You can also take advantage of the splatfest tee whenever you have it. Scrubbing the splatfest tee only costs 2k gold, so you can keep scrubbing the shirt with only the first slot filled. Combine this with an ability drink, you'll be able to get 1 chunk for every 1 win, or 1 chunk every 2 games regardless of result.
this is what I did with the most recent splatfest. it still takes a ton of time since it's 1 chunk every 5-10 minutes, but playing the full weekend for multiple hours each day got me enough chunks to finish out some perfect gear.
I figured this out last splatfest. Very tedious but definitely gets the job done. I wish scrubbing regular clothing was cheaper though farming is hell
I used to abuse this to no end, but unfortunately you do it anymore...
You don't even have to scrub it. It never goes over 7500 to get a new slot so the chunks fall off anyways
@@townofsalme yeah nowadays, but I think this video was before the patch that brought that
I'm glad Salmon Run exists just because you can get 200+ ability chunks
And yknow, its a fun mode
And 24/7 😎
U CAN WHAT
@@wavee5676 sr never closes :v of course the rotations happen like 2 but u no longer need to worry between shift rotations becuz it'll keep going til the next one u can play anytime
@@wavee5676 simply grind salmon run
I can't believe nobody else is talking about that giga-brain play from that Cohock hiding inside Cohozuna and attacking while you were focused on dodging Cohozuna's attack
For salmon run I always stop at 4000 points cause after you reach 4000p, the gap between rewards gets larger. I love salmon run but I don't need to spend hours & hours on getting as much rewards as possible. 4000 points is enough for me
I play Salmon Run very often, probably more than the other modes, so all the ability chunks you get for just playing it really helps out whenever I wanna make a gear build quick and easy
Remember guys when it comes to leveling up anything (includijg catalog), Turf War > Anarchy Battles, but only if you don't feel confident in winning whatever game mode is available. On average turf war gives more xp cause you can lose and still get xp, on anarchy you have to win but you get a bigger win bonus compared to winning in turf war.
10/10 tip
As a backliner in soloq, yeaah, I think im much better off with leveling in turf lmfao
800XP for a loss really isn't that big of a difference. Ranked games can end quickly if you know what you're doing, so I'll still be avoid Turf like the plague, thank you very much.
@@ThatAnnoyingBird By Vasco Games's research, Turf War earns 20% more experience than Anarchy Battle.
But if you hate Turf War so much I guess it's reasonable to sacrifice that 20% for keeping your sanity.
@@azareii some of us arent bad at the game
Here’s a gear farming technique that most people don’t know about. It might seem counter-intuitive, but it works!
When farming a specific ability on gear through turf/series, it’s actually *more profitable* to use the drink that targets the gear brand’s *unfavored* ability!
Think of it this way: gear can roll 1 of three abilities:
1: the favored ability
2: the unfavored ability
3: any other ability
Essentially, if you run a drink that matches the ability that the gear favors, you’re only getting around a 7%~ boost to the existing odds, which isn’t great since you still have better odds of rolling other abilities.
What you SHOULD do is find the brand that disfavors the ability that you’re searching for. This essentially gives you a 33%~ chance for rolling any of the three options.
For example: if you want to farm quick respawn, run ZINK gear with a quick respawn drink!
Have you found a lot of success with it?
@@popsicIes surprisingly yes! Try it for yourself
This doesn't make sense to me. Why is running clothing with the favored ability and the same drink less optimal?
that works if you care about two abilities right? if you literally only care about one surely it's better to just use the drink on the favored brand
@@Temulgeh the idea is that you get more value off of using an unfavored drink than by using favored drink. Your odds of getting the favored ability (at least from what i understand,) are still lower than rolling random ability if you run a favored ability drink.
Until there is an alternative way to obtain sea snails outside of splatfest, Sea snails should *ONLY* be used for leveling up amiibo and hero mode gear to 2 stars (and only 2 stars). I would not bother using them for rerolling gear.
Also once you have 100% the hero mode, you can use the drone to obtain chunks, don't expect it to give any chunks regularly though. There's a slim chance of obtaining chunks, the drone mostly just gives you locker decs. But over time you'll get ability chunks out of the drone. You're still going to want to play salmon run to grind for chunks, think of the hero mode drone as passive income.
What do you mean with drone? Am I missing something out?🤔
@@motsi39 If you get 100% survey rate for every island in alterna, you can utalise the drone which will give you items from the terminal.
