It's even cooler to know the entire movie is one shot. As in no cuts, no breaks. Any scene changes happen behind camera as it's rolling. Epic feat to be sure.
@@cristinadona9091 I think Elizabeth Olson is younger, is she not? Mary Kate and Ashley are older than her. But I do agree that if it weren’t for the relatively significant height difference, and if MK & A had maintained their original features (not shaming anybody for choosing plastic surgery; it’s not my business nor is it good or bad either direction. It just is), they could easily convince an audience that they were triplets, with a little help from a Hollywood makeup department and some CG brushing up, they’d be almost indistinguishable from one another.
I love that this entire movie is one shot. As in they started filming and didn't stop until the end. No cuts for scene or costume changes. No multiple days or weeks shooting in different locations etc.. all on shot. Like a play. It's so damn cool.

This is actually a decent representation of DID via film. If you're trying to put a disorder into a horror/mystery movie then this is the way to do it.
I'd like to clarify something. It's called Dissociative Identity Disorder, not personality. It used to be called Multiple Personality Disorder but field of Psychology have realized that it is not a personality disorder, rather it is a dissociative disorder. It is because the individual dissociates when switching identities. It is also the change in identity rather than personality because their different identities could be of a different age, gender, race, sexuality, et cetera, not just personality. Of course, personality changes would come along because there are no two identities with exact same personality but that doesn't make it the personality disorder. With that being said, it is Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). The narrator and scriptwriter did a fantastic job in describing what happened. Usually, there would be one identity who stores all of the traumatic memories and there would be other identities that would take charge of other aspects of the host's life and memories, meaning different identities would hold and have different memories. In this case, I assume that Elizabeth Olsen's character is the host. I might be wrong but that is what I remember. Assuming I am right (correct me if I'm wrong), I hope someone learnt something new today.
It did drag on for awhile… and many scenes were hard to see because they shot in the dark. I know that’s the point but it’s wicked annoying ( at least for me) to see what’s going on in such a slow Moving movie… I adjusted the color to my tv screen so I could see what I could but then I had to skip through a lot of it because it was literally taking forever. But the twist at the end, I did not see that coming!! Which is what made it a decent movie. Her acting is amazing too!
That was a marketing ploy, the directors and Elizabeth Olsen confirmed in an interview that it was done in roughly 10 minute intervals and then carefully edited together to give it the appearance of one continuous shot. Entire sequences had to be scrapped and re-shot whenever they had any lighting issues or any cues were off, apparently it caused a lot of technical issues. Elizabeth also said in an interview that the experience gave her nightmares because of things she would think about during the day while filming.
@@colinburman419 Dang. I never even thought of that use case. I only saw these recap channels as time savers but for the visually impaired it's basically like story time. 🤯
May I suggest a movie? The movie called: The Perfection. On top of this, tears almost flowed when the blood started puddling on the bed, this in all reality is a great way to film someone fighting internally everyday over something they should not have dealt with, I applaud you for covering this.
Good movie, but the whole “the protagonist is also the antagonist because of split personality” thing is becoming extremely cliche. And in my opinion “Identity” is still one of the best to ever do it.
