Ooh! Yep! Professional +1 is the highest I can play before I begin losing due to my weaker reflexes than what Executive VP level players seem to have (judging by gameplay videos I've seen). Well, at least that's the highest I got so far in Freelance mode, considering that as a result of my location, I often get matched to players with Japanese kana nicknames and end up playing a little differently to how they play.
Pro+2 and I confident this is my ceiling which I'm perfectly fine with. My reflexes vary from day to day, sometimes even from minute to minute. Maybe I'll push for pro+3 later but not now with BR so close.
@@hikaru9624 Ever since Spla2n came out, I could never really get past Pro+1. I'd hit Pro+2 occasionally, but I would quickly get yeeted back down a tier or two, so Pro+3 was out of the question. Splat3 galvanized my efforts, but I would still mainly linger on Pro+2, only touching Pro+3 once or twice before getting trounced back down (I play exclusively with randos btw). Finally seeing my goal in sight, however, I practiced harder and made a real push to normalize and ultimately beat Pro+3. Just last week, I got one match away from beating Pro+3 on an older map before getting pushed back to Pro+2 on this season's new map. This gave me confidence, though, and shortly after Big Run was announced, I quickly pushed my way back to Pro+3 on the new map (starting at 40 points, of course). Then, once Big Run started, I managed to hit EggVP for the first time ever, after four very intense matches (two wins, a loss, and another win [I did well enough in the match to not lose points from the loss]). I feel like I may not be able to beat EggVP lol, at least not with randos, but I have some more confidence now so I'll still give it some shots. ✊💪 As for this Big Run, if I get knocked down a tier (which is likely), I may try to stay at Pro+3 in order to maximize Egg Collection.
What I am getting worried about Big Run with is that as time goes on, fewer and fewer casual players will be playing meaning higher egg counts, even outlier amounts, will be weighted more and more heavily in the final tally thus making it immensely more difficult for others to reach the top 5% or even top 20%.
Excellent advice as always, I wish everyone luck on getting the score YOU want for yourself. It's true that I'm not crazy on competition, but I think it's important to take a look back about why big run is so exciting anyways. I don't speak for others, but come on! We're not excited because of a locker decoration, we're excited for playing salmon run on a specially reworked pvp map! What I really mean is, remember to enjoy this event for what it is, not let the bonus prize distract you TOO much from that :)
I know this sounds kind of unrelated to salmon run- but it really helped me. Learning chargers is really helpful for getting better at salmon run. It can improve your aim and reaction speed, and ability to move the camera quickly. Especially helps when you get a charger and you are able to actually use it decently to help your team
Keep in mind that Salmon Rib charger plays differently from PvP charger. In PvP, you want to avoid keeping your aim where opponents can see the line for too long. In Salmon Run, the Salmonids don't see/care where you aim, so you can aim directly at them while you charge and get them all in a line for pierce
I did the calculation during the first big run and lowered myself to Prof+3 for the event. It's good for teams in vc as Hazmy said, but if you're playing solo queue, from what I've observed it looks like EVP 300 seems to be somewhere nearer to optimal
Great vid as always! I'm really excited for the Big run to start, is my favorite event/mode in all the game and this video hyped my excitement even more. Also I think another important detail that at least I consider is important to mention during big run or any random rotation is how well you can adapt to different scenarios. You can't just expect to play a random rotation and only get weapons your used to use and complain when you get a weapon you're not good at and lose because of that, that's not a reality. You should be able to adapt to any weapon given and try the best you can. Another thing I usually do is see what weapons we're given and see what the team needs, for example if you're teammates get all slow, heavy high dps weapons and you're the only one with a good inking and high mobility weapon, you should be inking for them so they have it easier time to take down more bosses faster. I know this should be common knowledge for most of the people and could see as a dumb comment but in my way to 999 vp last 2 big runs, I found myself in low VP freelance with a lot of things like people trying to kill a stinger with a charger, rollers not protecting the whole team of smallfrys during grillers or weapons good at clearing lessers ignoring them
yes people, pleaaase help ink the ground for your teammates 🙏 like if a hydra, dynamo, etc. is with me at the shore, i make sure they've got ink at their feet so they can head back to the basket safely
Going to try with randoms again. I have a few friends that I can play with but we've only reach to 70s or 80s, while on my own 100s. 😭 Once I get at my goal I'll play for fun and grind for scales
Dang I’m pretty early Also I’m super excited for this Big Run with all of the special features it has this time around, AND I’ll finally be able to play it fully in peace since I usually would have to go on a trip out of town or something half way through the big run like the last 2 lol
I'd love to play this with my friends but they don't have splatoon 3 :( Edit: I thought the snatchers on junction were as useful as Marooner snatchers. Also you forgot this very Important tip! Have fun during Big Run! On a more serious note if you find yourself getting stressed and angry at a bunch of randoms. Take a 5 minute break, have a cup of tea and sit out side for a bit or something and just relax a little.
U know one tip i would give people is how u collect eggs. Like most people just sit at a place and wait for inktank refill to throw the next egg while they could also just swim it to the basket depending on how far u are away. Like haz did it wrong by just squidrolling imo if u optimize it. SR highscore are kinda rng tho bc u need luck with boss spawns thats why i would recommend higher hazard lvls. Like i havealways resetted to evp 200ish last big run but got my highscore by just casually being at 600ish due to getting more experienced players to play with in freelance. Tried the pool too but that was just tilting bc people didnt care about luring, etc. Like i agree on most what haz says but u have to adapt to freelance by grinding higher to sort out the bad players.
I managed to score 150 eggs on friday playing with randoms, got a very awesome team and I managed to get a great score, these tips were very helpful as well, this will be my first 5% w and I couldn't be happier! Really great stuff man!
There was a shift where my team got 55 eggs in the first wave and 44 in the 2nd. But we fumbled during low tide on the 3rd (22/30 eggs). 121 eggs total, but I'm sure we could've gotten past 140...
So far I got to Eggclusive VP 200 with 123 eggs, I just wish the game didn't keep turning into Smash Bros Brawl online with how many enemies on on the map at once
😅 I've never gotten above Profreshional +2, I didn't even know the titles changed. The Snatcher point was good, though! I never noticed they always come from the same direction, nor that they went straight back, so that's gonna be a big help for me! Thanks for this vid!