@@VGF80 then I have to check that,I've never visited the story mode again after completing it. Thanks for letting me know!
@@motsi39 Careful, It's pretty tedious work, you have to find every collectible and walk over every pixel on the map for the survey to count.
You may as well paint over the entire map.
@@VGF80 I already did that months ago and hit 100% on every map...
2:54 The cohock that emerges from Cohozuna and then gloats after killing you is pretty hilarious.
And if you love Salmon Run (like me), then you just get chunks as a huge side benefit. I’ve got 190+ chunks for every ability (with some already close to 250).
I do play every rotation but I don’t grind the hell out of it. If I HATE the weapon option a I’ll at the very least play to get the super bonuses and one King Salmon fight.
But if the rotation is fun? Some times I’ll go to 10k or more. But I’m a PvE fan.
man i wish i was u rn
@@popsicIes No doubt. I am the pinnacle of human achievement.
For tips with salmon run, hazmy's channel is really good, plus there's a community pool with other experienced players which cuts down on really bad teamates, plus the salmon report that he puts out per rotation is extremely useful in gauging whether or not a rotation is more insanity than its worth
Thank you so much for the tutorial! On top of school and other things I don’t have time to grind like 9 hours a day so this really helped! ❤️
You can also get chucks from Sheldon's Drone in Story mode,+ cash, card packs, tickets, & duplicates of locker decorations.
You can also replace the main ability on a piece of clothing to get 6 chunks back (or 3 of each for special abilities) but it's pretty costly and a net loss on chunks.
It would be nice to see a sequel to this video where we dive into options created by Lean Yoshi's website. Since you can determine the order of ability unlocks on gear and use certain drinks to make sure you get the ones you want, you could do that and scrub your gear. And if players are willing to invest the time and money/snails, getting gear to five starts makes the process faster too. It's not a perfect solution, as it does take a bit of time, money, and possibly several tickets, but at least you can be absolutely certain that you'll get the chunks you want. On gear where a chunk is favored, the matching drink sometimes puts the liklihood of getting that ability chunk to 100% lol
Really well done guide. Gonna be really useful for a lot of people
Splatfest tees are great for farming chunks
wear them use a drink ticket (not for the rng boost. for the xp boost)
Scrub after every win. (you don't even lose money because scrubbing the splatfest tee is so cheap that you get it all back the next round)
Thank you for this!🙏🏼
Thank you for the tutorial I really needed it!❤
sea snails are also best used on amiibo gear
thank you for the vid! I can finally put quick respawn on some of the catalogue gear that looks rlly nice 🙏🙏
Thank you for mentioning about the Salmon Run rewards! I should keep playing that mode because I’m need for a lot of chunks rn
my first month of playing i got 100.000 points in salmon run and about 30 ish king salmons killed and about 400 hours later i made my dream kit (hat, shirt and shoes with pure swim speed/ink resistance/sub saver/quick respawn) i really like salmon run
Wow! Only 400 hours?
Thanks! You’re super underrated!!
I play salmon run daily Everytime the rewards are easier to get I claim em after when the rewards line is longer to get I stop and move to turf
Yo thanks man i really needed this
I Clicked onto this thinking I was gonna get clickbaited and first thing I see and I'm like, HOLY CRAAAAAAP THATS A LOTA CHUNKS
One more desperate method you can do is trade your unused chunks for a main ability on gear you dont care about.
It turns 45 "bad" chunks into 6 "good" chunks. Which is cheaper than turning 10 chunks into 1 chunk by picking off a sub ability.
This method is slightly more efficient if you happen to have 15 chunks of 3 types that make up a gear-specific ability (i.e. item shredder for shoes). Its still 45 to 6 chunks but if you don't care about those 3 types, then its not that big of a loss.
sheldrone (alterna 100% reward) and cipher (buy the whole shop) generate chunks
Nice strat also keep up the good content
Good recommendation but u should have added the point numbers aswell regarding SR. Like farming to 4k points is most efficient regarding chunks bc after 1.2k its always 200 points until new reward till 4k points. After that its always 400 points until u get a reward.
