I appreciate the mentioning of how the splatanas aren’t the most easy to pick up and play weapons for people, because that is very true for me as I struggle with them. So the Mint seemingly being an easier to pick up and play with sword is really exciting for me, that and the look so cool!
i guess i'm kinda unique, then again i went from inkbrush to wiper so i think going from one rush weapon to something i use as a rush weapon is... yeah, pretty not hard
I think the worst part of the weapon is honestly how if you mess up and dash slash on accident, you get sent FLYING into the enemy team with no way to cancel out of it, it's like zipcaster in that way, where if you zip too close to somebody but don't kill them you're locked into that decision, and it really acts as a fair counterbalance to how strong the slash is when you DO land it.
i gotta be fr. i think nintendo has done a REALLY good job of making the new weapons feel balenced and fair to fight against so im personally not really worried that its gonna “break the meta” or whatever people are saying on twitter.

People are always scared of one shots and the video showing it off is made to show it's strengths so yeah something with a one shot that doesn't have an immediately noticable downside its gonna be assumed to be broken
People don’t like one shots because of how laggy the game can be, dying to essentially nothing only to be shown a one shot weapon that is no where close to you makes people annoyed.

Something else worth noting: it seems to have lower object damage multipliers than every other splatana (at least on brellas). One charged projectile would be enough to destroy a recycled's launched shield in one hit on any other sword since they have a 4.8x multiplier but decav needs a charge plus uncharged hit to destroy it. Its multipliers against other objects are probably also lower

Not having zip, not having the vertical for ledge peeking, not having instant aoe without line of sight, makes it significantly weaker at play making and displacement than stamper, which is a big part of why you pick the weapon to begin with esp in pencil meta For that reason I think under the BEST of circumstances, it'll still be worse than Stamper assuming a high skill level. The max range may be less but the range of the one shot is actually longer and obvsly wider than the other swords, and def farther back than where like V Roller needs to be since that has a similar width hit box. I literally thought of this weapon as a 3rd splatana weapon before it was announced. The large ink trail, charged horizontal, and long dash. But I crossed it out of my head cause I thought it would be too broken. Now, here we are.
4:06 why does it kill slower than stamper? I get the ink efficency but it looks like it's charge time and projectile speed are pretty much the same. I would even say kill time is better on this one since hitting with charged vertical shots is more difficult and you are more than likely to miss some, while in this case you don't have to worry about that since it's more consistent.
Kinda what I've been thinking about since the showcase video came out, I feel like this kinda is the clash blaster of the class, but to a way lesser degree, and also it's still the splatana class so it's not gonna be unga bunga, but at lower levels, people will complain about it, while at top level it'll be healthier. I'm glad that it can support and playmake a bit more as well, and I'm really looking forward to both kits, although the jet one especially, I dropped ballpoint a while ago so I haven't been playing jet for a while, and now I can actually enjoy myself doing so
the hidden downside of this weapon that no one will feel until like 2 months in is that people will learn to flick you even at a slight off angle. your options to get the insta kill dash against a good enough player is to shark them at a 90 degree angle and these maps do NOT allow that at all.
Got a cavity in one of my back teeth years ago that was so painful and large I couldn't chew on the right side of my mouth for a couple years. Luckily it's a back tooth so people can't see it and I don't asked about it. Dental hygiene is important, those two years were miserable having a constant sharp pain in my mouth.
i appreciate the vanilla decavitator because as a jr. main, im not afraid to admit that they basically gave us a version of jr. that (still) may not be able to fill a slayer roll, but at the very least can skirmish a tad bit better and defend itself easier to reiterate what Chara said, while decavitator’s kill time/potential isnt the quickest/highest in comparison to other splatanas, i still think in 8 out of 10 cases it’s a step higher than jr. (whom i love) and thats enough for me to dedicate myself to maining it next season
i think this weapon is similar in a meta stance to the painbrush, it probably won't break the upper 25% of gameplay but for causal players it's a nightmare
I'm noticing two levels of charge slash in the video that I don't see anyone talking about, holding it for a bit charges it, but there's a further charge level with a flash and a sound effect that supposedly does something different. Maybe more damage? More range? Wider hitbox?
What annoys me is it seems to be the same speed as a flick from normal roller except the damage is actually consistent. I mean really the reasons to pick roller are becoming even smaller
If midline-centered metas truly are the best ones then having another strong, but not overpowered option to push the game in that direction can only be a positive thing
idk why but I keep comparing it to big swig since they have both have wacky ranged hitboxes and one shot potential. Perhaps this weapon is meant to assist in team fights instead of being a 1v1 weapon like the other 2 splatanas, maybe this can be a splat roller trade for people who wants a weapon that can fight in bubbler well but can also actually poke outside and still do some damage
Not really, rollers were not in discussion because this weapon class does not compete with them, especially this one. Rollers are good at ledge peaking and sharking which is not how any of the splatanas play. This weapon is most similar to dread a slosher, wiper to inkbrush, a brush, and only stamper is most comparable to a roller being carbon deco. And carbon deco has been fine in comp alongside this weapon since its release. Rollers will be totally fine.
