Let me know what you would like to learn next! I want to offer more resources for artists to learn digital art with CLP in the future so let me know if there's anything you'd like to see! 😃
I've never been able to draw, but It's interesting to see how the process of making something like this looks like. Well done, Crimsy, keep up the good work!
Thank you so much! I'm glad the video helped you gain some confidence and I'm really excited to see more people make patterns, they're sooo much fun! :)
This is a perfect tutorial. Super easy to understand and truly creates beautiful seamless patterns! I'm so glad I found this, it has been extremely helpful.
This was so very helpful and I absolutely adore your artwork creatures, they're so much fun!!! You're an excellent teacher, right to the point without a lot of unnecessary chatter! You're awesome 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Sorry for missing your kind comment, but thank you for making it! I'm always happy to hear that my video helped someone out and was easy to follow. ヽ(o♡o)/
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for making this tutorial!! I have been wanting to learn how to make seamless patterns for so long and just found this video! ♥♥♥
Sorry for the late reply, but I'm very happy you liked the video and that it could help you, I wish you the best with your upcoming art projects, cheers! ( ˊᵕˋ )♡.°⑅
Aaaah, so fun! Thank you for creating this clear tutorial - I really need to try this out! I've wanted to try seamless repeating pattern making for quite some time now, but the only good tutorials I could ever find used Procreate, which I don't have access to. Best wishes with your move, take care of yourself, and keep up the good work! 😆💙👍🎨
super helpful! i love having the visual aspect to this, it really helped walk me through it! also the mushrooms are all super cute and is partially what attracted me to this walkthrough in particular lol
Ahh I'm replying to this so late, but thank you for the sweet comment! I'm happy you liked the little mushrooms and I hope you will be having lots of fun creating your very own patterns, cheers! (‘∀’●)♡
Ah you sweet bot boi! =w= Thanks a lot for the kind words, I'm stoked that you enjoyed the video, now go make me us some patterns Seaboop and feed my addiction! 😜
Hi there, at 1:30 in the video I create the canvas and show its size. It's 4000x4000 pixels at 300 dpi. Of course you do not need such a large canvas for a pattern, 2k would also be fine, it really depends on your needs (if you mean print it or not mostly), but I always work bigger just in case. 😉
I don't know Paint Shop Pro, but the technique itself can be reproduced in any digital drawing software really. The only difference is you might not have CLP's pattern library available to you, but the principles for creating the patterns stay the same. :)
Oh no, another nice comment I've missed, thank you for making it! I'm sure there are other tutorials out there, but either way I'm very happy if you found mine helpful in particular! (´∀`)♡
Sorry for this terribly late reply, but hopefully you found the solution in the comments as I'm pretty sure I had answered a few similar questions to yours before;; (´∀`;)
hi thank you for this tutorial! I've followed your steps but for some reason when I move the folder over, the Tiling box can't be checked, any idea why that would be?
Did you duplicate your folder, merge/collapse the folder copy into a single image and then drag it into the image library? If you tried dragging the folder itself into the library that might be the reason why it's not working. :)
I tried what you showed but When I cut them into half in any direction it stayed little stain near cut line ( like color that I used ) how do I fix that? pla could tell me what to do? thank you
My screen may be too small. I can't see the part where you save to a folder and duplicate it very well in the pink background mushroom pattern part. What are the step by step directions? Also, is there a way to delete a pattern after its been added?
They are pixel drawings, high resolution .png to be precise. I believe I was drawing on a 4k x 4k canvas at 300 DPI when I made them so resizing shouldn't be an issue in this case. If your art becomes blurry or pixelated when scaling it up, it might be that your resolution is too low and enlarges the pixels too much.
I used the move tool with the left/right arrow keys while zoomed in. The more zoomed in your canvas is and the more pixel precise the move tool becomes. ;)
I was wondering if you knew how to do this process on a Samsung Tablet. Since I don't have a keyboard attachment, I'm having trouble figuring out how to follow the tutorial
This is a CSP tutorial aimed at pc users for the most part. I believe the tutorial would be very similar in steps on mobile, but the interface would be somewhat different, so I recommend you searching specifically for CSP tutorials on mobile or reading the manual to find where the equivalent shortcuts and features are on mobile to get a similar result.
for some reason i have like 2 pixels where the pattern has a gap on the top and bottom, i checked the original and there are no gaps! i dont know why its doing this :(
A few people seem to have this issue as well, but I really don't know what causes it, I'm sorry. It might have to do with the selection tool selecting an uneven number of pixels so when you make your cut, there's a single odd pixel that does not get selected for each halves, so it ends up being off by 2 pixels. That would be my best guess, but I don't know how to fix such a thing... :(
@@CrimsyCreates I figured it out. I had a lot of separate shapes and one of them for some reason, I went through every layer pressing crtl-T and found the layer that wasn't completely inside the box :)
I specify at the beginning of the video that I work on a 4k canvas at 300dpi, but the size can be smaller than that depending on what you want to use your pattern for. 2k is fine if you don't intend on printing it on something big or turning it into merch. :)

Awesome tutorial, very well explained! What's great is that those techniques can easily be used in almost any software :> Nicely done!
Yeah, you should definitely make a similar tutorial for Krita, I'm sure it would do well! Thanks for the support Kit, I'm happy you liked it! :)

This is so awesome. Will these processes work in Paint Shop Pro? I have a seamless pattern function I can use but I always get that faded color.

Another question, is there a way to curve a pattern after its been tiled? I'm working on patterns for cricut vinyl. Thanks!
are they vector or pixel illustrations? do they become blured and pixelated when you enlarge them?
They are pixel drawings, high resolution .png to be precise. I believe I was drawing on a 4k x 4k canvas at 300 DPI when I made them so resizing shouldn't be an issue in this case. If your art becomes blurry or pixelated when scaling it up, it might be that your resolution is too low and enlarges the pixels too much.
howd you manage to move the cut layers so that they were perfectly aligned with there other halves ?
I used the move tool with the left/right arrow keys while zoomed in. The more zoomed in your canvas is and the more pixel precise the move tool becomes. ;)

I can't say for sure, but I don't see why it wouldn't? As far as I know, the cross platforms versions are very similar to each other.

what size is the canvas in the 2nd tutorial ?