I didn't include that because ultimately it's up to how long the player wants to grind a rotation. 4000 is a long time for many people, I wanted to keep the guide as simple as possible
Also if you didn't like Salmon Run in Splatoon 2, it's a lot more fun in 3 so it's not as bad
Very educational
There is a way to get ability chunks a lot faster. Do salmon run, get ability chunks from that then use the money from that and scrub gear, this makes getting chunks a lot faster
i think you can also level up a cosmetic to 5 stars, because from 3 to 5 stars the cosmetics get more points of experience, so you can get more 3 chunks in lowest time
Found out about method 3 near the end of splatoon2 got extremely lucky and got pure gear for special charge up
Its really good sometime
Especially if you just have randim bear on an ability with none of them being the same
Great video
I don not play Splatoon 3 professionally, but still often, but still struggle to have many chunks at hand.
The reasons are mostly 1. I find scrubbing expensive most of the time, and I spend my money somewhere else, 2. I spend my Sea Snails somewhere else as well, 3. I use my chunks alot.
Guess I'm playing salmon run for 24 hours straight.
Funny that you mention not liking salmon run. I'm a new player (just got the game a few days ago.) and I started doing it and quite enjoy it.
Also just noticed you play splatana and I wanna learn the ins and outs of it better so guess I'll see if you have a guide. Subscribed.
Even if you are not playing Salmon Run on a regular basis it is still the fastest way to gain ability chunks.
In Splatoon 2 you would gain 1-3 ability chunk of each type for a more than 12h session.
Splatoon 3's Salmon Run Next Wave would have already been more lucrative to play if gear was more likely to give 1 chunk.
Instead gear is confirmed to have it's slots filled and the probability to have 1star gear makes getting 2 chunks more likely already thus making Salmon Run Next Wave post 1200 points busted.
An average player would get 1 pink capsule/gear for every 1.5 rounds while Eggsecutive VPs gain roughly 2 gears per session.
Getting 2 gears with at least 1 ability already outweights the amount of chunks gained through Turf War or Anarchy Battle considering the fact that 2nd and 3rd slot require more EXP plus the fee of 20000G (2000 G on Splatfest Tee) while Salmon Run is free.
Liked video becasue you are willing to reroll a PERFECT gear for the video. lol
If you don't care about fashion just do the last one, staring up gear only really matters for amibo stuff cause you can just pay ro increase it instead of snails, and rerolling doesn't really matter if you just use chunks or use your seed
Salmon Run is great, the only problem are the teammates which don't know there weapons, don't killing the most dangerous bosses, made a suicide mission to get eggs at the far end of the map and waste all there specials at wave 1. Thats why I only play to the first King Salmonid and having my 1200 points.
After the 1200 points, you get gear after every 200 points until around 4000 points, after that you get for every 400 points gear.
As a salmon run enthusiast.. this news makes me very happy, but I'm also very upset that I never thought to play passed the initial wave or daily rewards.
Of*
I really need to know how much time you take to make animations look THIS smooth
I don’t play Salmon Run, that’s a reason why I can’t grind for chunks, because I get mad easily at teammates, impossible to grind for 999, because of rage. (I’ve been on break with S3 for a week)
Example of Salmon Run Rage “My Teammates doesn’t know how to play Salmon Run”
I would love to get the fun on SR, I don’t like the scale system, tbh, wish it’s get better.
cohock jump scare at 2:56
it gave me a heart attack
2:54 bold of you to assume that i have friends that play splatoon 3
Bold of him to assume I have any friends at all 😈
Well said
Yeah, I was an absolute salmon run addict once 3 released and got a nice amount of chunks. I've been playing it significantly less recently, and now I get almost none because scrubbing is so much slower and more costly
I do salmon and still don't get the same amount you have.Unless I'm grinding all day non stop every rotation
SR ain't boring to me! I love that mode
3:57 “Whereas with salmon run on the other hand, it costs nothing, except maybe your sanity if you keep getting bad teammates.”
What if I’m the bad teammate 😭
i heard that scrubbing neutral gears like amiibo, cuttle gear and grizzco are kinda like splatfest tees
Salmon Run hates me, though. It's not just my team, it's also the luck of certain waves.
I honestly play more SR than PvP because I don't like the S3 maps. I've gotten into overfishing and joined some discords that focus on Salmon Run and its a lot of fun. The sheer amount of chunks I've obtained has been super useful for when I do play PvP.
i see so many people saying sea snails should only be used for amiibo gear. while true if you dont plan on using amiibo gear like me there is nothing else to use sea snails on
I wish we could trade those damn tableturf cards for chunks. I still haven't even touched that mode lmfao.