Despite the inevitable nerfs, and downsides like ink consumption, I will still love this weapon because of how fun it is. Passion can be better then meta imo
So….. is wiper still viable? I’ve been playing since it was d tier, and it just feels nice to me, but I don’t want to get stuck one-tricking an only mediocre weapon.
Imo, it is map and mode dependent. If you wanna compete and play at the very top level, wiper is not worth playing in zones, and ultra stamp needs some serious buffs to make the wep a viable frontline. Wep stats are insane and torpedo is hella nice, but there are more consistent options right now
>It's got about the range of .96 Gal ...In what is essentially a roller with no damage falloff, no commitment, quick slash for mobility and range and a dash to gain ground on opponents in ways literally nothing else can. It's going to be an absolutely insane 1v1 weapon with the advantage states it seems to exhibit. And it's an excellent inker to boot! Imagine if something like H3 was this effect-dense, even in its prime when it was one of the best mains around it could do less than this thing with more effort than this thing. Funnily enough, I feel like it's gonna get hard countered specifically by Squeezer. But so are a lot of other small to midsize slayers.
i dont think its gonna be that good, people are gonna complain for the first week because its a new weapon, but it cant ledge peak like stamper and has shit ink efficiency.
@@HeDronHeDronHedron peeking will find a way, there's nothing really special about it from technical perspective and many other guns can do similar things (obviously things like shooters do it less effectively because of continious firing), but even if not, it's still got a lot of blatantly overtuned qualities. Nevertheless, I feel like it'll be in the exact same spot Wiper and Ballpoint are now, a powerful weapon with big strengths that is nevertheless not a common pick solely because the rest of the meta is hostile to it. Stamper can not just coexist with but outright dispose of both Snipewriter and Squeezer, Wiper can coexist and Ballpoint can't even do that, and I feel like Decav will join them in the camp of "will be much stronger when/if they nerf the odd two out mains and specials into the ground".
@@TheLaXandro yeah i think it will be good but not like pencil good. i dont think anyones gonna be saying "Well I could pick X but decavitator can easily destroy it". They could completely revert ballpoints rng nerf, nerf pencil, and it wouldnt even be that broken. I think decavitator is gonna be the same
It’s definitely going to be a slow TTK compared to many other weapons, but I think it’ll be hard to deal with solely because of that ridiculous paint output it has
@@freuner-merris Yes, exactly. My comparison was that, unlike a roller, which primarily sharks under ledges, since the charged slash is horizontal, this sword's strength will come from its ability to "shark" (peak) around corners and cover.
This is just convincing me once again that Stamper is what needs a nerf lol. Its range and use cases are insane. This is like the “easier” but less good version
The thing that I’m going to hate is a lager hitbox with a one shot all the laggy kills this thing is going to get is going to make me mad. I already hate blasters and chargers for laggy unjustified kills and now this. Can’t wait to swim out of its range only to still be killed by it.
We have datamined info in the games earliest version (1.0.0) stamper exists and wiper doesn't, which includes when they were designing the alterna levels. Wiper was prolly added and shown first over stamper because of how hard it is to use. Every base weapon in the class is made to be an introduction to it and statistically in events like the random weapon challenge, stamper has crazy low win rates. The version of the game we have on launch is NOT 1.0.0, wiper is the light version of the weapon but it was changed to be the first one you unlock. This is also why Stamper is the default Splatana in Side Order. My whole point about that statement was to talk about why the devs prolly wanted to add an easier splatana to the game and why I think its a good idea.
I think this weapon is meant to be an easy sword for newer players. Looks to have a lower skill floor and ceiling, making it satisfying and easy to use at shorter ranges while at the same time not being as flexible as its wiper and sword siblings. This thing is good at fighting midline’s on ground level, but if you change height slightly it definitely struggles. Ultimately, I’m glad there’s a splatana that is meant for weaker players. It’s like tri slosher or big swig, not meant to be the absolute best but can still be fun and even used situationally at higher levels because of their consistency.
roller ledge camps and sharks which does have aoe and ledge camping, this weapon does not, they do not compete with each other and in fact this wep is prolly a p good teammate for most rollers since it paints lines for them.
