As someone that is coming from stamper. The decav is very polarizing. While it is very fun and definitely a bit overtuned I do see the charge slash a having faults. It’s very slow and the dash can be gunned down quite easily. Still by the far the most fun splatana though. (As for gear I run comeback qr with a bit of main saver)
as someone who plays vwiper, my thoughts are that: 1) Very fun (but I like wiper more (: ) 2) Ijet and wall synergise with it pretty well 3) Very slow but makes up for that in its damage, hitbox size and range 4) Dash should be a bit faster to charge and use
4:52 I KNEW IT. I KNEW IT I KNEW IT I KNEW IT this is literally what happens every time you fight another splat roller player. you both explode. this is a roller in splatana form
QR + Comeback is definitely the way to go with both *Decavitators* Also, a thing to keep in mind is that *just one sub of Ink Saver Main* will give you an extra charge slash (7 being the default without Comeback); *two of them on the Mint* will give you five uncharged slashes or two charge slashes and one uncharged after throwing a Suction Bomb For my setup... *Hat:* Comeback, 1 Sub Swim Speed, 1 Sub ISM, 1 Sub Ink Resist *Shirt:* QR Main, 2 Subs QR, 1 Sub ISM *Shoes:* Stealth Jump, 1 Sub QSJ, 1 Sub Swim Speed, 1 Sub of either Special Saver or QR
As a Splatana main (mostly Stamper), Decavitator feels like the 52 gal of the class (obviously not as overtuned but still), it's slower, but has very high damage with strong hitboxes and good paint to make up for the shorter range. I don't see it being as good as Stamper was on launch, but it's definitely just as good as Wiper, though spec'd into VERY different stats.
Ik that I'm already late to this but, I do have my opinion on what Nintendo could do to make the decavitator become a balanced weapon. They could actually slightly buff a bit of the charge time of the longer vertical slash because it takes a while to charge it. Also, in my opinion, the best build (that I'm using for the charcoal decavitator) is: Comeback with 3 quick respawn chunks (hat); 1 swim speed-up, 1 walk speed-up, 1 quick special gauge, 1 quick super jump (shirt); 2 swim speed-up, 1 quick special gauge and 1 special gauge saver (shoes)
I rarely use Splatanas but for this set I'd run Comeback, Quick Respawn and because of Inkjet the Drop Roll. If people worry about the Ink Comsumption InkMain and or InkRecovery's always another option
Id say Stealth Jump is better, since you can already use your dash slash after your recall, which is basically like a Drop Roller, but with a massive one shot.
this looks like its going to be very roller-adjacent in terms of playstyle: bad at taking straight fights, but great for sharking and controlling space. i cant wait to play it
2 subs of Ink Saver Main gives +1 extra charge slash. Definitely consider it. I didn't feel like the weapon was slow, but then again I was using it more defensively rather than pushing ahead looking for kills. I think it can be very scary to approach without a long-range option since it paints quite well and aggressors risk taking a very quick 80 damage. And that's on top of getting Iaido'd.
Yesterday I’ve played both decavitators, and personally, I prefer mint, but this is probably because I’m not a good jet pack player. Coming from a person who most recently 5-starred the vanilla wiper, decavitator teaches me to be less of a “go die and distract the enemy team” player. I’m not the best wiper player either, but eh figures. The main thing is that I overall love this weapon so much. It is my second favorite weapon in the series(wiper always remains first)
@@Riodile it’s hard to throw bombs at snipers on certain stages. If you even try the sniper will just shoot you down before you throw the bomb. It’s happened to me tons of times,
The Charcoal Decavitator works really well with ninja swim and some swim speed, I played some games with this setup and it somewhat negates the slow chargeup issues and it can allow you to catch your opponents off guard as long as your movement isn't tracked while having ninja swim.
I feel more like splat roller than dynamo because if you miss the dash hit basically you’re done and the decavitator couldn’t hit opponent behind the wall like bucket or dynamo
As an s blast main, I fell in love with the mint version, as its playstyle is very similar to that of the 91( or at least the way I play it). It’s so much fun and really easy to use like the s blast. I know the second kit is better but I hate splash wall and I can’t use inkjet to save my life. I’m gonna see if I can get it to 4 stars before the end of the week.
The way I see the decavitators, there are two skill caps. The first is the skill cap to using it as a novice. At a novice level, it is pretty easy to use compared to several other weapons, with good paint and a 1-hit kill slash, not to mention the awesome special. However, it has less reach than the stamper, charger, etc and is much slower than the wiper, splattershot, etc. At a novice level against novices it is pretty good if you get the hang of it a bit. But, getting better than that novice level of good is really hard, because some of the weapon’s weaknesses are easy to exploit. It’s slowness means that missing a charge slash is basically a death sentence, the charge doesn’t always kill if the target is far enough away, the lack of vertical slash somewhat limits your options, and splash wall + suction bomb both require good strategy to use well, especially after the wall nerf. Using it well at top level is difficult I think.
