Do you know if the 360 exp/min is gained from turf wars being 3 minutes, or if they also counted the time before and after matches (which isn't time spent waiting and is fixed)? I want to know so I can calculate the amount of time including time not spent playing per turf war match. Right now I'm just doing that using (3×360)/(3+x), where x is the average minutes not spent playing for each turf war match, but if the 360 figure includes the amount of time it takes for the intro and outro of turf wars, than that formula is going to look different.
Really cool video! Now wondering, what is the best way to farm ability chunks? Sure you can start your day with salmon run as if you were farming money, but after the last superbonus it doesn't gives you lots of chunks per match, which makes me wonder if it's better to level up the gear by online games or using catalog/story mode to try and get these randomly.
I once completed two catalog levels after one match. I did this by winning an anarchy battle which gives me 2500 points. It was also my first win of the day so I received 7500 more points which is 10000 points in total and since you need only 9500 points tot level up your catalog you can upgrade your catalog with only one match. It once happend tot me that I needed less than 500 points to upgrade my catalog so I completed two levels of the catalog which was really satisfying to watch.

At this rate I might actually see a 4th catalog and can only wonder what might have been. Would probably be further along, but also trying to farm scales in Salmon Run. If you're having a bad time in turf or anarchy, doing salmon run can still get you the daily 7500. I ended up having to do that after a losing streak in anarchy
I got through somewhere around half of my catalog in this week alone. I have gotten the dab already and I’m now working on tableturf in my free time whenever I need a break from online play.
I’m currently catalog level 153 as someone that’s been primarily playing Salmon, I’m currently level 16 in my actual level, so I haven’t been playing all that much of Turf or Anarchy, but I did play Splatfest till I reached Ruler +1 🤭
fun squid fact, with the most optimal exp in turf war(win, >=500p, 2x exp, no wait times or dcs) it will take ~3000 hours of turf to get to the max level!
the only criticism of the math in this is that it assumes that a match WILL go for 5 minutes in anarchy where Rainmaker matches rarely go that long and sub-1 minute knockouts are common(meaning around 1K EXP per 50% winrate for 1 minute knockouts) so depending on the game mode available in anarchy, the experience per minute can be significantly higher than the 300/min whereas turf war will always be 3 minutes long meaning there is little variance in it's exp.
I mained the retro specs just like you did in splatoon 2, and I was so pissed they aren’t in splatoon 3! Luckily I’m only about 6 levels from getting the retro framers.
Idk it feels like anarchy is the way to go. I was playing a ton of turf and was getting nowhere on my catalog. Swapped to anarchy and I ran through it quick. You don't need to play a full 5 minutes of anarchy game modes since you can ko before that time. Turf you're stuck in a 3 minute game regardless.
I really wish the catalogue XP from Salmon Run was better, I very much prefer Salmon Run more often than playing PvP modes as I am not a super competitive person (for my own wellbeing.) For how long each run of Salmon Run is.. it just doesn’t feel great how little it gives.
I think either catalogue gear will be available in store later, or after the catalogue has been swapped you can start ordering those pieces from other players
You can buy the catalog clothing items in store. I once bought one of the clothes from the store before I unlocked it in the catalog, so when I finally got to it in the catalog I got money instead.
Seeing equations got me giddy (I love math) but this is so good to know. I already play Cookie Run Kingdom nightly so I might play some Splatoon matches before dipping into that. It is my GOAL to get the dab because I think it's funny
Nintendo did a great job on making the battle pass for this game! Perhaps the first one ever to not require anything but having purchased the game and time. (But pls buff salmon run xp rates)
4:35 "I have no idea what these are" they are sold by marigold, a Goldfish. They are meant to be like gold fish bags. Which in hindsight is messed up but like yeah.
I wonder if the turf war/ranked time-to-complete would swap if you do consider loading and connecting. You connect to more matches doing turn war so you have more down time waiting.
I am curious how the math would pan out including the time to start a battle, the matchmaking time, and the post battle wait. For me, this has been on average above 2 minutes. This would reduce the exp for turf war battles more since they are shorter. Not sure how much of an impact it would make though.
If you do include them than Anarchy might become as good as Turf at a high enough win rate. Like maybe 80-90 win rate kinda thing. Didn't really mention this since it won't apply for most players
@@VaskoGames I made prior comments, but I was dissapointed by the lack of response, however I think this is blatantly untrue because you are not addressing the function of the KO mechanic. In anarchy battles, decisive games end faster, they simply don't last 5 minutes if either you or your opponents significantly outpreform. In a turf war, if one team is dominating by the 60 second mark, and it's clear your team is going to lose, you're forced to play another two minutes of being locked out, and your opponents aren't really having an engaging match either. In anarchy, there's the KO mechanic, so instead of just staying in your spawn for 120 seconds with nothing further to do but splatting you, they dunk the rainmaker and you both get to move on to a closer match. The anarchy player has already queue'd up and now has another chance to win a game, before the turf war player has even gotten out of the match, even though from a practical perspective, both games were out of reach the whole time, turf war forces you to stay in uneven matchups for absurdist periods that you could avoid entirely by playing a more fair gamemode with a KO mechanic. Theres a reason competitive play utilizes the ranked gamemodes, not only because the objective makes gameplay more interesting, but also because it makes play fundamentally more fair, efficent, and less frustrating. Could you imagine needing to spend an extra 2+ minutes losing against teams that sweep you easily instead of being able to move on to your next matches? regardless, a 90% win rate is a far cry from a nessecity for game-resource efficent anarchy play. In fact I'd say for any player that feels like they are "bad" at the game, that loses frequently, would be *better off* in anarchy battles, because it means that hypothetical "Bad" player will not need to spend 2/3rds of their time playing the game in a frustrating state. Close matches might last 5 minutes, but every battle does NOT go all the way, and KOs don't just make your losses more efficent, but your wins too!
