My mother actually worked as the manager of a local video store back when I was a child. Sometimes she would take me to work and I can remember playing in the store. Other days she would setup a game console (because they rented those out too) for me and I’d sit and play games while she worked. I grew up in a very rural area in the late 80s and 90s so we never had a Blockbuster (which might have been for the best as they edited their movies) but we had a bunch of small chains and mom & pop video stores. Those stores had tons of horror, cult and even adult videos. That’s where I really cut my teeth being a genre film fan at a young age.
One of my fondest memories of the video store was when a "ma&pop" store (by the name of Home Entertainment Videos) brought in arcade cabinets! My bestfriend and I spent hours playing a game by the name of "Cyber City," dropping quarter after quarter into the machine. We were devestated when they swapped it out for a different title...
I used to love farting in the aisles of video stores where the new releases were and watching people have to smell it while gagging just to get The Waterboy with Adam Sandler....and they would!
Good memories. Growing up in Connecticut We had a local place called "Real to Reel" video in mid 1980s. Then I remember the video store in Stop and Shop grocery. Mid 90s we had a local place called "Tommy K's" video.
I love Cinema Snob's point at 22:00! You'd still watch the film you rented, regardless! Unlike my Netflix queue that sits untouched unintentionally, LOL! Nailed it!
When I was a kid we used to go to a video store in Midlo Illinois called the house of video right next to it was a Little Caesars Pizza so you going to order your pizza then you get your 3 movies for like a week and then you go home at on Saturday with pizza and. three movies
6:53; As a youth I went to the video store to rent "The Evil Dead" based on my friends talking about it, but I forgot the title and rented "Dead Alive" instead. I kept waiting for Bruce to come on screen, however I enjoyed the mistake nonetheless.
There's still to this day an open Family Video rental store in Pittsburgh. $1 for 5 nights. Truth be told its actually kinda awesome. I go out of pure nostalgia.
9:22 The two titles I remember the most from lulz browsing the adult section were Splatman and In Deanna Jones. And that video store was the only place I ever saw the adult NES titles, Hot Slots and Peekaboo Poker.
My local mom and pop store would actually photocopy the video game manuals and put the copies in with the games, so they'd never get lost. If you kept the instructions they just made another copy.
I can't believe you guys didn't talk about renting VHS and copying them. My dad had a friend that did it for us all the time. 3/4 of my movie collection growing up was copied from movies we rented. It was the pre Napster, lol.
A therapy place took over the store where I live. I go in there a couple times a week to relive the memories. The people there always want to help me for some reason.
Every Friday night I could have one friend spend the night, moms would take us to Little Caesars Pizza then to Blockbuster where she would get a new release movie and we (my bro and I) were allowed to get one video game each. Those were the best days ever!

You're a legend.
Best one yet love nostalgia critic and cinema snob and James !!
Oh wow, Cinema Snob, haven't seen him in ages
And Doug Walker?
Fuck Doug walker

@@adj789 he's a fucking scum bag
GingerlyNutHars More what exactly did he do? Honestly curious
"Foreskin Gump" and "Honey, I Blew Everybody"! LMFAO!!!!!

'Mrs. Assfire'
@@Davidweedlove no he didn't these are real movies
By far one of the best and most enjoyable videos any of you guys have ever made!!
Good memories. Growing up in Connecticut We had a local place called "Real to Reel" video in mid 1980s. Then I remember the video store in Stop and Shop grocery. Mid 90s we had a local place called "Tommy K's" video.
I'm a 1999 kid but I still remeber going to rent DVD movies (And when I was really a child, VHS tapes!). My cousins still owns one somehow.
I never thought, that i could enjoy a commercial.^^
Cinemassacre, Cinema Snob, Nostalgia Critic and Underbelly in the same Video Rental Store
There's a joke in there, somewhere...
@@jupreindeer Something something most ambitious crossover in history
@Turd Ferguson Oh, he does MORE than just being the "Angry Video Game Nerd."
Turd Ferguson I knew him as the Angry Nintendo Nerd.
"It's like Edgar Allan Poe's shit, where you have this videostore nightmares and you build one in your goddam basement" lol
I love Cinema Snob's point at 22:00! You'd still watch the film you rented, regardless! Unlike my Netflix queue that sits untouched unintentionally, LOL! Nailed it!
I remember going to blockbuster, those were the days
@irish rover true
When you were an infant?
True..,😎
@@Darqboii yep, im just familiar with it cuz I used to go there
@@Uncle_Tre back in the early 2000s
When I was a kid we used to go to a video store in Midlo Illinois called the house of video right next to it was a Little Caesars Pizza so you going to order your pizza then you get your 3 movies for like a week and then you go home at on Saturday with pizza and. three movies
Well now i feel old for having to reminisce about video rental stores. RIP Blockbusters.
i worked next to a blockbuster i could go there anytime i miss that.
6:53; As a youth I went to the video store to rent "The Evil Dead" based on my friends talking about it, but I forgot the title and rented "Dead Alive" instead. I kept waiting for Bruce to come on screen, however I enjoyed the mistake nonetheless.
I think the guy from GoodBadFlicks would be the perfect guest for this show
I’ve still never seen his face
Has he ever made a face reveal?
@@Baezzer0 Never. But if he ever does, it's gonna be cool.
Three of my favorite youtubers all together in one video? Great!
"Honey I Blew Everything" killed me.
I think it’s a Married With Children joke movie that dude just stole, same with Foreskin Gump
I rented FF6 from a local video store until i beat it, then i bought it from that store when it closed down.
:')
Awesome
Me too!
The circle of life.
I got a ps2 and dragon quest 8 :)
Cinema snob looks like a white spike lee
David WhatsThatAbout well he is basically
Nah he looks like a mexican David fincher
Fuck you.
and acts like one
he also looks like a midget Doug
My local mom and pop store would actually photocopy the video game manuals and put the copies in with the games, so they'd never get lost. If you kept the instructions they just made another copy.
Thanks for the memories guys. Lots of memories going to blockbusters and the smaller local video store picking random movies. I was born 1975.
Cinemassacre - you guys are one of my oldest and most favorite subs. You guys can't do anything wrong in my opinion. You are untouchable.
I rented games from a local grocery store.
Haha! That's funny!
"Why is it brave to eat a hot dog?"
That’s hilarious 😂😂
Every Friday night I could have one friend spend the night, moms would take us to Little Caesars Pizza then to Blockbuster where she would get a new release movie and we (my bro and I) were allowed to get one video game each. Those were the best days ever!