For how awkward the combo of splash wall and ink jet is, it oddly works for the Decavitator. I love this and I’ve been using it more than the wellstring (that I was excited for.) plus it doesn’t feel overpowered at all and feels more fair then what the trailer was letting on. However I do feel like it’s gonna get a nerf like what they did with the stamper, mostly the paint since it pants pretty well.
My weapon expectations this season were the inverse of reality, I thought Decavitator was gonna be cracked and that the Wellstring was gonna be a weird hard to use hybrid between Tri-stringer and Reeflux. I ended up switching to the Wellstring after a couple matches of the Decavitator feeling like the Dynamo of Splatanas, and I can positively say the Wellstring is absolutely CRACKED
i’ve been running charcoal with last ditch and some subs of ink saver main, main of special charge, and utility subs (stealth obv too) to go for a passive playstyle for inkjet and being able to be aggressive if necessary with the ink saver for more slashes after throwing a wall
CBK + QR with 2s swim for the bubble kit. CBK w/ SCU, 2s SPU for your jet and swim for charcole. Add your values and SJ in and I use that. I think the charcole kit isn’t as easy to just pick and steam roll with but will probably be better in the long run
as someone that mains stamper and dynamo roller, i have to admit the decav might be the easiest weapon they've added yet. you do barely anything and the entire enemy team gets steamrolled by you with directs you definitely shouldnt have been hitting
When you actually face competent players though who know how to move well it's not that easy. You have to be really good at predicting where people will go, and it's very easy to get punished
@@Chase247 maybe its also a deal of a weapon being new, cause i think the brst solution is just shutting it down since it immediately falls off with range. still needs some tweaking in the damage and range department i feel, but otherwise i assume its cause its day 1. also didnt help we got AOE spammer 2000's in the same update

I haven't taken it into ranked yet, but I've been running this with sub saver for the splash wall. I think splash wall is honestly really good on this thing: it's a much slower weapon with short range, so you can get a ton of mileage from using wall as a way of getting yourself in. The dash slash is such a risky move that the weapon lives or dies by, and if you're positioned behind a splash wall there's not much they can do to stop it.
I've been running main: CB, Swim speed, Stealth Jump, subs: x4 sp. charge up, x2 sp. power up, x1 ink res, x1 quick sj, x1 sp. saver, feels pretty good, get Inkjet craaazy fast! But I see the appeal of using ninja squid after watching your gameplay. Gonna need to try that! At least until I'm used to the way this thing plays. Love it so far!
Haven't played the weapon yet but I can say that I've seen people consistently demolishing teams with it. Once people get used to its range people are gonna fall for it less. You can also jump to avoid getting killed by a charge slash
As a wiper main, I really like this weapon, especially the inkjet one. In terms of difficulty, it feels like it’s in between wiper and stamper. But overall, this is gonna be one of my mains I use. Still a lot to learn, but it’s pretty fun. I’ve only used the charcoal one, so haven’t used the mint one yet, but I’ll get to that after I get 4-5 star charcoal (also I use a comeback QR build)
I think Splash Wall's use cases on Decavitator are to help with its less favorable matchups and fights as mid and long range weapons outspace it. Such as long range shooters, blasters (specifically range), other Splatanas, and most backlines. Wall gives you time to protect yourself as it forces those weapons to respect it due to this weapon's pretty menacing kill options, sort of like how bubble is used on it just to a lesser extent as its a sub Yeah ppl CAN play around (or even shoot around) the wall, but i think that's also a matter of being able to take fights behind AND around the wall, not just from behind Then again idk, maybe the meta will progress and wall is actually terrible on it who knows
I was never a fan of wiper or stamper, something about them just never meshed with me, but playing charcoal decav has been some of the most fun i have ever had playing this game in a while if im being honest.
i do believe this weapon has really amazing potential for teamplay. I love this weapon, personally. I've always loved Splatanas but could never get good with them because I was never good at aiming. So being able to trade vertical slashes for horizontal ones was already a good trade off for me, but the charge slash one shot is also insane, especially with the dash. I'm already dominating turf lobbies with it, although I expect to be humbled once going to ranked. I've been running a CB QR build with 3 subs of Ink Saver Main, which gives you 10 charge slashes when combined with comeback. Although if it's as ink efficient as you say it is, I may swap some of it with Special Power Up for Inkjet.
I tried it a little in Turf War and I'm just so use to wiper and dualies, it was just too slow for me. Of course everyone was playing this and the Wellstringer V, I switched to standard blobbler and I was getting so many kills. Don't get me wrong, some were playing this weapon quite well, but I think it will just take me a little longer to get use to it.