Yesn't, it's still gonna be your usual progression curve with ups and downs, lower players will learn to hold on to dash slashes anywhere with 0 awareness and also not try to hit people in such a manner as well So this weapon has good teaching potential in my opinion, though I SINCERELY do hope people won't start saying "STOP USING THE DASH ALTOGETHER" a bit after release because this tend to be a trend in games for options like these, when they still have utility
Honestly I disagree. I think that the new kits will enable it to approach and deal with midliners it would usually struggle with. It's got incredible paint output as well, meaning it will get a lot of inkjets and bubblers. I can see it's downsides, but ledge peaking is map dependent and it's ink efficiency can be alleviated with Ink saver main. I see immense potential with this weapon.
its probably good but not broken. i still think this is gonna be a heavy edit situation where people find out the weapon isn't bigswig levels of shit so they whine and cry for nerfs until someone actually figures out how to beat it
It's odd seeing the community reactions when weak vs. stong kits/weapons are put in the game. People will always complain about something. Best you can do is just to play the game and enjoy yourself, no matter what anyone says
No rusher saw this video and got concerned. Plebians ruin games, so many more weapons in this game could be powerful if it werent for "balance"... (Except in the cases where the player base is full of normies maining the same type of weapons available in any shooter, which by default demands that class be generally stronger to be viable more more numerous and even less talented players) Ive given up hope that any non shooter would stand out or even worse, drive the meta. Machine had a good run for what it was worth. (And i also dont include much nor concern myself with competition. For +95% of the player base the "proffessional" tier meta will never matter to us normies.
My own reasoning is that, Judd pretty much hints at it iirc. At the beginning of the game, I used to talk to him, and when he introduces a class to you, he then mentions its main/flagship weapon. He mentions Stamper for the splatana class, and I believe even says it's the medium version of the class, but I haven't checked since, which is almost 2 years, so take it with a grain of salt @@cosmy
inb4 the main weapon is nerfed to shit. Sorry if yall wanted it to be busted but even if its dogwater, just looking at the charged shots screams “nerf my hitbox size please and thank. you”
It not being meta doesn't mean it's not gonna be a chore to deal with. Seeing such a big hitbox just discourages me from playing short range cuz why make the effort of learning to aim when shit like this exists lol. A dualie's dodge roll might not be enough to escape its one shot range. Of course people are freaking out, the game is already full of weapons that one shot you, which at it's core is just unfun. And yeah this'll struggle against higher range like every goddamn short range because of map designs and balancing issues. The thing is the part this weapon's good at looks so easy to achieve compared to the others.

i think this weapon is similar in a meta stance to the painbrush, it probably won't break the upper 25% of gameplay but for causal players it's a nightmare
I honestly was kinda worried new sword was gonna be the next clash blaster with how wide the slash hitboxes are
That blade is going to go very well with the ink saver build I got
I’m pretty decent at splatana wiper, but I tended to play supportively rather than as a slayer. This looks perfect for me!
idk why but I keep comparing it to big swig since they have both have wacky ranged hitboxes and one shot potential. Perhaps this weapon is meant to assist in team fights instead of being a 1v1 weapon like the other 2 splatanas, maybe this can be a splat roller trade for people who wants a weapon that can fight in bubbler well but can also actually poke outside and still do some damage
6:14 thank you chara now a few people might actually realize octobrush isn't skilless omg
Regardless of if it's good or not, this weapon is gonna be really fun
I still swear the charge slash has wider paint then the normal slash
I love the lack of rollers in the discussion.
This is what rollers were meant to be, this is a powercreep to all rollers
Not really, rollers were not in discussion because this weapon class does not compete with them, especially this one. Rollers are good at ledge peaking and sharking which is not how any of the splatanas play. This weapon is most similar to dread a slosher, wiper to inkbrush, a brush, and only stamper is most comparable to a roller being carbon deco. And carbon deco has been fine in comp alongside this weapon since its release. Rollers will be totally fine.
I wonder if mint can shoot around corners like other splatana can shoot around ledges
Wep stats are insane and torpedo is hella nice, but there are more consistent options right now
I really want to see the right side slash of the Minty Acheron sword
>It's got about the range of .96 Gal
...In what is essentially a roller with no damage falloff, no commitment, quick slash for mobility and range and a dash to gain ground on opponents in ways literally nothing else can.
I think decavitator is gonna be the same
It’s definitely going to be a slow TTK compared to many other weapons, but I think it’ll be hard to deal with solely because of that ridiculous paint output it has
I think this weapon will play more like a roller, with less sharking under ledges and instead sharking around corners.
Rollers do shark under ledges, though, since their hitboxes can hit pretty well over them.
@@freuner-merris Yes, exactly. My comparison was that, unlike a roller, which primarily sharks under ledges, since the charged slash is horizontal, this sword's strength will come from its ability to "shark" (peak) around corners and cover.
0:00 "Hello everyone! Welcome to your daily dose of internet..."
