I get that this was a testing session but couple of tips just in case: 1) Never get into a tail-chase scenario with bombers. Try to get above them and intercept at an angle - less chance of gunners pinging you. 2) Open fire from much closer. You're wasting a lot of bullets and calling attention to yourself this way. 3) Try to aim for a touchdown on the threshold - leaves more space in case you bungle up the descent and/or come in too fast. Also, try to go for lower speed and a near-stall touchdown - less chance of bouncing. Cool flying otherwise - this sim looks stunning and keeps getting better and better...
1) They don't have too much guns facing directly back, so it's not as bad as you think. Especially in a plane like the 110, doing Yoyo or run-by isn't going to work out too well. 2) They already know i'm here so... Also, I just need a lucky hit from the distance to the engine and then they will slow down, so I can pick them off more easily without getting too close to the other bombers. And it's not like the 110 has enough bullets. 3) I made the base a bit too short, which is why it ended up like that.
@@Razor_Sim agree with 1). The BF-110 doesn't need to do the yoyo thing and if you go fast enough the gunners won't usually hit you. Although, I usually go way faster and fly past them. I agree with milan on point 2 though. You open fire way too far for no reason. Get under 200-250m and you're guaranteed to do serious damage.
@@kungfuchef8500 There is a reason to it why I am doing it, actually more than just one. 1) Rusty aim 2) Using the 7.92 only for the furthest shots. With those you can 2 A) Snipe the gunners 2 B) damage the engines 3) Shooting from far so i am less likely to be targeted by more than 1 bomber 4) If I hadn't shot from the far on that Tempest, it would have bothered me later 5) Hearing the guns is kind of satisfactory. 6) This way I had the best results with. I tried this mission many times. Getting close was the worst thing possible to do.
@@Razor_Sim No, Milan is correct. You need to climb above your target and attack in a steep oblique dive. Shoot at much closer range (250--400 m), then climb away after diving through your target and reset. You also need to put some more effort into developing your deflection shooting. Dead six shooting will get you killed.
Just waiting for one of these games to go on sale. Hopefully they put this damage model on all the new IL-2 series. Battle of Stalingrad, Bodenplatte, etc., etc. Lovely visuals.
@Kit Kefner No, you can play with keyboard (and mouse). At least a joystick is heavily recommended though. Throttle too, Rudder pedals as well as head gear are optional, but make the experience nicer.
Kit Kefner You can but it’s not practical nor fun. Get at least a joystick, I would recommend a VKB Gladiator Mk.II. It has more than enough buttons and it costs only $90. “Head gear” I suppose you are talking about TrackIR and VR. You can play without them but should definitely get one once you can. I would recommend you to buy DelanClip Gamer or another alternative since they are only about $50 compared to $150 TrackIR. You don’t need pedals just yet. There is a twist axis on a Gladiator so you can yaw with it. Get pedals some time later. I would recommend CH Products pedals since they are very simple, budget friendly and most importantly, very reliable. Search for some reviews on youtube about the products I just mentioned. Hope I helped :)
That might be because I have very limited knowledge about building missions in IL-2. But then again, I didn't see any reasons why they would just fly behind me and not shoot...
Is there a trick to approaching from the six while avoiding the tail gunners? I’ve been watching videos on this and in each video the pilot approach’s on the direct six and doesn’t take damage. This doesn’t reflect the way it is in game, where you can only make slashing snapshot attacks or youll be shot down.
1) I haven't messed with the skill level of the AI 2) It's my own mission, so some things might not work 3) Description 4) I was not alone, so escort was probably busy with the others. But still, you can see them in the video.
What your video actually shows is not only is the AI in IL-2 terrible, but so is the damage modeling… It took multiple passes to knockout a bomber in WW2… You don't kill one by flying into its tail turret and flaming it in one pass. If any of that BS was realistic the war would have been over in a week… BTW no B-25s flew over Europe. That would have been the B-26s and they flew missions within escort range of P-47s and the BF-110 would have been meat on the table to the Thunderbolt…
Well... The amount of passes needed depends on the hits and strategy. AI gunners indeed kinda suck I guess, that's why he wasn't forced to make fast passes with short, inaccurate bursts, he could actually give himself ages to adjust aim. Planes might still be a bit oversensitive to gunfire in Il-2 but it is hard to gauge that correctly without simulating each and every atom of the game world with the correct values. No computer is capable of that, nor does a developer f#ckin live long enough to get it fully 100% right. lol
The damage modeling on that B-24 is waaay underpowered... The 24's could take tonns of punishments yet they are being taken out with 2 second pul on the 110 trigger... LOL You'd think after almost 20 years of game development IL-2 would have it mastered by now.
at the same time, we're doing virtual piloting without putting our lives at risk. We spend hours practicing on this sim and our shots are usually spot on and we don't care if we get shot a bit. I'm pretty sure fighter pilots of the past were way more scared of dying than us and I'm certain aiming these guns IRL is much harder than in a sim where everything is comfy and consequences free.
You'd think someone going out of their way to leave a stupidly critical comment would at least get the plane correct. Yeah B-24's could take a ton of punishment. These aren't B-24's. Go away. This is plenty realistic.

Razor yeah getting close is getting pilot kill for no reason, especially with 110 gunnery, stable platform with punch and ammo you can play long

That was a nice sortie. A kill scene from the bombers outside view would have been the icing on the cake.
i know it's quite off topic but do anyone know of a good place to stream newly released movies online?

@Gatlin Thatcher Thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service =) Appreciate it!

Almost bit it with that wing flap. I was waiting for that clink and a rotating horizon. Whew!

The damage model is for all planes in this series.
They are on sale now, go buy them

Kit Kefner try a bit of war thunder if you haven’t already. It will give you an idea.

@@Razor_Sim the bots in this game are just this bad not your fault probably

Well, you could say the trick is to kill the gunners of the bomber, then you can approach from direct six without getting shot...
@@Razor_Sim I’ve been wondering about trying to do that.
The trick in the game is you set enemy AI to novice level so you could make this pathetic video and not get your ass shot off.
Some nice 110 action there !
Virtual Pilots harmed in the making of this video
Fortunately the AI of the opposing bomber aircraft is weak and there are no escort fighters in sight. Otherwise things would be quite different.

Sorry Razor but that is BS. That 110 would have been shot to hell attacking into the tail turrets of a formation of bombers. 🤦🏼♂️
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Love the video Razor. Is this mission available for download???
Not so far
Loved it
No enemy fire?
Shot like a shooting gallery! The level of difficulty for beginners!
great video. you must have had about 3000lbs of ammo on that mission lol
110s have a ton I guess
Need some heavy bombers in this game
Yeah, like B-24 or B-17
That's some shooting, bruh
AI bombers never behave like that for me. Are you using any mods?
No.
It's a custom made mission, not a quickly generated one
He is full of BS… AI turned down across this entire mission… Why else would the Tempest not have blown him out of the sky?
Its such a powerful fast plane. Cool
The 110 was neither…
Running any mods?
No
No he just has the AI set low so he can be a big man in this pathetic video.
you know your rear gunner can re-load your cannons?,as was done in real life.
The G didn't have this anymore.
上手い‼️上手い‼️ではあるが、命がいくつあっても足りない、これが戦場かも知れない‼️
Right, I agree with you....
sounds like my lawnmower.