I thought i would continue maining douser dualies in this season, especially after the reveal of the custom kit, but after playing this weapon i feel like im gonna become a decavitator main
I feel like we have a very different definition of slow because I really don't feel that's the case at all. Especially with the latency in this game it feels like even when it misses a slash they just immediately charge another one and kill me anyway. I find it very oppressive to fight against and I'm forced to respect it when i risk taking 80 damage and it covers a fair bit of ground, making it hard to approach in choke points. I could imagine longer range weapons and skillful bomb rolls to be solid counters but I feel like it has a ton of potential to be a huge threat. It doesn't HAVE to be a major aggressive force when practically any form of chip damage from stepping in enemy ink to indirect bonb explosions means I am in danger.
i really love decav!! it's super fun to play, and it doesn't really need much in terms of gear. just some swim speed, ink res, and qsj. i will say though, i personally think the crit range is a little overtuned... it's a little too easy to crit with this weapon. i also think that they're gonna nerf the paint output of this weapon bc it's SUUPER good (for a splatana)
Wonder what it is with them suddenly deciding big hitbox weapons need no endlag now. They should just cut the endlag of clash at this point it wouldn't even change anything.
@@NotSnak and way less than I hoped. Shooters are a bad standard for endlag after their buffs, this weapon is still able to submerge almost instantly after each projectile comes out.
@@harmless9336 theres no way youre legitimately comparing this weapons endlag to shooters. Decavitator is significantly laggier than them by like alot. Im sure it doesnt feel like that when fighting them but believe me you definitely notice it while playing it
@@NotSnak might be confusing a few things but no I'm not comparing them to shooters, nothing should ever again be like shooters are right now. It's startup is not instant but still quite fast compared to actual charge weapons. It's animation time is quite a bit and that's probably what you're thinking of, once you charge slash you are committed to the slash. Then after the attack comes out is its endlag where it is quite low. Rephrasing it it can escape very quickly after it attacks with the charge slash actually feeling like it has less endlag barely than the normal swipes. That's what I don't like, how easily it can escape after attacking.
My only issue for me but this is more a overall issue for the game is for lower level players or people who don’t farm for chunks like crap by playing salmon run can’t fully utilise the weapons full potential

i really love decav!! it's super fun to play, and it doesn't really need much in terms of gear. just some swim speed, ink res, and qsj. i will say though, i personally think the crit range is a little overtuned... it's a little too easy to crit with this weapon. i also think that they're gonna nerf the paint output of this weapon bc it's SUUPER good (for a splatana)
this is gonna be insane for casual players i hope to see it in comp
I come from wiper and I have to say I have work to do 😂
Me too. It felt so weird at first
Wonder what it is with them suddenly deciding big hitbox weapons need no endlag now. They should just cut the endlag of clash at this point it wouldn't even change anything.
The weapon is laggier than you think
Rare footage of Chase not using dualies
I feel like if inkjet was buffed this thing would go crazy.
these new weapons are such a pain to fight against😭
Memories broken
i love wiper but i suck doodoo with stamper. this feels like a stamper i can use LMAO
uhh isn't it mint or it's called that in the uk
I have been using comeback with QR build for the new splatana chase 😊
Yall think if it got 70 damage armor for its lunge attack it would be broken?
Every Decav player I've seen is out for *blood.* 😭
Just look at Splash wall it gets destroyed so fast now in seconds. I think Mint is better with the new buff from Bubbler.
I’m considering swapping out my last ditch effort for comeback actually
Excited to get your thoughts on the new douser Duelies having burst bomb is so awesome
Stampers my main and im absolutely crazy with this weapon
My only issue for me but this is more a overall issue for the game is for lower level players or people who don’t farm for chunks like crap by playing salmon run can’t fully utilise the weapons full potential
Aerospray aaaah counter
the vanilla kit is actually faster then the 2nd kit for my feeling
My first battle of this season had 3 decavitators in the other team 😂😭 but as a nautilus user I was able to take them out like other weapons but it does look pretty good but I don’t use splatanas 😂😂😂
Gonna try to master this weapon 🔥
i almost got 4 stars on charcoal i love it so much
What about wellstring v?
The decavitator sounds similar to another word…
Jetstream Sam
What.
How do you already have art??
Im sorry but speaking of positioning properly when you killed someone behind you at 1:15 is hilarious
What if i like suction bubble b better
I havent played the game for like 5 months but this weapon feels like easy mode. Im averaging 10 kills and 1 or 2 deaths on turf im not even that good the 1 shot range is just that crazy
in turf war it definitely easy. but try taking it into an s+ lobby where people actually know how to move, it wont be so easy
Im running a qr build for this kit
I currently have 71,290 (3 stars) on charcoal decavitator and I love it but mint is trash bc its sub. Yes I hate suction bomb
I feel the mint one is better than the charcoal, idk how
I don’t feel like wall is very good for it, it’s too slow to make use of it like squeezer and 52
It’s so hard for me to use 😞
brush the opponents teeth
Uh oh, you found the toothpaste. Let's get one thing clear, I can brush my teeth all by myself okay
And from today chase threw away his dulie love to come and main splatanas