i think salmon run should give you 500 or at least 400 per wave, ESPECIALLY seeing how it only levels your catalog --and how its the only game mode thats actually fun to me--

I’m currently catalog level 153 as someone that’s been primarily playing Salmon, I’m currently level 16 in my actual level, so I haven’t been playing all that much of Turf or Anarchy, but I did play Splatfest till I reached Ruler +1 🤭
fun squid fact, with the most optimal exp in turf war(win, >=500p, 2x exp, no wait times or dcs) it will take ~3000 hours of turf to get to the max level!
i love that you do pieces-to-camera in a video game
the only criticism of the math in this is that it assumes that a match WILL go for 5 minutes in anarchy where Rainmaker matches rarely go that long and sub-1 minute knockouts are common(meaning around 1K EXP per 50% winrate for 1 minute knockouts)
so depending on the game mode available in anarchy, the experience per minute can be significantly higher than the 300/min whereas turf war will always be 3 minutes long meaning there is little variance in it's exp.
bro im on holiday for the entire weekend of july splatfest 😭
The results are not so shockingly similar to the money video, despite all the extra factors and different formulas. Good work, Vasko 👍
Lol I have like 2 weeks left and I’m at level 31 so it’s time for the grind
I mained the retro specs just like you did in splatoon 2, and I was so pissed they aren’t in splatoon 3! Luckily I’m only about 6 levels from getting the retro framers.
I also wore the retro specs and I also have the 8-bit glasses so I feel you
This is such a great video. Thank you for all the helpful information!
Thanks for the vid Vasko ❤ It's very helpful 😊
Idk it feels like anarchy is the way to go. I was playing a ton of turf and was getting nowhere on my catalog. Swapped to anarchy and I ran through it quick. You don't need to play a full 5 minutes of anarchy game modes since you can ko before that time. Turf you're stuck in a 3 minute game regardless.
I subscribed!! This was very very helpful! Thank you so much!
“At the very least you’ll make Mr. Grizz somewhat happy!”
Sigh...
I really wish the catalogue XP from Salmon Run was better, I very much prefer Salmon Run more often than playing PvP modes as I am not a super competitive person (for my own wellbeing.) For how long each run of Salmon Run is.. it just doesn’t feel great how little it gives.
This doesn't have to do with exp, but you can get a lot of ability chunks from gear in salmon run if you get enough points
A Sheldon ticket guide would be nice
All for the dab, my friend .....all for the dab.... (thank you)
Thank you 😊
Heck yeah! I was hoping that turf war is the best way to level up catalog!
Splatfest is also great for grinding with drinks due to the obscenely cheap scrub costs.
Thanks! i would want to see a video of a tutorial about cohozuna or big run
In a perfect world, Rainmaker KOs within the first minute would be the most ideal way to farm xp. But we dont live in a perfect world sadly
Seeing equations got me giddy (I love math) but this is so good to know. I already play Cookie Run Kingdom nightly so I might play some Splatoon matches before dipping into that. It is my GOAL to get the dab because I think it's funny
For big run, the splatfest rewards are reversed where if you do normal battles, you dont gain the big run bonus points unless you actually do big run
This was very helpful since I was late to the Splatoon 3 party. I really want that dab emote.
Nintendo did a great job on making the battle pass for this game! Perhaps the first one ever to not require anything but having purchased the game and time.
(But pls buff salmon run xp rates)
Just got splatoon 3 today this will help thanks man :)
YESS THANK YOU FOR THIS!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH I don't have a lot of time to play splatoon and I mostly play salmon run, you saved me
I don't care what you say Mr Games, I'm gonna only play Salmon Run to level up my Catalog 😤
Close matches might last 5 minutes, but every battle does NOT go all the way, and KOs don't just make your losses more efficent, but your wins too!
what happens once you roll over to the next catalog? i got to level 100 and harmony said i should get a new catalog. is it just the same one again?
That cat's face best describes my own when someone throws formulas my way.
If I keep losing I play a game of salmon run in order to get the first wave clear of a day
i think salmon run should give you 500 or at least 400 per wave, ESPECIALLY seeing how it only levels your catalog --and how its the only game mode thats actually fun to me--
Great Video! Glad I could help out :)
Thanks again!
I also play like hell during splatfests, so I don't necessarily have to rush myself outside of it
