  • Video of the major modifications I've done to my 1994 LN106 Toyota Hilux!
From the day I picked it up, until it becomes the off-road weapon it is today.
The build process was as enjoyable as actually driving it.
    Mod list
    Brief rundown
    Motor:
It’s got the 2.8L in it thats been turboed with a eBay spec ct20 oil leak edition turbo hanging of a surf manifold pushing a mellow 18psi. Still really slow but makes cool noises 😅
    Anti roll over additions
Wide track conversion front and rear. So it’s got a n60 rear diff housing with axles and n60 handbrake cable. Front has ifs hubs with hub spacers.
Running a u bolt flip kit front and rear
    Tyres
Nitto trailgraplers 33x12.5x15’s on a dynamic soft 8 -22 rim
    Or
Nitto trailgraplers 35x12.5x16 on a ally beadlock rim -25
    Front Suspention:
Front has TM fab shock towers mounted to rampt custom reinforced chassis plate, 13.5” shocks, ruf leaves, highsteer, banana shackles, drop hanger, 80 series bumpstops with custom mounts, longer brake lines and an extended long slip front drive shaft.
    Rear Suspension:
Rear has tundra rear leaves with relocated mounts, inversion bar with 12” shocks and 200mm shackles with 80 series bump stops.
Front and rear diffs are fitted with auto lokkers
    4.3 ratio
Kings dominator extreme winch fitted to a tjm front bar with custom made brush bars welded to custom sliders made by Tony at Shires Fabrication.
Transfer case if fitted with trailgear creeper reduction gears, running power into the standard 4.3 ratio diffs. Still running standard g52 gearboxk
Any questions throw them in the comments!
    Happy wheeling !

Depends massively on how they are looked after. They can have issues with wear when oil changes are stretched to 10,000k intervals or it fuel system components are worn and cause it to get hot. A lot of things can shorten their life but I’d expect them to get well over 500,000k’s without being rebuilt if they are looked after

Crazy money: saw a review on the Isuzu D-Max that said it was a good platform to build your 4WD on. Platform..? What happened to buying a capable 4WD like the FJ40?
Is it purchase culture? Buying stuff because buying stuff is fun.
Is it bravado? Not enough to go camping in a nice spot, now we have to drive up a cliff to get there.
Is it car manufacturers shorting R&D? That way, they save cash while you get to spend more money on ya beast.

    • @HaydnKamp
      @HaydnKamp  Год назад

Been thinking wether it’s a lack of talent or knowledge to be able to fix an older 4wd and just have the piece of mind of having a more ‘reliable’ newer 4wd.
Or it’s just the wank factor from having something new and letting the bank own it 😅