In the first big run I got in the top 5% and in the second one I got in the top 20% percent and this time I'm aiming for gold yet again, now only if I was able to use discord
Nice tips. They would help me get a higher score. However: mid tide mothership 3x Gcharger has more weight than preparation. I got it once and got 71 golden eggs while kind of messing up at the end. No amount of tips could get me a better score if I simply never got any wave like that

I got over 150 by getting a single mid tide mothership wave with 3x grizzco chargers, on freelance. Had two fairly average waves before. (30-45) So I don't think you're getting gold from 141.
@@expiredcheese9047 and not anyone noticed how much charger type weapons are given? I could've sworn 60-70% of the weapons assigned are charger class weapons, I got so many times when the team has 2 or more charger class weapons in a wave.
Won’t be a problem for me because I’m pretty sure I’m cursed with bad randoms. Every time I’m 10p away from eggcecutive VP I get put with randoms that think they’re playing a casual PvE mode where they don’t have to play and throw multiple games on round 1
definitely doable. I did it twice now but you need to be very good Salmon Run player. I would say you need to be at least be able to play at around evp 400. Don't forget that it also depends on luck on weapon/waves. What Hazmy said in the video just keep grinding.
I don't think the advice to play with a single team throughout the event is good for a lot of people. My friends are all more casual than me, and recruiting randoms online also was not as successful as just freelancing in EVP as there always ended up being people in lower ranks joining, which is awkward to say no to. Maybe if your friends are all highly skilled players it will increase your egg count, but that certainly is not the case for me.
Grind includes time you can spend on the game to improve. People who play fighting games do this all the time and may have very limited schedules. The key is to play an amount of time every day/week/month/year as you can. The more consistent the better. Even if it's 30 minutes to an hour that's better than only playing when you reach your superbonus then bailing out to the next rotation. You can improve in Freelance despite what people say. It requires you to look and observe your own gameplay to improve (decision making weapon knowledge adapting to your teammates and etc). I started SR 6 months ago and achieved 9's on a map as well as reaching Hazard Level Max and clearing it. If I can do this, so can you.

@@mon0lin To be honest, insulting the Freelancers literally does nothing. One person can make the difference. I used to think the same way until I just kept playing and realizing one person can stop a scenario from going out of control 90% of the time (the other 10% is a combination of bad RNG and everyone messing up so much the shift becomes unsalvageable). I exclusively play Freelance. The problem is the skill levels are all over the place. and this is usually the problem for alot of people, not that players are "bad". The current Big Run map is really tough to be fair, and it's also drawing out alot of players who don't normally play so it's going to be challenging in general (regardless on whether you're at high EVP or no).
@@protoman111 I'm not insulting all freelance players, just the ones that are literally brainless, for example: Teammates that rush to the shore to kill steelheads when there's around 20 eggs sitting on the basket where I have been obliterated by flyfish. I started SR 6 months ago and achieved 9's on a map as well as reaching Hazard Level Max and clearing it. If I can do this, so can you.
@@protoman111 if only it was possible to carry those brainless freelance players, I got 136 as my highscore and beat xtrawave, then proceeded to fall ALL the way down to profreshional 1 because they couldn't stop throwing ;-;
I'm a solo player as well, I have no friends :(
@@mon0lin To be honest, insulting the Freelancers literally does nothing.
I've met some really cool freelance players myself, but it makes me want to jump headfirst into a scrapper when I find a competent freelance team, get a decent highscore, then find out top 5% is nearly impossible to reach unless you have friends who play salmon run, and then slowly descend into insanity as you realize you drop to noob ranks to achieve a goal that isn't even possible in the first place
Cant wait to drop 5 ranks because my teammates are killing themselves to get 1 more egg when all I want are golden scales
