    John you should preserve the button head man on the control panel somehow. Can't believe it was designed that way - hilarious.

    I love these restore videos, although this is more of a rebuild from scratch series! LOL It is so amazing that you have the drive and determination to bring these awesome games from our youth back to life! I'm waiting with bated breath for the next video in this series! I used to play this game all the time back in the arcade and always had a blast! I even remember playing this game after Steve Perry left Journey and the operator had replaced the original Journey audio tape with Steve Perry's first solo hit Oh Sherry. Still awesome, even though it technically wasn't a Journey song! Keep up the amazing work and stay cool bro! Love it!!

      John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech Yeah, I hear ya! It's really fast and foolproof. I have a nice "regular" wire stripper that has the individual gauges and that still takes a century to strip wires compared to this gizmo. Crazy.

    the lines at tts right (but as rotated 90º the tube, uppper part of the tube), it is the VERTICAL stage, just change the capacitors and it will work fine. Now the horizontal reduction (as it is rotated 90º, it is the upper/lower part where the image is compressed), it is actually the "horizontal size" reducing, so it must be a the horizontal +B that has a cap dry.

      Ya, all though I've only played a combined hour or so of Golden Tee, I am finding myself playing this PGA golf game a lot. Has good graphics and lots of features. I thought I would gut this cab up for parts, but now I think I'll keep it. All it really needed was a new stick of RAM (which I have buckets of) and the security dongle (must have been picked by the op).

    Just stared watching this restore & I must say... you seem to work backwards ? LOL
    I don't know about anyone else, but I would be stripping the cabinet of all its parts first, then repairing the cabinet so all you need to do is put the parts in.
    Putting all the parts in then working on cab will just dirty everything ! I've noticed you've done this in a few other restores.
    Get the hardest part done first, which is the cab, then do the fun stuff !!!

    • @Johnsarcade
      @Johnsarcade  8 лет назад

      +PinMan Dan I like getting the game working first. Then do the cosmetics. The biggest challenge of the Journey restore was getting it working. I was missing everything.

    Looking forward to this rebuild. Seems expensive so you must really like the game. I have never heard of the game and had to Google+RUclips it. Still have no recollection of this or the band....Must have been a USA craze. Seems to be like Marmite you either love it or hate it from what Ive read on it. The digitized faces of the band technology was going to be used to save high scores, but when out on test someone flashed a naughty photo so it was pulled.LOL

      70/80s. The likes of Abba was 70's. I wasn't really into rock though except for Queen. I checked on RUclips and I don't recognize any of the music from Journey. I might just be getting old, can any other UK/European subscribers remember Journey the band or machine from back in the day?

    John, I have that very same Power Chassis that is in the bottom of this Journey cabinet for my MS Pac-Man Cocktail table (apparently they used that power chassis in the later runs of MsPac). Currently I am getting ~45VAC from it instead of the 12VAC and 7 VAC respectively. I am at a loss as to how to repair or obtain replacement parts for that chassis. I have asked on like 4 different forums and have had no luck.. Could someone please be so kind as to share a few pointers?
    Thanks! I love your video series, keep it up!

    • @Johnsarcade
      @Johnsarcade  10 лет назад

      Is it the transformer winding that is shot? You are measuring out of the transformer? You might need to find a new transformer all together. It's possible to rebuild it, I think there are a couple of filter caps in it. But if the transformer is shot you'll need a new one. I would make a post on KLOV.COM looking for one. Shouldn't be too horribly difficult to find. It's not rare.

    You could have had the trackball hole in the original control panel welded up. It is just a matter of cutting out a circle of sheet metal that's the same size as the trackball hole, welding it in there flush (use magnets to hold it in the hole flush until it's tack welded in place), grinding the welds down flat, and then skimming the seam with Bondo. It would have been cheaper than a reproduction control panel, and it would have been original to the machine.

    why you keep thinking wires are too long all the time. they are not too long. they have never looked too long when you said they are. not like it is not going to work now. what is the worst that could happen it being a little "too long"
    you mess them up more by trying to get them short because think they are too long but then they are too short. do it again and think they are too long when they are not. what you think is long enough always looks too short to me. there is barely any contact for the connector it looks like.