Why do the swords have so much range, why does stamper outrange squiffer
Funi
Stamper has a better effective range than Jet Squelcher. Let that sink in.
@AquaQuokka man that's crazy
@@unluckify1yeah but isn't JetS a backline
@theghostcreator776 It is but it feels so wrong to outrange a sniper with a sword
Does nobody notice that Lumeria Hub is a double zone map?
Woo more weapons. It looks good though
??? Wiper was first. It was showcased in the Direct and was the only sword available on the World Premier.
Well at least in solo que it will at least be higher up. I am still hoping for squiffer with a bomb and kraken.
This looks like the thing that would be really good in solo q but horrible in comp
This weapon is gonna be gas in SR
What does roller do against this 😭😭
My issue with it is that it still basically outclasses rollers.
roller ledge camps and sharks which does have aoe and ledge camping, this weapon does not, they do not compete with each other and in fact this wep is prolly a p good teammate for most rollers since it paints lines for them.
“the main example is jr.” bruh .52 is RIGHT THERE
Anyone gonna talk about splatana wiper
Where can you see the amount of times a weapon has one in the random weapons challenge?
stat.ink/entire/event3?event=3&schedule=10
I love using dread wringer as well
Is... this the first ever weapon that can *left side* peak?
Thank god they didn't give this thing zooka
Still looks beginner friendly that was put in 2 years after release lol
Cant wait for this to age like milk
So it's the latest noob slayer?
roller but its longer
Yesn't, it's still gonna be your usual progression curve with ups and downs, lower players will learn to hold on to dash slashes anywhere with 0 awareness and also not try to hit people in such a manner as well
So this weapon has good teaching potential in my opinion, though I SINCERELY do hope people won't start saying "STOP USING THE DASH ALTOGETHER" a bit after release because this tend to be a trend in games for options like these, when they still have utility
12 days late I have probably 200 kills
Honestly I disagree. I think that the new kits will enable it to approach and deal with midliners it would usually struggle with. It's got incredible paint output as well, meaning it will get a lot of inkjets and bubblers. I can see it's downsides, but ledge peaking is map dependent and it's ink efficiency can be alleviated with Ink saver main. I see immense potential with this weapon.
its probably good but not broken. i still think this is gonna be a heavy edit situation where people find out the weapon isn't bigswig levels of shit so they whine and cry for nerfs until someone actually figures out how to beat it
ok but do we really need more counters to short range weapons
poor poor short range weapons poor low tier vshot warriors
It's odd seeing the community reactions when weak vs. stong kits/weapons are put in the game. People will always complain about something. Best you can do is just to play the game and enjoy yourself, no matter what anyone says
op or not she getting 5 starred by me that's all i know
Im at a dilema on whether or not i should play decavitator or custom range blaster as a new main. Help 😫
Why not both?
Because too much grinding having to play both especially since they play differently
No rusher saw this video and got concerned. Plebians ruin games, so many more weapons in this game could be powerful if it werent for "balance"...
(Except in the cases where the player base is full of normies maining the same type of weapons available in any shooter, which by default demands that class be generally stronger to be viable more more numerous and even less talented players)
Ive given up hope that any non shooter would stand out or even worse, drive the meta. Machine had a good run for what it was worth.
(And i also dont include much nor concern myself with competition. For +95% of the player base the "proffessional" tier meta will never matter to us normies.
I’m just another hopeless Tent main lol
8:26 Doesn’t it have a suction bomb?
I love support weapons
why does wiper have longer range than splattershot tho
because itd suck if it had vshot range
because its kill time is very bad so it plays around range and mobility to win fights
I've been waiting for this video😂
Hopefully no smash 4 bayonetta
I don't think there will ever be anything that broken in a multiplayer Nintendo game ever again.
Idc it looks cool
I could have SWORE wiper was first not stamper, am i going insane?
It was first, they just showed off wiper first
iirc stamper is listed first in the code and I think that’s why people say that
@@cosmy no its because it literally was made first, its in the story mode too, but not wiper
@@cosmy ah
inb4 the main weapon is nerfed to shit.
"wah wah i cant adapt"
also i dont think youve played splatans if you think they're easy
@@HeDronHeDronHedron I didn't say splatanas were easy though, i was talking about this particular one. I am admittedly not the top 1 splatana player but i do pick them up from time to time and while they're not baby easy they're definitely not hard.
The post above was moreso about big hitboxes that immediately kill you in general and why people get apprehensive looking at this. If you faced early SP1 dynamo you'd know what i'm talking about
@@akety3570 i mean annoying is subjective
@@akety3570 this is just gonna be a heavy edit situation

Chara, im sorry, but I like Wiper better than stamper, because i feel like Stamper is a bit to slow for my ADHD self, I'm hoping that the MintD is a happy middle ground between the 2
