/likes!!
That is such a nice thing to say, thank you! (●´□`)♡ These do take a lot of time to make, but it's worth it all just to get comments like yours! I'm happy you found the video helpful and I wish you lots of fun with your art projects, cheers! (*´▽`*)
Great video! I use Krita personally but I felt a lot of this applies anyway. Also your voice is very pleasant and relaxing to listen to, hope you produce more helpful content like this in the future.
Thank you so much for all your support and kind words lately! I'm really happy you liked the video and that the tips are relevant across different softwares! :)
Whenever I try to do smooth shading with either the airbrush tool, blur tool, gradient or smooth watercolor tool, It always give that ugly color streak/lines/rings that doesnt give it the smooth shade/lighting look, which sounded like "color banding". Have you ever dealt with that before? If so, how would you fix it? OR would just adding a noise filter to that layer fix it?
No no, don't use noise filters, it's unrelated. If your colors do that either you don't work with a big enough canvas or you use correction layers too much, but usually it's a value related issue. I don't know how you work, but I usually work with at least a 4k square canvas at 300 dpi (the dpi is only relevant to printing though) and for blending I use the ''smooth watercolor'' and the ''paint and apply 3'' mostly along with the standard soft brush. If you stretch your values too much you will see that kind of artifact happen alot, so to avoid it try not to over saturate your colors and definitely keep watching tutorials on shading to get the hang of it. I'm sure you'll be fine, it's something we all go through learning digital coloring, but with some experience you'll eventually understand how to properly approach shading so that these issues don't show up anymore. :)