"Salmon Run is boring"
"[Salmon Run] It's really not that bad"
*BREATHES DEEP*
BOI.
(JK JK JK love you Chase!)
Why are u so underrated?
another method i use when im desperate is changing the mains on gear i wont ever use like salmon run gear or gear i dont like at all
I had been using method two since the launch of Splatoon two, ha ha. I only have three weapons that I use "one currently" and once I get my perfected fashionable gear I have no reason to use my in game currency and snails again.
I fairly like salmon run I just don’t play it much this gives me a reason to
i got tons during slatfest with ability drinks and ability wipes
for sr grinding honestly i recommend just turning on a podcast in the background
gahh I wanna get the ninja squid ability chunk for my amiibo gear I'm getting soon but I just can't seem to find any swim speed up chunks or drink tickets like what??? also question what happens if you replace a main ability(the big circle) with a different one? do you keep the main ability chunk so you can use it later or like..does it turn into multiple different chunks
It will give you 6 chunks back of whatever you replaced
@@Chase247 gasp, I only need 4 swim chunks..thank you I can finally get ninja squid!!!
I LOVE GAMBLING!
“Just play salmon run”. Oh how many times I’ve said these words.
I'm playing salmon run a lot and I can agree it's the fastest way to get chunks I have around 200-350 from every ability
LMAO GAMBLING ADDICTION IN SPLATOON LETS GOOO
Bro getting ability chunks for just one things takes way to many hours really wish they made it a little more time efficient
Does anyone have any tips for high level tech in EVP? Especially what bosses to prioritize and how, also how to deal with Grizzco weapons- I know I should be slaying with them but the slosher and stringer and splatana are just… confusing for me at times
I play by myself and/or use the sheldrone
i've never beat cohozuna once how are u doing it in one sitting TWICE ?! 😂
89!!!!! THIS GAME HAS BEEN OUT FOR 4 MONTHS
I have a question, what happens when your full ability chunk gears level up? I saw an animation of an ability chuck “falling out” when it’s maxed out but your gear level. Does that ability chuck goes into your inventory or does it just disappear? Idk if anyone get me
It goes into your inventory!
I just want to put super jump up on all of my shoes
i hope you get bigger
Is there a way to get chunks for primary abilities such as haunt and tenacity?
The exclusive abilities require 15 each of three different abilities, so check which ones you need
I have to wait for a new rotation of salmon run, getting one player stuck with a sniper weapon in this sort of game is outright terrible! Then of course I don’t have friends who play Splatoon 3 so I have to play with random. We made it pretty far then it was endless - back to back failures. We ran out of time once and the rest were wipeouts. Again, a sniper rifle is atrocious in this sort of game, you need to be aggressive and you need to help with collecting eggs, so you must keep moving and you gotta keep helping the team paint the floors for faster mobility. You can’t do that very well with a sniper rifle and not get surrounded and overwhelmed
Also the sheldrone can give them
Another tip that's a bit wasteful but say you have like, tons and tons of a chunk you will never use such as sub defense up, you can take a piece of gear you don't care about with a main ability you want the chunks of and trade 45 useless chunks for 6 you really want at that moment by swapping the main ability with uselss chunks. Once again it can be kind of wasteful but I never need more than like 10 sub defense chunks so it works for me, or any ability you just never use.
Just regularly play Salmon Run. It's far superior
Thank you for this 😭
Only bad thing playing solo salmon run is a nightmare to rank up to get good people cause in low ranks people are just so horrible and I play solo
I would play Salmon run but the first time I played a regular match was right after Big Run, which I really liked, then that one match kinda ruined it for me :/
Can someone explain why i don't get chunks from the salmon run method? I played alot and didnt get any chunks from the rewards..
For up to 1200 on your bonus meter, you may have just gotten unlucky. But as I say in the video, you're guaranteed some chunks if you play past 1200.
Not the 8 ball backrooms music…
Play salmon run every rotation
Why when i go to salmon run why there's no room or other player joining my room?
You have to do freelance
I HAVE ALL INTENSIFY ACTION CHUNKS DESPITE GRINDING THE MODE FOR FUN I AM LOSING MY MIND
I actually play Salmon run and I'm not even doing it to get ability chunks XD
How do I get better I’m only a overachiever
I just realized I have the last name chase😮😮😮
I got a ton from Salmon Run.
