OHHH, MY, FREEAKING GOD!!!!! THIS GAME LOOKS AMAZING!!!!@^@!!!!....If anybody here remembers a little known game that came out years an years ago that was ages beyond anything in it's day...called "The battle of Britain" that was amazing for the day and this looks as amazing(for this day and age), as that was waaaay back in like 1988, I think, and me and my cousin love the Bombing runs you could do and you could switch positions from belly to side gunners to cockpit to bombardier, on the fly it was a flying fortress the B-52 Bombers... great video thanks for the share.

Does anyone know why the Spitfire control stick is essentially a loop with a trigger button as opposed to just being a stick with trigger button? The seems kinda awkward. I have really wanted to know this for years.
"A control stick with a loop at the top was called a "Spade Stick". Generally only Hurricanes and Spitfires had them.
The cockpits on these aircraft were small and it was a problem for the control column to get full travel for roll control. This was solved by making the control column rotate at about mid-stick instead of from the the floor.
Other aircraft didn't use them because the cockpits were large enough to accommodate a normal stick and still provide good leverage and side to side travel.
The loop was there so a pilot could use both hands on the stick to get more lateral force since the effective length of the stick was now much less than a conventional floor mounted control stick.
Pilots found them to be much more comfortable to hold and loop style sticks did also get used some on larger aircraft with conventional floor mounted control sticks."

Is War Thunder flight model realistic? Never played DSC. I thinking to try it. I know that in DSC You need to control more things in your plane but is flying similar to WT?
You don't control the flight with the mouse, which makes the comparsion hard. But even then, they are not similar at all, the handling. DCS feels much better than the war thunder flight model.

For anyone that knows. Is this from the Normandy pack? I am new to DCS and am trying to decide if I should buy the terrain pack or not. Is the purchase a full on WW2 flight game/sim?
No, this was Caucasus.
If you are interested in it, go for it but most of it is just flat.
And no, if you buy the terrain, you only get the terrain. If you buy the assets pack too, you can enter any server that uses units from that pack. If you don't buy the assets pack, you can't join some server at the moment. Planes are also seperate to pay.
Very nice tactics there, FWs are simply faster than the spitfire in a dive, so he makes them overshoot to lure them into a dogfight, where the spitfire performs better. I believe that’s actually how the Battle of Britain was fought and how spits managed to win against the luftwaffe till they figured it was just safer for Germans to boom and zoom, just like so happens in 8:00. Also it’s impressive how long you survived fighting so many planes, good job! 😂

what is your FOV? i bought all the ww2 fighers and 109 and the mustang are fine for me. but the FOVs of 190 and spit is to low for me. i can hardly see the instruments

No, I do not have pedals.
Yes, Track IR is really a change. Not only can you map at least four more buttons to your joystick (if you use the POV hat) but you can also control your view better and smoother which helps a lot when you are flying in formation, have to keep an eye on the enemy or if you refuel for example. In addition, it's after a while much more enjoyable to look around in your cockpit.

Hi man.. wondering if you've tried War Thunder and if so, how does spotting in VR in DCS works compared to it.. VR in War Thunder should have zoom avaliable in order to paliate the low density problem..

A SSD is only for shortening loading times. When I made this video, I had a 980 Ti, 16 Gb RAM and a 4790k at stock speed. In addition, I didn't put my settings to high.
thx i have a GTX1080 (8GB) watercooled and "only" a I7 3770K with 16GB RAM but seetings most on highest level. Resolution 1920x1080 on 24"
It should only lower it to prevent any screen tearing. And your system should be able to hold it at 60 FPS with Vsync.
I don't know if my comment was deleted or what, but I was complaining that these aircraft used Reflector Sights instead of iron sights.
I wanted to point out, that in fact in WWII, Reflector Sights were widely used, so I think this aircraft with this sight system could be considered realistic. Cheers.

I've had similar fights in other games. Sometimes I survive as they shoot off all their ammo trying to get my wiggly slippery ass, other times they get it together and shoot me down.

MarkMash17 you can look around with either mouse or numpad without additional hardware. I use track ir for that though

Sure why not, that Spitfire may lose a Wing and still flies perfectly. Just a Week ago I shot a Spitfires whole left Wing off, when I turned away, being sure it will go down - I got peppered by Guns, I look back - It's the Spit with one Wing! Even funnyer It fired from the non existent Wing Guns as well. Fuck DCS Spitfires! As long as the Damage Model of the Spit doesn't finally get a REALISM Update - I wont fly DCS WW-2 anymore.

As you do with normal server...
press multiplayer and select a server and join
l never fly ww2 planes in DCS but l see some normandy maps full on DCS 2.0 every day.
Now all we need is to get more than 7 real players in WW2, One day.. But not in my lifetime..
Having more than 7 players in a server is pretty common. As a fact, right now there are 14 players in the same server (evenly distriputed on both teams).

The flight sim community suffers from the same exploitation tactics that the sports games community suffers from which is greed by the Devs, I get paying for airplanes, but what I don't get is paying anything more than a reasonable price. This shite has to change.

where the fair when you fight against a planes 2 years above you? I like so much the spit in DCS, but honestly with K-4 is very hard. And you was very lucky here (over the skill in manouvers, of course): anytime enemy shot me destroy the engine or insta-kill the pilot! anyway, nice video

They did many improvements since the released...But yep, dm need some improvements! Remember, a good pilot is a mix of skill, practice and luck :) anyway, If you speak about spit XIV, I think that never will see the lights, but I hope to mistaking...

Razor in that case nice one! What server were you on? Can never find one with enough enemy on it? Plus don’t you fly on Normandy at all?
This sortie was flown on the Burning Skies WWII server before the Normandy map was released. This one is the most "popular" one but as you already found out, not many player fly WWII in DCS. But the server, depending on the time, has sometimes quite a few people on it. I don't fly WWII planes in DCS anymore, I use the other sim for that at the moment, but I may return from time to time.
Razor other sim? I’m guessing IL2? I saw they’d updated it recently so I watched another RUclipsr who highlighted what had changed, and it looked awful! Some of the simple animations weren’t apparent and the enemy AI were awful to the extent that they never attacked you until you shot them, ie if you were head on they’d leave you and then once you engaged they’d break formation and some would go awol!
I can only go with what I saw as I’ve never had the sim. The only other WW2 aircraft I fly are the A2A ones in FSX. Love the B-17 and Mk1/2 Spitfire. Just a shame there’s no combat in the sim. Sorry

And I must say, that sim is alright. It also has it flaws but the AI is still better than the one in DCS. And the thing you mention, I know and experienced some of those things but I must say, those are tiny things. IL-2 is better in multiplayer anyway...
Both DCS and IL-2 have their flaws but in the end, IL-2 has a better scenario setting and I like it for what it is trying to be.
